 Have just found a dead pixel (yeah... just one) on my RMBP! I know that there are like 5 million of them, but still it will annoy me since I know know that it is there. It is located in the middle of the status bar, so I notice it quite a bit! I had a few questions for anybody here who has had a similar problem:

1) If I take it back to Apple, are they likely to accept the return since I only have 1 dead pixel (so far that I can see anyway!)
2) Am I likely to receive a replacement sooner than the time it originally took to get here?
3) Would I be allowed to keep this one until the new one arrives? - My now old 2011 MBP's hard drive failed yesterday - so I can no longer really use it!

Long post I know - but thanks for any help/suggestions that you can give me! :)

I don't think they'll accept it for a replacement, however, if it really does bother you that much you should be able to return it, get a refund and re-order? Doubt they would let you keep it until your new one comes though and would probably have to wait again for the new one to be re-delivered. Sorry!

Aww man sorry to hear that :(

I have tried not be overly critical of my machine but as far as I can tell there are no defects.... (not trying to rub it in!). Best thing is to ring them up and see what they say?

By status bar do you mean the menu bar? if so then why not adjust the translucency of it so the pixel is less obvious?

I know what you mean by always seeing it because you know it's there, I'm the same with things like that, but I wouldn't imagine they'd swap it for 1 dead pixel but even if they do, or you return it under the 14-day rule, you would be without a machine for a few weeks and what guarantee is there that the next one won't be the same - or worse?

I received an email this morning from the reseller I bought my Retina MacBook Pro, saying it has shipped!

I was hoping some people who have had their orders delivered, could give me a clue as to how long it takes to arrive.

I hear that the weathers bad in Shanghai, I hope that is not going to hold mine up:eek:

Just phoned Apple and they said that it was fine to swap it for a replacement. They said that it will be sent out 'First Priority' so that I shouldn't have to wait the 3-4 weeks for a replacement! - ill keep you guys posted with how it gets along incase anybody else is in the same position.

So you get to keep the existing one until your new one arrives?

Was just told that my new machine should be shipped out in 3-5 days...
Sorry for those still waiting as I'll be another machine in front of you!

No - apple has set up a replacement order that is to be shipped in 3-5 days and this one is to be picked up by courier within 3 business days.

So did i with a superdrive. Last night i cancelled the superdrive as i now realise i can install without a media drive.

Delivery date now showing 13th - 19th July but status is still processing

That is weird. Mine should be delivered on Monday...

If you ordered the base model without any modifications, they should let you replace it, and it will be sent straight away (they always have a backlog for repairs etc).

If your's was customised then you will simply have a replacement re-ordered, and it will be bumped to a priority for shipping, or is usually the case.

They may also have upgraded models in their backlog if you're lucky.

I'm really happy for you. That would have bothered me as well. What did you say to Apple? Did you just tell it straight, that there was a dead pixel? Or did you have to word it differently to make it sound a bit worse? I've had problems in the past with MBP screens (not so much dead pixels as weird banding) and they were always good about swapping it out. Congrats again. If it means mine is one day later as a result, I think it's all worth it for your sake!

Ordered on the 16th, quoted 17th-23rd July delivery - still processing. It's 3 weeks and a day since I ordered the base model rMBP. Anyone else in the same/similar position?

I ordered my rMBP on the 14th June (2.3, 16GB, 256GB) from EDU store.

Originally quoted Ships in 3-4 weeks with delivery between 16th & 20th July

Received shipping notification on the 2nd (2.5 weeks after ordering) and finally got a UPS shipping number once it arrived in London from Shanghai yesterday morning. Delivers on Monday 9th. Might actually die of excitement over the weekend!

Reading this thread is the only thing keeping me going, I've ordered off 3rd party who will be getting them in by the end of next week at the latest; I don't have any tracking info.

Let's hope mine was amongst your batch to the UK that arrived yesterday.
Fingers crossed for Monday!

Yep. 15/6 order base model, still processing with an estimate of 16th July - 20th July.

Needs to change sharpish or it is going to miss it's delivery window.

What happens if Apple don't fulfil their delivery estimates? Any chance of getting anything from it?

I ordered a basic and a high-end rMBP on the 12/06, end up with 3 to 4 weeks shipping time with delivery estimate between 12/07 to 19/07, those orders are still in processing stage.

Basic Apple policy when I called them today is either keep on waiting or cancel the order. There is no chance of getting any free stuff from them as the rMBP is in high demand, and the shipping date is an estimate.

Yeah, just said that it had a dead pixel and they then set up the replacement!

Umm... I'm not sure if your being sarcastic here?!

Does anybody know if rMBP purchased with Higher Educational Discount in Apple retail store will include the 3 years hardware warranty?
