Based on the iPhone and iPad shortages in the past, how long does it usually take for Apple to start meeting demand ??

According to the order status page my Retina will be delivered somewhere between the 2-8 of August and I'm hoping that I won't have to wait that long ! :)

P.s. I placed my order two days ago :p

Not sure it could take weeks for them to catch up and my order will be delivered anywhere between the 30th of July to the 6th of August so our orders might ship together.

How's the stock situation in UK Apple stores for the base model? I know they aren't plentiful but does anyone know if they are getting regular small deliveries of them?

I was at the Trafford Centre store last night and they are getting them in the handfuls but they are selling out straight away. The member of staff was saying that they are all shocked at how popular it has been.

Same for Milton Keynes as soon as they come in they get sold right away, crazy for a laptop costing £1799!

If you don't mind a US keyboard (I actually prefer them as I work with code all day) then there are a couple of stores on ebay shipping from the UK that have them to hand. Just ordered one for £1599 which seems like a good enough saving...?

Thanks, but personally I would rather have the UK keyboard and PSU. Plus I use the Higher Edu discount so it's £1528 minus whatever I sell the £70 iTunes voucher for, oh and the free 3 year warranty too.

Yes, that's cool - joys of higher ed! Them were the days. However, just for the record, I'm pretty certain it's a universal PSU, at least the last one I had was - just slip the UK plug on the end instead.

Sorry, yeah the power brick is 100-240v I just meant the plug end. My Mrs is training to be a Radiographer hence the HE discount. ;)

I ordered on the 18th and still processing. So don't expect any movement yet if you ordered after that date.

I'm aware some people on here ordered the same day and have been shipped but I think they are the exception not the rule.

My order was for a 2.6/16GB/512GB BTO model.

I ordere Mine on the 18th and its waiting for the connecting flight to London at Fankfurt! Hopefully getting it by Monday!

Edit: just saw that i posten the Same earlier. Apparently no more flights but truck instead!

Thanks. I've got Magic Prefs installed which is a similar thing, although the main issue is not that I don't like the behaviour, it's that I'd forgotten it even existed.

I actually find the default 3- and 4-finger gestures really useful, but I may tweak them sometime.

Does MagicPrefs allow context-specific gestures? Ie a pinch does x in finder but y iTunes?

I know BTT does but want to know if there's an alternative with more functionality. Does MP do stuff besides gestures? Sounds tweakUI-esque :)

Yes, or at least it appears to looking at the settings, but I've not got that complicated.

It's free so you can try it and see if it does what you want - http://magicprefs.com/

Finally have it! Typing this on it in fact!

I have noticed a "tiny" big of lag when scrolling BUT i have not downloaded the update yet (1.4GB)

It looks perfect, the screen is perfect and build quality is ace!

Finally i have a UPS tracking number and delivery scheduled for Monday. That is almost a week before the initial estimate of 16-20 July. I ordered on the 15th of June.

 Have just found a dead pixel (yeah... just one) on my RMBP! I know that there are like 5 million of them, but still it will annoy me since I know know that it is there. It is located in the middle of the status bar, so I notice it quite a bit! I had a few questions for anybody here who has had a similar problem:

1) If I take it back to Apple, are they likely to accept the return since I only have 1 dead pixel (so far that I can see anyway!)
2) Am I likely to receive a replacement sooner than the time it originally took to get here?
3) Would I be allowed to keep this one until the new one arrives? - My now old 2011 MBP's hard drive failed yesterday - so I can no longer really use it!

Long post I know - but thanks for any help/suggestions that you can give me! :)
