It'll stay like that for a few more hours, then it'll say that it has been confirmed on board the delivery truck that is taking the pallet from Frankfurt to London (not a plane). I wouldn't worry at this stage, everything is exactly as it should be.

I would be surprised if it travels by land? It is listing a Flight number and airport codes. I cannot find the flight number but then it is a cargo flight...

Check their cargo schedule with the exact flight code (it's on page 76 of that document). You'll see it says "Trucks" next to it and not an aircraft.

That's why it takes around 12 hours to make the journey, if it took a flight it'd probably only take an hour or two.

Blimey! Thank god shipping was free ;-)

Seriously though, I do find it slightly frustrating ordering Apple Products online these days. Maybe I have unrealistic expectations but why does it take a week to send a PC from China to London? I guess they send and process them in bulk to save cash but I would happily pay extra to have it shipped in a faster courier style way.

YAAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!!

Preparing for shipment. Doubt there's any chance it'll ship today? Could be waiting till Monday, or...?

P.S: YAAAAASSSSSS!!!

Expo seem to use 2 different routes, China --> UK direct through a passenger aircraft and China --> Frankfurt --> UK through cargo planes and trucks.

Unfortunately the route via Frankfurt takes much longer. The direct route actually only takes a couple of days, I guess we got pretty unlucky.

That's exactly it, volume. Apple have to stockpile enough units for a full pallet shipment (or multiple pallets) to a particular location. This then means that they aren't paying huge individual item courier fees (which for that distance and value would probably be £50 or more per item), but pay for bulk.

The US guys do seem to have the option to pay for faster shipment though. I'm assuming the set up just isn't there for the UK, and you get dumped on whatever method of shipping will get your parcel there, even if it is a weird route.

Mine's going direct from Pudong to LHR, so no trucks.

Go on, rub it in why don't you? :p

If you look at the other thread, if US guys phone Apple and complain about delivery times they are given a free Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, or SuperDrive

A UK guy posted that he tried it and got nothing - and I got nothing when I phoned last night and complained about the merge time :(

I'm tempted to refresh my 2008 BlackBook with a MBP (I like the Air but the specs are too much like treading water for me) I love the retina display. Hmm, going to maybe take a trip to the store this weekend and have a look :)

2.7/16/512 RMBP ordered on the 14th just changed to "shipped". Estimated delivery 3rd July! :D

Congrats, but wtf?! Mine shipped at 10am this morning and my delivery is estimated as 6th! How does that work??

Apple's shipping mechanisms are weird!!

Anything else on your order? Merge in Transit adds a few days on. Plus is that 3rd July the one on exp.o tracking? If so, it's just when they hand over to the UK carrier.

The pallet mine's on sat at Frankfurt for 24 hours and is now on a 12 hour truck ride to LHR. I can't believe they couldn't get a flight in that time

The US guys are luckier as FedEx handle the whole thing. Someone posted their FedEx tracking log - 2 days factory to door

Ok, Could someone give me a brief run down on the shipping process?

I ordered on the 21st of June. I have shipping estimates for the 20-26th of June. It's the mid range 2.6ghz with 512gb ssd and 16gb of ram.

1) How long to you expect to be in each stage? (days?)
- Processing Items
- Preparing for Shipment
- Shipped
- - to delivery
- - card debited.

2) Are orders generally being delivered before the first date of estimates? (in my case, the 20th?) or later?

3) Are any particular combination of parts taking longer to deliver than others, such as accessories etc?

4) What time of day did your order come in? Could I wait for it and come into work late for instance?
- Can you schedule it to come on a specific day?
- Do they say it'll arrive on one day and not turn up?
- How many days before delivery do you know when your product will ship?

Apologies for the questions but this would really help me (and helpfully others) a whole bunch.

Any help with any of these questions would be very much appreciated:confused:.

To all the education - HE purchasers who didn't opt for apple care and went for the free 3 year hardware warranty. I just checked my serial number on the invoice (appears once shipped) and put it in apples warranty checker and it's only stating one year hardware coverage

Anyone know why this is or if it will automatically change to three years at a later date?

I sadly haven't received mine yet so can't test... however having read how "difficult" it is to repair I would definitely ring apple customer care in the morning and get it checked out...

Unless you brought it in store where for some reason they give you the discount and the gift card but now warrantee.... in which case I would hand it back pronto and just get it online... annoying wait but its like £280 worth of warrantee...

Any body have any ideas why they would do this??? Really annoying as would just buy in store if they gave the warrantee too

----------

On a different note I'm now getting seriously annoyed with apple... I'm fed up with the fact that I have been seemingly punished for daring to order a stock unit and as far as I can see having ordered on the 13th have been left processing until anyone and their dog can walk in to an apple store and pick one up...

Just getting seriously peeved at seeing so many people jump ahead of me because they got 16gb of ram...

I would have thought that they would be piling out the base spec as this is so expensive it would be the popular choice... which would both be a delayer while they got them out but also help while they dumped as many on the market (including us online orders as poss)

----------

On a different, different note!!! has anybody in the uk got anything extra from apple... I see our American Cousins are getting everything from expedited delivery to free super drives etc... just wondering if anybody else has got anything...

Also can somebody explain why the apple website states that they have delivery options such as before 9:30 or Saturday but when I rung up all I was offered or allowed even when asking was the standard delivery??? has anybody else got anything???

----------

ps Rant over!!!!:D:D

I called and got nothing, if that helps. Guy was nice though. Meh.

Oh and i'm still on the Preparing for Shipment page, I guess it won't be leaving tonight then..
