Hi there,
1st time poster so be gentle with me!

I ordered mine from Apple Store UK today (at 10:47am) and it has already changed to 'Prepared for Shipment'.

Prepared for Shipment
Estimated Shipping: 28 Sep, 2007
Estimated Delivery: 04 Oct, 2007 - 05 Oct, 2007
Product / Part No.
Qty

IPOD TOUCH 8G-ZOO
No engraving.

I'm suprised it changed so quickly based upon what I have read from this post's history.

i also ordered very recently (late last night) and mines changed to Prepared for Shipment too

My engraved one, ordered on the 9th, has just gone to prepared for shipping.

I recently bought an iPod nano from the Apple Store, and it was delivered the day after it was prepared for shipping.

Two days ago I ordered a Classic and it was prepared for shipping and shipped the same day, and I received it the next.

This is despite the fact that the expected delivery dates in both cases were quite a few days later.

Now I don't know if the Touch is being shipped from a different geographic location to the nano and classic, but if not then I would expect UK mainland Touches to be delivered the day after they go to shipping, notwhithstanding the expected delivery dates.

Which means I - and everyone else who have got "prepared for shipping" comments - should be getting a Touch tomorrow!

There's something to think about - sorry if I get your hopes up and you're still waiting on the 5th October....

(uk) Mine went to prepared for shipping early on Monday morning and it still has this status.

(UK) Mine went to prepared for shipping' on tuesday and is still the same.
when would it be shipped?

There goes my theory.

Still, delivery should be the day after it is marked shipped, unless it is being delviered from a different place to the nanos and classics. Or you live somewhere like the highlands of Scotland. Or there is a typhoon.

And of course you may be out when it's delivered. Or - if the courier happens to be Initial CityLink - they simply don't bother coming to your house at all and say that you were out. Still, my Classic was delivered by TNT UK, and the Nano by UPS UK. Let's hope Apple don't use Initial CityLink.

My touch is being delivered to my work, say like i am late for work and the post man has already been can someone else sign it for me?
when does the delivery man usually come, what time?

It'll come via courier and they usually always allow someone else when delivering to a workplace to sign for it

Unless the stock is say in Holland now, then it'll be 3-5 days before it arrives as its likely to be arriving direct from China

Well I live just west of London so its not like i live in the middle of nowhere :(

Yup. If it's shipping direct from China that would count as a different location to where the nanos and classics appear to be being shipped from. In which case it might well be 3 - 5 days.

Yep 3-5 days is normal for China, I bought from China quite recently (video playing watch haha)

It's tedious, but I'm glad, as from there it's likely to be as "new" as possible. I know they're unlikely to ship out the faulty ones now, but it's still reassuring.

Sidenote - having thought about the estimated delivery date changing from 1st/2nd to 4th/5th, perhaps they realised the 28th was a Friday and there was a weekend involved. If it ships late on the Friday, it's essentially 3 days extra.

Yes, even though it's unlikely apple will be shipping out any week 37/faulty units, what chances do you guys think a touch ordered on 24th 4:30PM from Currys to deliver in 5 days have of being a faulty one?

Im afriad to say i think it will be likely, all the ones that ive heard of bought from and sent from currys have been 37.

Highly likely it will be a Week 37 unit so a good chance of it being faulty - seems no new stock will be hitting the UK till the weekend at the earliest and more likely next week

Very likely
I have heard many that have bought from currys and are faulty ones.

A little story to share.

I ordered from Argos on Monday...

I was prompted to enter a delivery date and time, so I entered Wednesday between 8:00am and 6:00. I received a confirmation email and prepared to sit around on Wednesday doing bugger all.

At 1:00pm (wednesday) I thought I'd ring to see if it had been dispatched, the lady on the phone said yes but couldn't tell me an exact time. So I sat around for a bit a longer.

At 4:30pm I rang again, spoke to another lady who told me that it hadn't infact been dispatched as they didn't actually have the stock in yet. When I questioned why I was given a date and time of delivery she told me it was to trick the computer into processing the order!

This evening I received an automated message on the phone telling me it'll be delivered Friday 28th, I'm hoping this is the real thing and not the computer being 'tricked' and automatically rescheduling my order!

I am happy that my Touch will eventually come, but not happy that the first person i spoke to from Argos lied to me!

Still no update and only one more day until it’s suppose to ship, to be honest I don’t see it even being prepared to ship before Friday/Monday, Wish I hadn’t ordered from Apple Online now!

Also is it a bad sign that i can still add a gift message?

/Ste

Unlucky dude, mine changed to prepared this afternoon, so I guess there’s just you by yourself on this one, doubtful it will be shipped by the 28th,

There are no iPod Touch's in stock at Currys. The stock is not coming into the warehouses until at least 1st October. Your order will not be fulfilled so don't get your hopes up.

why u quoting me?
i don't want to know about currys lol

oh thats strange... i spoke to the guys on the phone and they said they did have them in stock. maybe they meant that they are in stock in some stores (week 37). so if according to davidjearly they get their stock in on 1st, maybe that means it could be a week 38.

davidjearly, where did you get the info that they dont have any until 1st from?
