read through the EE thread which i used to take part in. carriers really do rip people off badly now. see people spending £113 and £120 a month on these iphones is just a joke. no idea why people don't just go sim only and buy the iphones. not like there isn't always for buy now pay later if people don't want to spend so much at once

I have unlimited everything (including Apple watch data) for £14 a month with them. Honestly no idea why people keep paying contract prices.

The iPhone i want is £70.45 a month on iUP.

I will pay EE £74 a month for the same phone with the full works plan.

12 months in I will settle my contract for £400-500 and keep the phone and flog it on eBay.

Last year after taking into account flogging the phone it came to £538 to use the iPhone for 12 months AND have the 12 month EE Full Works plan.

Total: 44 a Month for a 16 Pro Max INCLUDING my EE Plan.

They bill credited me for 1 month because I had bad service so if I also took this into account the cost is unbelievable.

Follow these steps every year and it’s the #1 way to have the new iPhone.

Obviously there’s the hassle of selling on eBay, making sure your phone condition is good throughout the year etc and you would benefit from EE F&F.

So there the £74 a month you pay to EE includes a F&F plan? so not really a fair comparison. Also not taking into account the IUP programme includes Applecare+

I've not done the number crunching but still sounds like it works out more expensive.

I’ve been on that game for 10+ years – SIM only, and buy the phone outright. My wallet’s been living its best life while everyone else is financing the network bosses homes.
Yeah, I've done the same since the iPhone 3G !

Won't ever pay contract prices !

Interested to see the Apple watch reviews today. The AWU3 is barely an upgrade over the 1st gen let alone the 2nd.

Okay so anyone can get friends and family as it’s pretty much extremely easy to get a code. My family member hasn’t worked there for years but they don’t take the discount off anymore like they use to.

I don’t need Apple Care as I’ve never broken or lost a phone ever so I wouldn’t have purchased it anyway.

It’s still works out cheaper.

EE Contract + Sell
£538
Buy Outright + SIM
£763
Apple Upgrade Programme + SIM (£70/month)
£1,103

Taking into account the EE Full Works Sim only is £22 (What my wife for it pays on her own separate account)

You’re still getting mugged off quite bad. Yes take into account you get no hassle just upgrading but for a few minutes work it’s a good saving.

I'm actually pretty happy now that I've cancelled my pre-order for a 17 PM. Thinking it may be a bit to big for me plus the base phones have some great upgrades this year. Looking forward to reviews tomorrow for the phones and I'll make more of a decision then on what to buy.

Neither did I for all the years I've had iPhones (since the 3Gs), but I purchase Applecare anyway, as piece of mind - well up until last year when my phone was snatched in London.
Apple had a new phone out to me within 2 days.
It's one of those things you never need......until that one time when you do and you wish you had it - not really for teh extended warranty, more for for the additional T&L.

Also get it for my computers - had to claim for a complete logic board replacement on an expensive MacBook once......when it had only a week left remaining on its 3 year Applecare coverage!

Correct. Some folks are not lucky like you and me who have access to 50% off F&F discount.
I've been upgrading with EE since 2000 but stopped last year when they decided to split the contracts into device and airtime plan. Same as above get the early termination fee pay off and sell the iphone to cover. On two occasions EE didnt even bother charging me early termination fee for my two lines.

But now i find buying from Apple cheaper. I pay £16 pcm (each) for full work sims and £55 pcm (each) for iPhone 17 Pro which includes AC+ with theft and loss.

The same package above online i was being quoted £77 pcm with no AC+.

It was no brainer for me to walk away from device plans.

Bloody good price for the Full Works Sims

And I don’t seem to be affected by this split of contract and phone costs? It’s always one prices for 24 months?

I 100% buy it for my MacBook but the phone is covered under EE for any mechanical breakdown while in contract.

Obviously if it’s lost or stolen you are screwed

Yup hence i do not want to touch them sim plans lol.

If i upgrade via EE they go back to £26 pcm.

It was cheaper when 30% applied to full contract.

Been on eSIM for a while and transferred to new phones easily with EE, O2 and Vodafone.
I had a hateful drama with my Vodafone eSIM when Apple replaced my dead 14PM.

Turns out I had to actually go to a Vodafone store, get my number put on to a physical SIM and then do the Convert to eSIM process.

I’ve been on a physical SIM since then.

Again Apple have given folks options as well.

BPF & iUP.

BPF is cheaper in short term i.e if you upgrade every year compared to iUP but like you said some folks do not want the hassle of re selling etc.

I can't wait to get my hands on this thing! 😍
EDIT: Decided to write in English instead of gobldygook! I have ordered a black 256 Air, in addition to the blue and white PMs (you can tell I am not sure which to land on!). I am seeing these be less popular than the Pro Max (closely followed by Pro versions). I do wonder if I will want to keep it and others will switch once we know what throttling and battery life is really like....
