Finally got my confirmation email, too.
I'm happy now. Shipped by UPS from Netherlands.
Tracking will probably not work before Wednesday. That should give us a good idea then whether it will be delivered on Thursday or on Friday.
I believe Thursday might happen for some of us, since delivering them all on the same day might be a tough task.
I personally hope that mine arrives on Friday, else I won't get any work done this week... :p

Bottom line is, I think all of us who got their confirmation emails should relax now. From my personal experience with UPS regarding tracking, it is not really too reliable. Not wanting to spoil the fun though!
I'm confident we'll hold it in our hands on friday and have a great weekend fiddling around with our new toy while spending loads of cash on the appstore and going for expensive flatrate data plans (3G of course).

...I do remember that there were some people who had earlier delivery dates showing for a while, but they all got changed once the shipment got the the local distribution centers.

Here in the States, The shippers had specific instructions to hold the shipments until the release date.

That's exactly how I remember it too.

(By the way, you must be seriously bored if you're looking in on this thread from the USA!). :)

Just logged onto TNT, and it said: "Please Call".
Worried, I rang them (this was about 00:50 BST), and they told me it was originally due to be delivered on the 27th, but is early and will be delivered tommorow. Now I hope that they mean tommorow (as in the 25th). :)
I will believe it when I see it.

Kev.

I call them too and they told me that it's due to be delivered on the 27th. I anticipate that it will arrive in Europe later on today so there is a slim chance I may have it Wednesday, but my money is on Thursday.

That Apple clearly state "delivers by" suggests to me that they won't hold it until the 28th.

The confirmation email says "28th or earlier".
Since the product has actually been launched a month ago in the US, it might not make too much sense to hold it back until friday.
We all know what it looks like and what to expect, innit?

Fingers crossed for you guys. My gut feeling is that I'll receive mine on thursday.

Could be right. But remember this is across Apple UK stores front page.

Coming May 28th

Here in the States, The shippers had specific instructions to hold the shipments until the release date. In some cases the iPads sat there for a few days. I tried calling UPS myself to get it early and was told that there was a "shippers hold" on my order.

That was true for the Wi-Fi model release, which was at a time when nobody except a few select journalist (and some Apple employees) had access to the device.

As far as I know none received their Wi-Fi iPad before April 3rd. On the other hand for the US release of the 3G model, some people did receive their 3G iPad one day before April 30th, the official release date. http://www.intomobile.com/2010/04/29/apple-shipping-ipad-3g-a-day-early.html

True. But why pay more just to hold them back.
Apple already have to rely on more than one courier service in order to be able to handle the whole thing.
It would really surprise me if we really got them all on the same day.
Imagine the logistics nightmare associated with something like that.

And what for? Sure, some will be pissed off if others receive theirs earlier, but Apple has promised delivery on or before 28th. I believe that's exactly what will happen. I am absolutely confident that all of us will have it by friday, though. Unless one is a really unlucky guy and the driver has an accident or something.

Sucks if you receive it early and aren't home. But hey, you can still call them and tell them to deliver it again, on friday... :D

Easy for me to say, I work from my home office, hehe.

EDIT: And I'm sure my heart will skip a beat each time the doorbell rings, this week...

I just checked on TNT UK (not international) and the status was 'Please Call'. So i did at 01:40 BST (I called 0800 100 600), just spoke to this women, after giving my consignment number, name and the likes that "it has arrived early and will be shipping out on the 25th, is that okay for you?" which i replied "yep!!!"

she couldn't give me any specific time today unfortunately! just the 25th!

I find it hard to believe cos' its felt like i've waited forever! haha, but *fingers crossed*

Interesting - I did the exact same thing about an hour ago but she told me the 27th. There must be a batch that are already in the country then.

Actually, even though it says "by" it means "on". Believe me, I hope some lucky soul gets one early. I would be totally thrilled if it happened to me.

"We expect your order to be delivered to your shipping address on or before 28.05.2010."

I've just this minute received an electronic invoice for my iPad order from Apple Sales International, Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland. I don't know whether this was triggered by the units finally being scanned at TNT, or what? Interesting, the invoice provides me with the serial numbers of the two iPads in the order.

No change on my TNT tracking (ie, still doesn't work).

Got my invoice too, it's just coincedence I'm afraid! They always take a while to come through!

At least you know your serial number now and you have a specific unit allocated

For those talking about TNT delivering early (like UPS told me), make sure you keep us informed.

We just got off the phone from TNT UK.
Our iPad is in the country, but they've apparently had an email from Apple, telling them to deliver the packages on the 28th and no earlier.
