Although Apple says that my iPad has shipped, I'm not sure that's strictly true. I think they have provided UPS with tracking codes, but not the packages.

And the reason for that is because they want to make sure people get in on Friday. I'll still take my MacBook to work tomorrow, just incase.

The people who have had theirs shipped from China are in a different boat.

Sorry if this message is repetitive but it is hard to keep up with all the posts in here! I just received a shipping notification e-mail. My e-mail has a delivery reference number 10 numbers. When I go to order status on UK page the delivery is blank and they have a number underneath 9 numbers which on the US page is referred to as a tracking number (the 9 number one) via TNT UK Ltd. Does any one know how to track this or has anyone been able to track from TNT UK? It is a 3G iPad btw.

Is anyone who has ordered from UPS before aware of their policy with regards to missed deliveries?

I'm working every day this week apart from Friday. I'd certainly hope that if the iPad did arrive on Thursday while I was out, that I'd be given an opportunity re-arrange delivery for the Friday when I'd be in. Does anyone know if that would be possible?

If you find the card they leave quickly you can ask for a redelivery on the following day. Alternatively you can collect from their depot on the same day - if you contact them early enough (ie 10am rather than 5.45pm). Otherwise redelivery takes a couple of working days.

The TNT UK Ltd. tracking does not seem to work. It gave something on the AppleStore yesterday and earlier today, but that has gone now. There is speculation on another thread that TNT have asked Apple to disable tracking as their server is getting hammered as we all keep hitting refresh! Sounds plausable to me (as he hits refresh for the nth time today )

I'd hate to get anyone unduly excited but I just spoke to my local UPS delivery man about the ipads...

'had a meeting this morning - a lot of high value items being delivered on Thursday'

Mine is coming via TNT - but OMFG!

Delivered to... distribution centres on Thursday? For final delivery Friday? ;)

OK, cheers.

Really tempted to just book Thursday off work now though. Is 2 days off too much to just sit by the door hoping for a delivery..?

If the depot is not too far from where you are, it's probably quicker and easier to just pick up instead of waiting for them to deliver at all. Chances are that it will arrive at your local depot at least a day or two before it is scheduled to go out on delivery anyway.

This is what I'll be doing once the tracking info finally gets uploaded to TNT's system. :)

You can usually just go to your nearest TNT depot and collect it, sometimes the same day

Before the Apple site changed it told me 28 May so i think it will come on Friday. Even if it did come early which i doubt, it will be Thursday which works out okay for me. I am out on Thurs from about 7.30am til 12pm but someone is in between those hours and then i am there from 12pm and then Friday im out again from 7.30am til about 1pm but someone is in the house again. So no need to panic.

It is frustrating when the site changes though. Puts people on edge, can't wait til this whole iPad launch is over, it gets me nervous, lol!

Just emailed UPS customer services to find out why the new tracking numbers apple has provided aren't working. This is the reply I got.

" Dear Tom Be****

Thank you for your email.

Please accept my apologies that you are unable to track you packages at this present time. I have just checked our tracking systems and that is not showing any information yet either. This is possibly because Apple have not yet forwarded the items to us.

If the delivery date is the 28/05/10 the items may not be collected until the 26/05/10 or 27/05/10. As soon as the items have been collected, the tracking system will show a pickup scan on the date that we collect the items.

Kind Regards

I just spoke to TNT UK on the phone the lady told me that Apple's deliveries all come from abroad but it states as "TNT UK". She also said with Apple deliveries you can't track TNT deliveries online! However, she said they will be delivered to your local depot first and than go to your house from there. So there is no reason why we would be denied to collect our iPad from our loacal depot early. I for one will be going to my local depot :)

More conflicting information!!

Several pages back, people reported that AppleStore reps are saying that some iPads are already in the UK ready for shipping from here i.e. not coming direct from China. (Of course some iPads are also clearly coming direct from China, via 'TNT International Express', and they generally have tracking info. None of the 'TNT UK Ltd' orders seem to have tracking info yet.)

I think Apple would be in a better position to know where their stock is, so I still think the 'TNT UK Ltd' orders will ship from the UK.

Finally shipped, mine went from Prep shipping on the US site, and Not shipped on the UK site to SHIPPED in one go. Strange, it took 18 hours to change state.

So mine is coming with UPS to 1ZW---------- I looked on the UPS site it says billing info received and no tracking. On the Apple site it has no del date.

Are most peoples coming with TNT?

Mine is a 16GB 3G

But the tracking number I was given is 9 characters. On the International tracking service of TNT it says the consignment number is 9 characters begining 8023 which the lady on the phone also told me to use. But for the UK website the tracking service says the consignment number/tracking number is only 8 digits. So I think these are international shipments also on the International tracking of TNT I got weird information like other people about my order delivering in Greece. I think Apple are just trying to mess with us so we don't actually know when they get to our local depot so we can't pick them up

Thanks for this - the most useful post for (p)ages. Clarifies much of the confusion.

Everyone;

Your iPads will arrive on the 28th of May. They are, like most other Apple equipment from the store, being shipped from Hong King. Take a breather :)

How confusing! I wonder if there has been some sort of error on Apple's part and that's why a: tracking info, for the most part, doesn't work, and b: because even the link on Apple's site has been removed. Interesting that my widget said delivered by the 28th, and now says 'unknown' so something has gone wrong, albeit planned that way. I'm just keen to know if I'm getting mine early!

WOOHOO!!!!
mine is now showing as having shipped, and then within 10 mins i got an email confirming this.
I will track it properly after work but at a glance on UPS website it appears its already in the UK :)

At least there is some good news, the people at Junecloud will have made so much money this weekend! I know the Widget is free, but I have the app too which tells me when something has been updated or rather not been!

More evidence that some 3G iPads, specifically the 16GB ones are already in the UK.

Didn't somebody say they were told that the TNT UK Ltd consignments were just labelled as such because the UK is their final destination? Seems difficult to pinpoint if there is any pattern between TNT UK Ltd and TNT International Express...

Whoever said 'ignorance is bliss' clearly didn't preorder a friggin' iPad :p
