Without wanting to hijack the thread, I'm sure I read it somewhere on the piece of card the activitation code was on for .mac it must be activated within 9 months of purchase.

I am still using the two month trial so I haven't gone through the activation process. I must admit, I wish I'd bought the other copies of it now they had, at £15 each it could well have been worth a punt!

damn. After reading this thread the other day, I tipped off my mother. She went right over to the Ipswich TRU and was told that they had sold out 2 weeks ago.:(. Does anyone know of any TRU stores in Suffolk/Essex that have anything left? I'm not sure what she's after, but she's been trying to get a computer for 3 years! I think she'd be fine with an imac or a macbook.

Just a heads up to anyone who bought a laptop or similar from Toys R Us. Your original sales receipt might not have a serial number on it which could prove tricky when trying to get the Applecare activated. I bought an ex-demo Macbook from them and need to get a new battery, but they wouldn't accept the receipt as proof of purchase.

I've had to get in touch with Toys R Us head office and get them to fax something on headed paper across to my local repair agent who will then try sending that to Apple.

So it might be worth checking your receipt just now if you did buy one and also putting your serial number in to the Apple site to see when they think your Applecare started as mine was a year past.

I'm not sure what she's after, but she's been trying to get a computer for 3 years!

Those damn computers ain't easy to catch, ain't they? If only there was some kind of store where you could buy them instead of having to hunt them in the wild... ;)
