Moving to Giffgaff from O2.

Get all the benefits of O2's 3G 900 band in Leeds, but the cheapness of Giffgaff. For those that haven't tried it, 3G 900 makes a massive difference when you're inside city buildings - so major plus for me.

Giffgaff: £10 a month, 250 mins, ultd texts and truly ultd internet.
(Free Sim with £5 credit here)

Only loss is visual voicemail, but hullomail can sort that out.

I'll be buying out the remainder of my contract on O2 and switching to Three, after selling my iPhone 4. Cannot believe the price of the iPhone contracts on O2 now, 2 years ago when I got my 3GS they were a similar price to what Three are now!

Does anyone know how preorders for the 4 worked on Three? (Pay full amount on preorder or desposit?)

Win?

I'll be getting mine on Tesco Mobile again.

I'm on a 12 month contract at £25.00 per month and the iPhone cost me £335 to buy.

For the whole contract, and getting the new iPhone every year, it costs me £635.

I think that's a good price becasue for £125 per year, i get 250 minutes, 5000 texts and 1gb of internet per month.

The other main attraction of this contract is the fact that it is only twelve months long so i can upgrade to the new iPhone every year!

Quick edit, i forgot on top of that, i get 10% off with my dads employee discount so the phone actually cost me £301.50 and the contract is actually £22.50 per month. A total of £571.50.

So actually, i only pay £61.50 per year for the 250 minutes, 5000 texts and 1gb of internet. Thats £5.13 per month!

The more i sit here and work it out, the more i realise what a great deal i got!

I have heard alot of things about three, some good some bad. However I've never been with them so I can only speak from what I've read on the internet. I've had the 3GS with O2 for 2 years now and can honestly call them an Average network. Their reception isn't great where I live (About 45 minutes east of London, in Essex) but then again I'm not really sure if any of the networks have great reception here. I've heard Three was apparently voted the best network for the iphone here in the uk, but at the same time are the worst for customer service. Can anyone who has had the iphone with them sum up their experience?

I've been with three, never had to use their customer service; network was stable and fast though.

Well, I brought my iPhone 4 with Tesco- yes I know lol, but they technically run through O2 and they had the best offer at the time (12 month contract, £299 for phone, £35 p/m with unlimited texts and data and 700 minutes).

I'll see what's available at the time though. T-Mobile are out of the question, reception where I live is terrible, and I'm not too sure about 3, despite their data plans.

O2 or Vodafone will be my first choices, though if the contracts are terrible (which they probably will be...) I'll just buy the phone from Apple (launch day queue YAY!) then get a SIM-only plan.

It seems like with three it really depends where you are. Some people think they're amazing and some think they're the worst thing going. I think I'll just play it safe and go with o2 because they haven't really done anything that's made me want to switch.

Ive been very happy on Giffgaff the past year, amazing for the price really.

Value for money three is way better then tesco cheap mobile network.

First of all you get way less minutes and data is capped on tesco.
Only good thing is that you will be on 12 month contract.

Still better to get three-even if your on 24 month contract you can sell your pone off after 12 months and get iPhone outright pay as you go

Not planning on buying the next iPhone as still more than happy with my 4.

That said if I do it will be handset only from apple and will continue to use my giffgaff sim, £10 a month for 250 mins, unlimited texts and data as well as giffgaff to giffgaff calls, perfect!

I pay £20pm on O2 on a 12 month contract for the iphone and I get 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 'unlimited' internet. Plus I think I got some (maybe a tenner???) back through Quidco when I signed up.

I've been with O2 since the original iPhone, with the 3G, 3GS and now iPhone 4. The two main reasons I've stayed with them are my contract gives me unlimited data and visual voicemail. That said ever since I got the original iPad and now iPad 2 I've been using less data on my iPhone.

One thing I do like is visual voicemail. It's something I rather not lose. I've never heard of hullomail. What is it ? Does it work just like visual voicemail. I plan on getting the next iPhone and I'm inclined to stay with O2. I'm not sure if their Simplicity plans offer visual voicemail.

I may just stay with my existing contract. I had T-Mobile years ago when I had a Sony Ericsson phone and wasn't that impressed with their coverage or customer service. I've never tried Three, Orange or Vodaphone although have thought about it. That said my O2 contract also gives me free Wi-Fi at BT Open Zone and BT Fone hotspots as well as the unlimited data.

I just wanted to say you UK posters are lucky with your plans! In America you can't get just data and text unless you want to use an original iPhone. And the cheapest data plan is $15 dollars and that includes nothing else and is only 200MB.

I've been with Vodafone since I got my iPhone 4 and they're the only network I've had no problem with and I live in London.

Not just signal problems but customer service problems. Orange I was very disappointed with. As the Three a couple of my friends have been with them, the signal is shocking you get texts hours day some maybe a week later then when you sent it and when they have been displeased with the service they received they have had A LOT of trouble getting out of he contract.

I'm sticking with Vodafone...

Just to add to my previous post I've been with O2 since the original iPhone and I've been more then happy with their customer service. They've always been helpful to sort out any issues. When it comes to my mobile phone experience over the last few years O2 along with Apple has been a great combination in terms of customer service.

Smaller country, denser population keeps infrastructure pricing down for providers, and allows that saving to be passed as benefits to consumers. We also seem to have the luxury of plenty of competitors to choose from.

Anyway, I'm currently on a 30-day SIM with Tmobile, but 3G data speeds are appalling (about 0.3Mbit down, 0.05Mbit up). I'm very interested in Three, as I've seen some excellent speeds from them and they offer more texts for the same amount. They cap internet at 1GB, but that's plenty for me. I've downloaded 1GB of data in 3 years (since I had an iPhone 3G) because I only really use it for looking at web pages.

However, I only just heard about the existence of this Giff Gaff provider today from this thread. It looks to be even more value, but I will need to research o2 vs 3 speeds in my area.

The OP seems to have had very positive experiences with 3, and the OP apparently likes the features of their contract. However, in the OFCOM consumer satisfaction survey, 3 was rated relatively poor in consumer satisfaction. Indeed, it seemed to trail the pack by several percentage points, although Vodafone had the highest proportion of dissatisfied customers*. The report is here. Just sayin' that everybody should look at all aspects of available packages...

I'm sticking with Orange - I have WiFi everywhere I go so data use is not an issue, and its nice to have unlimited calls to 'magic numbers' (every six months one gets to add a magic number to which calls are unlimited up to a fair use policy of 3 hrs/day. Before this deal, my ex, my kids and I racked up quite high bills). Also, I found Orange to have really helpful service for the iPhone, although I gather my positive experiences are not universal. Coverage is fair, but where I am in Scotland none of the networks is excellent - they all have gaps and weak areas. In this regard, the deal between Orange and T-mobile that allows each other's customers to use their networks has been quite a help.

*There was %neutral category, so %satisfaction and %dissatisfaction were not perfectly inversely correlated.

I'd still rather be on a 12 month contract as it gives me much more flexibility. Anyhow, as i said before

My Dad is on 3. Where we live, the signal is terrible and the customer service is VERY hit and miss.

But you had to pay for the phone outright? that makes it a lot more expensive than mine, and i wouldn't use the extra texts, minutes and data.

It seems like alot of people still want to stick their expensive O2.

I reckon coz O2 had exclusivity selling the iPhone for a long time a lot of customers joined o2 and really can't be bothered or go through the hassle changing.

Thy would get much better value for money going on three.

Three is -
Cheaper
Faster
More better coverage
More reliable
Number 1 for IPhone
