UK New MacBook Pro Thread.

Just been to the Apple store on Regent street and they are all sold out. Apparently they had 30 in yesterday but went within the day. Covent Garden are meant to have some in on Monday so I might pop down then.

They also suggested using the apple app on your iphone which well tell you if a store has stock and you can reserve them on there. Handy!

mine didn't taker that long from frankfurt to london heathrow. apparently it only took 8 hours. Currently it is in london heathrow waiting to be cleared for import.

In that case yours was flown in or it would have cleared customs at Dover

Except that you can't reserve a rMBP for store pickup at the moment
 
2.7/16/512 RMBP ordered on the 14th just changed to "shipped". Estimated delivery 3rd July! :D

I've just had my shipped email and delivery estimate of July 3rd, which is the first day of my holiday abroad. Gutted. Missed it by one day. Ha ha.
 
Just ordered my first mac from Argos since I didn't fancy waiting 3-4 weeks. Got the base retina pro for under £1570 with a voucher and staff discount. After I ordered mine, there were 4 left for delivery with an estimate of within 2 days. Should receive mine tomorrow! :D

Mine took the same 8 hour trip from Frankfurt. Expeditors is showing no further movement today. I think the package is taken to Heathrow as though it was sent by plane and subject to customs there. The status is still showing "Arrived, not Cleared for Import".
 
As sad as I am I have worked out the interest rate of 6.8% on my credit card spread over 12 months for paying off a rMBP against waiting a week or two for the 0% interest one and now deciding if to wait or go for it.

I'd be very surprised if that is the case. I'm certain that Customs clearance has to be done at the port of entry, not 100 miles into the country. Anything could happen between the two.

If it did come by road then maybe the status is inaccurate as the system is designed for air freight and they probably do take the truck to Heathrow as the next stage of distribution is from there?

If that was the case, the customs clearance would have taken place in Frankfurt, no?

Lufthansa will have agreed with HMRC to sort air freight centrally. There's no need in this day and age for it to be done at the coast.
 
Ok, Could someone give me a brief run down on the shipping process?

I ordered on the 21st of June. I have shipping estimates for the 20-26th of June. It's the mid range 2.6ghz with 512gb ssd and 16gb of ram.

1) How long to you expect to be in each stage? (days?)
- Processing Items
- Preparing for Shipment
- Shipped
- - to delivery
- - card debited.

2) Are orders generally being delivered before the first date of estimates? (in my case, the 20th?) or later?

3) Are any particular combination of parts taking longer to deliver than others, such as accessories etc?

4) What time of day did your order come in? Could I wait for it and come into work late for instance?
- Can you schedule it to come on a specific day?
- Do they say it'll arrive on one day and not turn up?
- How many days before delivery do you know when your product will ship?



Apologies for the questions but this would really help me (and helpfully others) a whole bunch.

Dunno, but it would surprise me. Suppose the driver is corrupt and fills the back of the truck with illegal immigrants and/or contraband. No check at Dover, so stops at the first service station on the M20, kicks the illegals out and transfers the contraband to his mate's van.

Actually, that may explain why there are so many illegals in the country - hmmm.

You've got me thinking about it now - further investigation needed methinks.

Parish - Mine is on your flight too. Any updates for you? My Expo.... hasn't changed for about 40 hours :-( It says it should fly from Frankfurt to LHR today but I cannot find the flight number on any tracking sites. I just got my Apple Billing document which I usually get very close to delivery :-(
 
Haha... I've just realized that i joined MacRumors on the 12th of July 2011 and my RMBPs earliest delivery date is the 12th of July 2012! - Could this be a sign that I'll get it on the earliest date?! :D

It'll stay like that for a few more hours, then it'll say that it has been confirmed on board the delivery truck that is taking the pallet from Frankfurt to London (not a plane). I wouldn't worry at this stage, everything is exactly as it should be.

Just noticed, it was scheduled to leave Frankfurt at 15:30 BST - so it's 40 mins into its journey :D
