My mentality is I pay this much for a phone I want to enjoy it, I do however use a screen protector more for the scratches than breakage of the glass I also own a case for times where I'm somewhere where a little extra protection is needed like if I'm working in the scene shop where I'm more likely to hit my pocket with something hard and heavy but most the time teaching / being a student doesn't really have any risks
If I remember correctly, the last phone that I used all naked was the iPhone 6s+, anything after that would have a case, and from the XS Max (only iPhone I skipped and never bought was the iPhone X, was too small for my liking, always liked bigger screen phone), I started using both the Apple Leather Case & Screen protector.

The 6S+ was my last phone I used a case on, my X was completely caseless, XS Max was 50/50, 12 PM, 13PM & 15PM all caseless, everything since my 6S has had a screen protector after I destroyed the screen of my 5 with scratches by dropping it on a bus floor as it slid down the aisle.

The worst phone was the 2G, 3G, & 3GS screen; it would scratch even if you put it in your pocket. Not so much from the 4 until the 7. Oh yes, I also skipped the iPhone 8; it was basically an iPhone 7 rebranded.

As I said before, my upgrade pattern now is every 2/3yrs, one year would be my upgrade, next year would be my wife's, hence we have every iPhone model besides the ones that got skipped.

Oh yes, thankfully none of us ever broken a phone screen, maybe dropped and a small scratch, but that is as far as it goes.

Trying to work out if I should do the iUP or just pay outright/get BPF and handle selling the phone myself. I think the cost works out very similar so that’s not a factor. It’s the ease of having to do the loan application in store/immediately hand back the device next year that’s a consideration.
Hmm… 🤔

I’m going to be upgrading my current cellular watch and 15 Pro Max to the new Ultra and 17
Pro Max. Buying from Apple and on the EE network. My wife is doing the same and she’s with O2.

Could someone who has been through the process advise on how to handle the swapping of the watch plan to the new watch for EE and O2? Hopefully it isn’t necessary to contact customer service!

Both phones have physical SIMs, so no problem there.

Thanks!
I know that if you are with EE than what you have to do is when you unpair your watch ensure that you keep your data plan and then when you set up your new watch it will prompt you to call 150 to initialise your data plan. Have your EID number for the new watchready as the customer service agent will need that and once they transferred you data plan, you should be up and running within a few hours.

I’ve got a feeling that the iPhone air will be one of apples most returned products.

When people get over the aesthetics and realise it has poor battery life, poor performance due to lack of heat dissipation and things like a mono speaker all while costing £200 more than a standard model, they’ll return it.

I was genuinely tempted with a switch to Pixel 10 Pro XL this time but decided to wait for the Apple announcement and I really like the look for the 17 PM so I’ll be ordering on Friday. There are aspects I really like on android (my work phone is a pixel) but not enough for me to move my main phone and I’m looking forward to the improvements Apple have made in the last 2 years coming from a 15PM

i think it will be the Pro Max users who are switching to Air will return it the most.

Anyone else seeing this when the go into the Apple Store app, go into your account and select iPhone Upgrade Program? I have a 16 Pro Max currently on the upgrade program and was expecting to just reserve my upgrade like before. I've not had the opportunity to save a phone.

Yes, I’m the same. I did a live chat with apple yesterday who said it looks like a glitch and that it would resolve itself. It’s still like it this morning. Probably try phoning later. Have found a possible workaround. Go into account, then click on devices, select your phone. If you wait a few seconds an upgrade option appears, click on it and it takes you to what should normally be in the original upgrade bit. Adds extra steps to an already frantic situation though, if it works.

Upgrading from a 12 Pro Max to the 17 Pro Max. I’ll need to replace my charging cables to USB C, I usually go Anker. Is Belkin any better now or is Anker still top?

Is check your upgrade eligibility in Store App same thing?

Which screen protectors do you use now? Used Spigen EZ Fit for my 15PM. It went on without the dreaded bubbles so I’ll be ordering again for my 17PM. Anyone use the Apple Store?

Well, if those things all turn out to be true, sure. That's just pure speculation at this point though. You're talking like you been using the Air for the last month. lol

Mono speaker is not an issue.

I put my iPhone into Cex to sell I have a spare phone so better to sell up ready for IPhone 17 in a week. Anybody worried about the next standard model isn’t out until 2027?

You can get much better prices than CEX elsewhere. They are pretty much the worst.

Hope you ordered anti-reflective ones buddy, otherwise your screen will just be glossy like previous models lol

Went for this one.

Doesn't say it's anti-reflective, so it'll just make your screen glossy lol. Had the same thing on my old Samsung S24 Ultra where my first screen protector cancelled out the anti-reflective screen.

By same glass i highly doubt they mean anti-reflective lol, probably saying it's made from the same type of glass. For example for Samsung they sell specific anti-reflective screen protectors and they are film.

Apple store Belkin ones do not have anti reflective coating as well

Otherwise I would have just ordered one of those plus im thinking of doing store pick up this year.

I imagine a lot of people are going to cancel out the new AR coating by using a normal screen protector 😅😂

Hi, thanks for the response. So how does upgrading to a new iphone work every year? Do you just pay off the remainder of the balance and take out a new 24month loan?

So you think If I did the above and had Applecare+ they would also refund me for the remaining year?

cheers
I have never upgraded through the Finance deal but here is what the small print says on the apple webpage:

§§ To upgrade, trade in your existing iPhone; your loan will be closed and any remaining trade-in value is credited to your new iPhone. If the trade-in value of your device is less than the outstanding value of your loan, you will need to make up the remainder of the payment when you purchase. Or if you decide to apply the whole trade-in value to lower the cost of your new iPhone, you will be responsible for closing your existing loan.

I think it sounds much smoother to just go with the IUP if i'm looking to trade in each year. Sounds like a much simpler process and there's even a dedicated section on the app that lets you reserve the new iphone etc.
