nope TNT Inter - powers of the internet say 2 planes out of HK one for Dubai and one to Liege both in the air - TNT fly under Emirates and there own Orange branding the one to Dubai is on final approach and will be down and out again rather soon - the other is not on my radar :D yet

i'd expect both planes cargo to be in UK by 01.00 am Wed and maybe just maybe out for delivery WED 05.00 AM or Thursday

well here's hoping

What are you using to monitor them?

unloading and checking in will be in next 90 min so might get an update on tracking and then onto next leg ? to East Mids Airport ? i think thats where TNT have a depot

Not sure if we will get an update then, or even if its 100% the right plane! Im sort of expecting its final destination to be Liege at about 4pm and then a separate flight to East Mids airport at god knows when.

UPS (UK) Limited - Getting the ">>> UPS could not locate the shipment details for your request. Please verify your information and try again later."

Not just me then - guess that ours are both in the UK somewhere, just not been collected and scanned in by UPS yet :( Fingers crossed for some movement later today... :D

and TNT Russia thingy has poped up on the grid now

TAY2

* Callsign: TAY002
* Flightnr:
* Reg: OO-THA

Thats not the right one, I think that one came from Shanghai and will reach its destination in just a few hours. The one that Im on about which left HK is only just in Russian airspace and is much, much further east at the moment, wont pop up on the fancy flight radar sites for some hours yet.

Just spoken to Apple, they state that the reason why the tracking details are grayed out is that their systems are undergoing maintenance, and will be back up in the near future.

Regarding the issue with shipping references having problems, this is down to Apple and UPS/TNT having a "special arrangement" that no iPad will be delivered to anyone before the 28th.

Gutted...

Well at least if you ordered it at the right time you will still get it on Friday :D

i'll look into that in a mo - dam in that case it will be a few more hours then - there goes Wed delivery then

i thought both planes from HK was 747's ? that one just in Russian Airspace is a 737

Have you asked Apple? I wouldn't put too much faith in the tracking system anyway. It seems a shambles.

Nah, not yet. I might give them a ring tomorrow if there's no update by then. I figure it's probably not going to make any difference anyway!

EDIT:

I didn't know if you were using something else. I thought you might have been using an SSR receiver. I have one of these

But they are out of my range.

:eek: that's taking the delivery status widget to a whole new level!

Dunno which one you are looking at, the TNT map shows a 737 on the ground but much further east there is a 747 in flight.

Either the one via dubai or the one Im on about should be in Liege by early evening tonight so there is still a chance for them to reach the UK during the night, not sure when the connecting flight from Liege is, I found one a week ago that got to East Midlands just after 2am but I dont know any proper liege schedule.

Plus all of this is a moot point if Apple are going to make the couriers hold the stuff till Friday anyway.

Still no response from Apple about the cancellation of my order. Got the automated email about it (finally) which states they think I've made more than one order (I haven't).

I've tried phoning and emailing again today.

Does anyone have any contact details for Apple other than the standard sales helpline/email? Obviously I could email Steve, but that seems like overkill :)

We have no UPS locally where I live...only TNT. But mine is being shipped via UPS.....

When I got my MBP recently it was delivered to me by a local independent carrier as chosen by UPS...the UPS Tracking ended in Preston.

I'm holding out a little hope that the same thing will happen again, and the independent carrier didn't get the memo about the Friday delivery....and send it out as soon as they get it...

Aviation is a big hobby of mine. With our friend having such a lot of detail I thought he might have been into the same sort of thing. My only gripe with the system is it has to run under bloody Windoze.

They are line of sight aren't they?

Yes depends on your aerial. I have a small aerial just outside the window and receive aircraft about 150 miles north and 200 miles to the south. But they are also ways to network them with other receivers in the country to improve coverage.

Same here - I'm in Aberdeen, but the closest UPS depot I can find is in Dundee, nearly 60 miles away :eek:

At this point, I'm kindof hoping that all deliveries are being held until Friday, I'm at a business meeting in Glasgow on Thursday and if it ends up out for delivery on Thursday and being taken back to Dundee, I'll be screwed until Tuesday next week (Monday being a bank holiday and all) - unless they automatically retry delivery on Friday :mad:
