We just got off the phone from TNT UK.
Our iPad is in the country, but they've apparently had an email from Apple, telling them to deliver the packages on the 28th and no earlier.

Might try ringing UPS in a bit, but suspect they've been told the same - all that excitement and we've got to wait till the date we were originally told!

They certainly know how to build anticipation in their user base.

I called again, to check if it is being dispatched, as i'd need somebody to be in the house and such. I just got told a completely different story, Scot at TNT said "they've received an e-mail from apple to hold any iPad's for delivery until the 28th" i ain't too happy about this. Oh well.

I finally have a working tracking number, seems like my iPad will be picked up today by the courier...

I don't get the policy of holding the iPads until the 28th - it's not like this is a world exclusive release or something.

Just get them delivered!

Just got off the phone with TNT on 0800 100 600. Told they will not be delivering until the 28th, but if you were to pop to your local depot, there is no reason you will not be allowed to collect in person before the 28th. Provided your iPad is there, of course.

Just this second got this email from apple.....

So guys proof, not being sold in store until 8am friday.

I've just had an email invoice from Apple saying they have taken money from me, for my iPad 64Gb 3G+WiFi and Orange Sim card.

So technically I am now a proud owner of an iPad :) although I don't have it my hands yet - lol.

Hmm... I am now wondering if it will get delivered today as they have now taken my money.

Which probably means they'll be held at the hubs until the evening of the 27th and then be distributed over night and out for delivery on the 28th.

My invoice was emailed this morning to. Nothing charged to my CC though yet. Will check this afternoon.

Not really, that would present a huge backlog issue at said hubs, it's more efficient and makes sense to get them out to local distribution centres in due course not only because it is more efficient, but it also minimises insurance liability by spreading out the mass.

Like I said, whilst they aren't likely to be delivered before the 28th (apparently), you're welcome to go pick it up yourself from your local depot when it gets there.

EDIT: Rather, this is what I've been told within the last hour, but frankly nobody seems to have a bloody scoobies about anything at either of the companies based on the conflicting reports being aggregated here. Thing is, I've only spoken to one rep from TNT and thus I'm inclined to believe her because I got it from the horse's mouth. That isn't to say my info is any more accurate than anybody elses', it's just what I've been told in person.

Just got off the phone with TNT

The first customer services guy told me that iPad will be delivered on the 27th!! (which I though was a slip of the tonque) I was then transferred to international shipping, my iPad left Hong Kong at 12:01 (HK time) and the shipping status will not update until it lands in the UK.

I then asked for a confirmed delivery date and again I was told, "we will be delivering iPads on the 27th, if delivery is failed (no ones home etc) we will deliver again on the 28th"

So.. looks like mine, if not all TNT's will be here on Thursday the 27th

Beat me to it!

I read on another thread on here that serial numbers were displaying the same config.

Weird.
Are they really showing the same config?

Mine also says 512Mb RAM but then it says 64Gb capacity which is correct as mine is the 64Gb model.

No doubt this post will get lost amongst all this, but hopefully someone will reply.

My tracking number is just a ten-digit number (8115123456) and it doesn't work on TNT's website. Also, 'track shipment' on Apple's Order Status page has vanished.

What format is your TNT tracking number?

Also, at the bottom of my invoice it says 'Serial number: 000010'. Is that my iPad's serial number??

Serial number is the bit below 000010, starting GB...

A lot of TNT reference numbers haven't been working since they were issued and Apple's tracking facility went down yesterday morning. The TNT rep I spoke with reckoned it was Apple's fault for providing a bum tracking number, but I think it's less clear-cut than that.

Hope that brings you up to speed! :)

No. Your iPad's serial number should be under that number (it was on mine). Mine started with "GB" and is 11 characters long.

Has anyone's non-working consignment/reference number started tracking at all? I got my receipt at 7am, but nothing's been updated yet. Are they even going to bother fixing the bum numbers? I really just want to see where the package is lol.

Mine says 512Mb.

It also says it was built in week 21 which I make this week, ie: after is was shipped!

Mine says week 19 (number 420 built that week) for my 64GB and week 20 (number 608) for my wife's 16GB.

I've too just spoken to TNT.

Two things.

The very helpful lady mentioned that I should speak with her on Thursday. They've just begun processing them yesterday as a company-wide rollout. Until Thursday they won't be able to confirm if the products will be sent out on Thursday or Friday 'because of their nature'. She clarified that each consignment will have information about whether or not it is to be held or not, so some could come early, some might not.

For those of you that have arranged for someone to be in on Friday to pick it up, if it comes on Thursday they will be sent out again on Friday for delivery.

So, panic over (not that there needed to be one). They *will* all be here on Friday. Some might be early although unlikely. If they come early and you're out, they'll be there on Friday.

Yeah, I got that too, which made it all the more annoying that my order, which they've had the money for since the morning of the 10th, hasn't even been prepared for shipment yet! I was being quite patient but now I'm starting to think it ain't coming this week, as I can't see how they can get it from China to here by Friday if most people's ones have already shipped. I reckon if there's no change by the end of today I'm screwed for a Friday delivery. Doubly annoying if some people are getting theirs early too!

Is anyone else still waiting? conversely, has anyone who ordered a 3G with Applecare actually had theirs ship yet?
