if it's anything like the last couple of years, i'll be sat here, mutliple dvices all connecting to the internet in different ways, store app and website being frantically refreshed from about 12:58. one will connect at say 1:03 and the order will get placed for launch day. Email will come through a minute or so later. I wont be the quickest, but it's done.....

Then i go back to the store about 15 mins later (whilst here there will still be people who cant get in for some reason) and there is still launch day stock.... then 30 mins later, then an hour.... only a number of hours later will the one i want (higher storage so i guess in less demand) will slip to a later date and i'll really question if all the frantics of 1pm were really worth it (probably not) 😅

I checked the Ts and Cs, if you cancel AppleCare+ on the Upgrade Programme you get a refund so it really is no different to the financing option.

I guess it’s over 20 months so the monthly payment is higher but the gross cost is still the same.

Can somebody tell me what I am missing?
It’s actually 21 payments as you make a payment when you collect the phone and the remainder is spread across 20 months with the first payment a month after you pick the phone up.

Okay but the gross is still the same right?

So my question remains, why would you not always do it? It seems to me the only reason is if you can’t be bothered to go to an Apple Store. Which makes sense.

MacBook, iPad, iPhone, App and websites open on all....

Fingers crossed it goes smoothly for everyone! Good luck people.

2G was my first iPhone, ain't wild, we are just getting old.
For some reason i was quite anti Apple in the early/mid 2000's. only when i got an iPod (3rd gen i think) did i start to warm, then in 2007 i got the ipod touch and loved it. It wasnt until my contract for my last dumb phone came up in 2009 a few weeks after the 3GS launched then i switched to iPhones. Only skipped 2 years (4 and 5 due to 24 month contacts) since.

Potential drawback to iUP is having to transfer to your new phone there and then in the Apple Store as you need to hand the old one back immediately to close your old loan. More time with standard financing.

Wild to me that my first iPhone was the 3G, before some of this forum was born I suspect.
My first iPhone/smartphone was the 3G as well.

I really wanted the original but I think you had to buy it on contract and I was only 15/16 years old when it came out. I remember going into the Apple Store after school when it came out and the whole concept of a smartphone was just mind blowing...it was an iPod, phone, and could browse the web!

I called my dad from the Apple Store from one of the demo models and asked him if I could get one for my birthday (he said no of course lol). When I got a summer job I saved up just to get an iPhone lol.

I started with Nokia's, I still have my fav's ones stored, then I had 1 blackberry phone (not a big fan), then an HTC Windows phone, after that I just switched to iPhones, never owned any Android phones ever, used them but never owned one.

Blackberry was quite big amongst my peers, they couldn’t understand why I’d give up BBM for an iPhone.

Anyone remember the Idiot Test? I used to play that for hours. Before all the paid extra rubbish.

Can’t you just sell the phone, ring up Barclays and settle the loan.
You can phone them up to pay the loan off early. I'll probably do that at some point. Just don't want to drop £1,400 all at once today lol. Gonna pay monthly for a while but I'll pay it off early eventually.

omg.

i loved phones that came with a stylus and were crappy PDAs. they felt so futuristic and cool.

my pre smartphone phones were Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola, or Samsung. I had the Tomb Raider Ericsson (i think). Nokia 3310. Motorola Razr/Krazr. The Samsung was a slide phone but I can't remember the name of it.

I always have had blue iPhones. Siera Blue and now Blue Titanium iPhone 15 PM. Do I go blue or orange for new iPhone 17 PM. Time is ticking…

Ohh Snap I forgot I had the P800 and P900!!! I did have those two, too!
Had those too. And a treo 650 (palm). Can't remember which was my earliest smartphone, I just remember my last non smartphone was a Nokia 6310i. Alongside a Psion 5MX I think ;)

Wanted to go silver for the Pro but now debating blue. Wish I could see them in person before deciding, pictures never do it justice
I was stuck between silver and orange. I need to see them in person. Silver is the safe choice but I'm gonna kick myself if I pick up my phone and want the orange after seeing it lol.

I think the blue looks gorgeous.
Still planning on silver myself, hoping all the scratches are less obvious.
Going on prior experience of aluminium, my 13 mini looked like it'd been dragged through gravel by the end. But hopefully it's better now and I'm being paranoid.

I don't like that shade of blue we have on the 17 Pro Max.

If it was the Sky Blue it'd be a no brainer. That blue is gorgeous.
