I went to the Stevenage store and managed to get dotmac for £15. They had a couple more of those left and 1 copy of iWork left for £15 as well. The only hardware they had was a Cinema Display but I didn't look at the price.

The person I spoke to at the collections desk said they have had people ringing up all the time asking what they had left and he told me they did have a MacBook but they needed to send it off first because keys were missing.

If you fancy picking up sme more dotmac boxes i'm sure I will be more than grateful.

Wow!

I would recommend people keep ttrying the stores or ask to speak to the manager. I don't want to annoy those who tried Southampton over the weekend and were told none left. But I rang Monday morning and got a 1.83ghz coreduo Macbook for £350 with a slight scratch on the cover, a mucky wrist rest and slightly sticky trackpad button. Snaffled a bargain!

:):D

I think some of the stores are simply 'sick' of the phone calls now - I know when I called a few late last week you could virtually hear the groan in their voice when I said the word 'Apple'. It's far easier for them to just say 'None left' than it is for them to explain what they have, any defects etc - especially if the person calling isn't mac savvy.

I went to the Govan store last night, nothing left :( Hoped to pick up a cheap dotMac, if anyone has picked up a cheap dotMac or is going and can pick up another, I'll paypal the money.

I just phoned up my local Croydon store and they are only selling copies of iLife '07 and a half price 30" Cinema Display for about 230 GBP. There for the taking. They did say that their stock was being sold off (apart from the iPods) and that all of their Mac hardware had sold out last Friday. Looks like I was too late!

I think you mean 20"? That would be a deal and a half for a 30"!

i'm going to be phoning round edinburgh, glasgow's two stores, and dundee. today. jsut a pity i don't get paid until a week today :(

Unfortunately, I suspect profiteering is more likely to be the case - there's already one set of £14.95 .mac boxes being sold for £50 a pop.

I did ask at my local Toys R Us (Old Kent Road) on Saturday but the guy said there was nothing.

Well there isn't much wrong in someone making some money out of it, but £50 a pop is a little too much. Still a good deal but i'd think something more like £30 would be fairer.

A bit sickening really. I can understand maybe £20 each, but £50 is just wrong.
I'd rather pay the full £70 to Apple than £50 to someone ripping people off...

I can see your sentiment, but I'm not sure how you can equate selling something for £20 less than the usual price to "ripping people off"

Selling something for over three times what they paid for it is ok with you?

Can I interest you in a bridge I own?

Just called the Reading branch.

All they have left now is a 17" iMac, it has 1.83 GHz, 160 gb, 512 mb model for £399.

Sheesh, I honestly wondered how Toys "R" Us became a brokerage firm and starting selling shares of APPL! :p

That was my first thought as well. AAPL stock? On the cheap? WOO HOO!

Over here on this side of the pond, Toys R' Uses haven't usually carried Apple stuff. I do remember seeing a few crud-brand computers for sale over the years, but never anything else. *Sigh* I feel kinda sad that one of the hallmark brands of my childhood (I was an original TRU Kid!) has gone so downhill in most parts of the country. I blame Wal-Mart, personally.

Are Toys r Us getting or moving stock!?

That's strange ... I went to Toys R Us in Reading on Sunday all they had when I asked was .mac for £15 - in the trolley - even though it was marked up at 29.99 - and a copy of iLife '06.

Maybe I got an 'associate' who was hungover/couldn't be bothered to look!

It's a shame it has to be used within 9 months of purchase date, (how do they check that as I am still using the free trial), or you could stock up if you found them!

Re my bold highlight above, do you mean .mac? I didn't think the serial numbers expired (similar to Apple Care and Pro Care, I thought)

Without wanting to hijack the thread, I'm sure I read it somewhere on the piece of card the activitation code was on for .mac it must be activated within 9 months of purchase.

I am still using the two month trial so I haven't gone through the activation process. I must admit, I wish I'd bought the other copies of it now they had, at £15 each it could well have been worth a punt!

i see nothing wrong with that. it's enterprising and its still cheaper for the buyer.

Maybe it's because money isn't my main interest in life and I'd rather do people favours than profit.
Oh well takes all sorts!
