Do Toys R' Us in general sell many computers in the UK? Do they have a lot of shelf space devoted to computers in a typical store?

They generally have maybe 4 or 5 machines on display, Medion being the usual brand of choice as far as I can tell.

It wasn't until recently that I was aware they sold them at all, and certainly wasn't aware they had a line of Apple kit.

Toys R Us in the South

Oxford, Reading, Basingstoke and Woking have none but ...

Milton Keynes have an ex-display MacBook at £399 - good condition, and an iMac - 17" (I think), again at £399.

No Mac mini's for love nor money!

Ahhh, interesting... Toys R' Us really went downhill in the US over the past 10-15 years. Now, they are not the most pleasant stores to visit, per se, here. :( I remember I used to love it when I was a kid. I do occasionally go there to shop for presents, however.

Not much at York

Just rang York,

They told me only a 20" Cinema Display left - £299.

Also, iLife - i assume '06.....

No macs, sadly.

The ones I've been to recently aren't even very good for present shopping. Additionally, their return policy is bizzare. Many returns that TRU won't accept (lack of reciept), Babies R Us will take back, and I believe you can cross return. Strange.

Anyhow, if anybody out there finds a copy of .mac for sale and they want to buy me one, I'll send paypal money.

Called the hayes store, this offer has been out for the last two weeks so think we have missed the boat - they only have a 17" imac for £499 instead of £599

Not relative to toys, i'd guess they are trying to shift arounds 20 different models or so......say about 5% of the store. (i.e. half of 1 aisle in a store of 10 aisles)

Teesside has no macs left and i think the lady has got lost looking for displays.
8mins is enough to wait to,obviously nothing left.:(
shame, could of got my dad moved over to mac.

Just visited the Portsmouth & Southampton branches, both have sold out of Macs, both still have iLife 06, iWork & dot Mac at £14.95 each. I picked up a couple of dot Mac boxes.

Yay! Got me an AirPort Extress for £20 :D

EDIT: From Teesside :)

, they still had an iMac CD 17" when I was there...

Just checked with Toys R Us at Chatham, Kent (Horstead Retail Park) - no Macs left, apparently all faulty (or already earmarked by staff!), but they do have a 20" ACD "going cheap" if anyone's in the market for one.

Linkage to store details.

I imagine staff got most things, fair play to them though. I think most stores probably had a 20" ACD, 17" iMac, Macbook and a Mini. With the mini's being least damaged as display models and ACDs being able to be used on any computer they probably were most bought by staff.

Sorry, I got the AirPort Express. The iMac is on the clearence board. It was either £300, £400 or £500, I cant remember :p Ask for Doug, I talked to him and he knows best out of their staff.

Thanks to the original poster for the heads up, just picked up a core duo macbook for £350 from my local store. They've been swamped with people calling about stuff and only have an iMac left, so it looks like we're all late to the party.

The one I got has no marks on the screen or outer case, but the area around the mouse is very mucky as its been a display model and the letter J is missing from the keyboard. But apart from that it seems to be OK, so will be a perfect replacement for my wife's G4 iBook.
