It sure is simpler. I would need to change everything to pick up, so not sure if I want to go through the hassle.

looks like battery pack takes most of the back so I don't see that possible

My strong intuition is that it is compatible, as the bumper covers only the sides.

I can confirm that they do work together. I saw a YouTube video last night and he put the MagSafe battery on the back of an Air that already had the bumper on it and there was no issue.

Which makes sense because it would be crazy otherwise. Though Apple has made that kind of screw-up in the past.

There is something about Apple that brings out the crazy in a lot of us. I guess we have been well-trained by the company.

A lot of criticism of the battery life of the Air. Apple says it's "all day"; the forums say "LIES!" Well, maybe let's wait until people have had a chance to test it. "You'll regret the tiny battery life", the forums say. Yet the Air's battery life is better than last year's Pro: were there howls of protest at the 16 Pro's terrible battery life when it was announced? "Only one speaker ". Are there really people listening to music through the tiny, tinny speakers on their iPhone who will be traumatised at the loss of stereo? I use mine to listen to podcasts in the shower, and talking on the phone and during video calls. I can't imagine I'll notice any difference at all. "What about the slower charging speed? Hmm?" Well, that's only if you use wired charging, which I don't. And even if I did, I charge my phone overnight. I don't care how long it takes.

Last year there was angry derision at the lack of ProMotion. The Air gets it (as do all the models) and where's the cheering? I'm glad to have Always-On, but will I notice ProMotion? I doubt it.

ONLY ONE CAMERA YOU FOOL! Look, I have over 30,000 photos on my iPhone. I don't know why. They're mostly holiday snaps that I literally never look at after I've taken them. At least the Air will have 256GB to store them all. Remember the outrage last year when Apple was still scamming us with 128GB? Still waiting for those cheers.

"The Pros have been massively downgraded to aluminium 🤬" When did we all become experts in metallurgy? Apple said "stainless steel is better than aluminium" and we all just agreed. Then it said "titanium is better than stainless steel" and again we all sat cross-legged and droned "titanium! titanium!" (I'm old enough to remember the launch of the Apple Watch and how everyone became an expert on galvanic corrosion.)

"The Air will bend, idiot." Was bendgate ever really real? Is it possible Apple have been quite careful this time round? And if they do bend easily, well I'll be sending mine back for a refund. UK law is pretty good about that sort of thing. Besides, Jerry will do his video and we'll all see the reality.

I think the Air is the nicest Apple product that has been released in a long time. It was clear that the Plus was not a great device and had a very stale design.

Apple appear to be making the Pro and Pro Max lines thicker and more beefier in every way each year so it makes sense for them to get back to their roots in terms of making something that is both impressive in terms of hardware but also refined and beautiful in design.

That's what I see the Air as and it's a much more exciting product than the Plus it replaces in the lineup.

It’s as if the Pro, which once embodied both performance and style, has now been decoupled from the two – fully focused on performance, while style has been passed on to the Air. It’s an interesting move, one that could have a longer-term impact than we might imagine for a product that carries so much importance.

It's too early to tell, but the Air is either going to be a repeat of the iPhone mini (loved by a few, a nod to the 'good old days', but ultimately a sales flop) or a sleeper hit (better than expected performance, irresistible design and form factor bring back the 'old Apple' wow factor, surprisingly good sales).

I'm personally going to be hungry and foolish, to quote Jobs, and be a Day 1 user of this new form factor. If it's atrocious, I'll return and swap for the Pro immediately. If it slowly reveals itself to be a hindrance, or I grow to miss any feature missing, I'll swap out in December for the Pro.

The Pro is very much the PC tower of iPhones. Utilitarian design and all about the performance.

This. This has been evident for a few years now but this year it's definitely the case.

Finally there's an option for people who want a beautiful phone that's got most of the best features, sacrificing a few you can live without for the form factor.

Air on the streets of London will create chaos.

Easy to snatch.

Also will be hit with ahem dealers. Easy to slide inside and side of your car seat lol.
