I have BT infinity. I originally has BT back when broadband started then moved to UK Online (who were bought by Sky) and then moved to BE. Whilst I recommend BE greatly I get between 7-9MB/sec (70Mbits) on infinity for £20 a month. It's amazingly fast.

I can literally sit down with dinner for example and download a whole film by the time I have had one spoonful of food. It's great.

That is so unfair! I can't get BT Infinity where I live and the max speed that it gets to is around 250kbps - yours is like 28-36 times faster!

I used to get the same but our exchange was FTTc enabled recently so went from about 500kbps to 40mbps as we were that close I've just been upgraded to the 80mbps product and get around 77mbps.

The difference it makes is amazing.

Infinity is awesome. Remember it's the green boxes at the end of the streets/ in your immediate area that make infinity work.

You will normally see a second green BT caninet next to or near the old one and that is when you know Infinity is physcally available.

They lay fibre to that cabinet and then use VDSL2 to get the up to 80Mbit down/20Mbit up connections.

Back on topic - I wish my MBP would change to shipped already as I know it will probably still take a week to get here but now I have a hate of prepared to ship as a status.

It is pretty useless really isn't it? If it's ready to ship then ship it. Why do we need a status of ready to ship?!? It would make more sense to have a "building" status for custom macs and then just change to shipped!

There's an Infinity box across the road from me - I could almost throw a stone and hit it - but the checker says I can't get it.

Contacted BT (via Facebook - much better than calling their overseas call centre) who said that my line goes directly to the ex change rather than via a street cabinet. Arrgghh. So until they roll out FTTP I'm stuck on ADSL :-(

My area doesn't have FTTC and it isn't even in their current roll out plans.

Really annoying, it's not as if I live in the sticks either. I live in one of the largest towns in the UK around 5 miles away from Manchester and the area is solely a commuting belt for those who work in Manchester. The decision not to include us in the rollout seems rather baffling to me.

My internet isn't that bad though, I can get around 500-800kb/s on torrents and can stream HD stuff relatively easy. The problem is when the whole house is using it for heavy use (iPlayer on the HDTV, music streaming etc) makes it judder to a halt.

I would leave Sky, but Sky Go is pretty much irreplaceable as I can use it to watch live Sky Sports while at university on my mac.

So my MacBook has shipped which is great. Estimated delivery date is 20th which is a day later the earliest original delivery estimate when I ordered.

Expo isn't showing my information yet but I imagine it's too soon for that to show up yet.

I'm sure like everyone here that I hope I get a direct flight to the UK and it gets delivered Monday but we will see.

Same, mine should be on the same flight.

Noticed this under events section 'Requested Delivery Date - 16-Jul-2012 14:00:00 GMT' whether this means Monday delivery I don't know. Lost count how many times I have refreshed the page.

I have no events section. The apple bridge tracking says estimated delivery 20th July - which is next Friday.

Interestingly the invoice shows the order date at the 20th June - two days after Apple says I ordered on their tracking.

That is when UPS will pick up the package from Sycreon. Either to deliver straight to your door, or (most likely if you're package isn't being sent directly with UPS) when UPS pick it up at the merging centre and will deliver it. So expect it to be around 1-2 days after the requested delivery date.

I'd say we should have ours by Wednesday next week :)

Still not dispatched :(

Hopefully it ships tomorrow so I get it midweek next week! Although I wont hold my breath.

Base w/ 16GB + HE discount, 21st June.

I'm not showing up on expo yet. Hopefully will later. A sooner delivery would be awesome!

I ordered myself some accessories today now it's on the way:

MagSafe 2 adaptor, thunderbolt to Ethernet adaptor from Apple.

2TB LaCie USB3.0 external hard disk for £80 and a 64GB USB3.0 stick for £36 both from Amazon with free next day delivery thanks to am Amazon prime trial!

It's here! Arrived at 10AM. Its absolutely beautiful as you all already know.

And for anyone still wanting to order I got mine from Debenhams Plus for £1677 and came the next morning! Superb!

Looks like you got an amazing deal. Just checked the Debenhams plus website and the price is up to £1779 for the base model. Good find!

I'll be waiting another month for mine from Apple :(

Anyone managed to pick up a rmbp in store?

Yeah, picked up a 2.6/8/512GB one up from Regnets Street about a week and bit ago. Didn't know that you couldn't upgrade to 16GB ram instore so returned it and ordered by phone. Killed me :p when I got it they had 60 base models and 20 mid 512gb models but no top end ones.

Good luck, if only I could upgrade the ram myself. Expecting 26-1 August :/

O'yeah, I found out that the apple app to reserve stock doesn't work even when they do have stock so probs best to give em a ring to check if they have stock.

guys,
glad you are enjoying BT infinity - its an awesome product. For the chap near an exchange we are working on that but it needs support of the whole industry will be soon and it will most likely be FTTC VDSL.

back on topic:

has anyone seen a 16GB model in any store? Getting an 8g model is easy now but I haven't actually seen anywhere with a 16G model?

Oi, when is infinity coming to Tooting/Streatham? Considering moving due to progressively slower download speeds!!! (From 6mbps down to 3mbps in the last 12 months )

As a 21st of June'er, I'm now at the phase where I always have the order page open on a browser tab. Refreshing it every hour, hoping that they take notice and ship slightly earlier... :D

This is a little out of the blue, but, noticed you're from Lisburn! Awesome! I'm from Carrickfergus. It's good to see a fellow Northern Irelander on the forums.
Just followed you on twitter, btw. Look out for @falcon_feathers :)

We'd all have one buy now if it was possible :D

From speaking with one of the reps in Apple, she mentioned the fact it would need a whole new logic board to upgrade, which she basically implied wasn't possible in store. Having said that, they do have the 768GB / 16GB version available in select Apple stores.
