^ That's just plain ugly.

Let's look at some mouses...

Don't want the pattern. Or the side button.
Wrong.

Don't like the shape.
Why the silver?

Not dark enough. Hate the logo.
I am not pleased.

I will never use HP.
Kind of cool. But the blue ruins it.

This isn't real is it? I mean. Ugh.
I really like this one, but unfortunately- it's just tooo smaaallll! :(

lol at all the reactions

A mouse slows down ones work flow, and increases errors. Learning how to use your keyboard with it's various keyboard shortcuts will speed up computing significantly. I haven't used a mouse in years, and only use gestures on the trackpad of my MBP when they are advantageous.

You should have been there in the early days... before we used a mouse. Some programs had over a 1000 commands and if you were using SUDS (Stanford University Drawing Sytstem) to design circuit boards you had to hit the up/down/tab buttons on the keyboard to move the cursor. and then hit the enter key to select.

The first time I used a mouse on my workstation it was like wow!

That said, the trackpad with gestures is what I use now.

How does one get better at practicing to learn/memorize these?

Please enlighten us on some common navigation commands you use? Ive been wanting to get better at this.

How does it work? I am curious. srs.

I have a Logitech Revolution mouse at work and there's no way I could ever part with it. Apple mice have always been the worst to use, they do however make the best trackpads. But, Photoshopping with a trackpad is also painful (not for small projects). Software mice on iOS never match a physical mouse for me, but to each their own.

Why do u start sooo many new threads???

My guess he is trying to boost his post count......

Look at some of the other threads to get an idea that he asks some pretty silly questions.

PS: I thought this was the iPhone forum. What does a mouse question have to do with a cell phone ?

Honestly, it is the most uncomfortable and impractical mouse I have ever used (well, that's a lie, I have used worse, but there are tons of very inexpensive mice that I find to be better). I liked Apple's older mice better too, and I didn't really like those a whole lot either. BUT (and this is a HUGE BUT) if you are not gaming, using CAD programs, etc. you will likely be equally happy with a track pad (and it sounds like you already pretty much are).

I hope they invent a new kind of mouse. Something that feels good in your hands, a mouse that you never want to put down. The mouse I have is just too small. I actually have a reflex in my finger from using it. My finger automatically twitches like it's clicking, I can't control it.

It's a big problem. The mouse is terrible.

For all the agonizing pain I've been through, and money I've wasted on these ridiculous mice- I just feel like ditching laptops and mouses altogether and just get a Windows 8 tablet. I think their recipe might be a winner.

Tablets should be more than just poke and slide, I really want to get engaged in the software. I want to flick, and want to swipe, and Mikey can do it. Have you seen their Microsoft Touch software??

The topic of this thread is about the iPhone replacing mice/mouses.

Here a simple one made by Microsoft.

And this is the one I want. Simple, easy, but maybe blue or black.

I'm very good at using :apple:'s wireless track pad. Gestures are so easy on it. I wish Windows had gestures.

^ Please, let's not. Apple's legal matters aren't any of our concern.

With the mouse video he just posted. I like.

Her fingers were doing an awful lot of moving though.

I'd have to try it. I liked the feel of a touch mouse (like the iPhone) but with the practicality of an old-fashioned mouse.

I think it might be good... what kind of mouse is everyone here using?

They are if it forces a product we like to get pulled from the market.

We can't talk about that. If you're not going to rally or boycott or anything, then how can you change it? Let them do their business. Let's not be mini lawyers. It makes us look bad.

My personal favorite. So comfortable.

I kinda like this design, looks like your thumb fits snugly right in that little crevice.. hmm... interesting.. wish that Logitech logo wasn't there. But I bet it works really well.

How does one get better at practicing to learn/memorize these?.

To begin I printed out a list, chose a few of the most common commands I use, highlighted them & memorized them.

Next I set a goal of learning the ones for OS X that would benefit me most, a few at a time. I've made a point of learning them for Chrome, and other apps I use.

Now a few years later I have approx 60-80 keyboard shortcuts memorized.

The speed increase in my workflow is stunning. Well worth the effort, once my fellow engineers saw how fast I can go, it inspired them to learn shortcuts. The result is very satisfying.

Here's a good list:

2c.

For general content consumption (e.g., flicking through webpages, navigating the OS, etc) trackpads are awesome. Also, they're awesome when on the move.

For content creation (e.g., image editing) and gaming, they're crap.

I have both. I spend more time with the trackpad, but I do pull the mouse out when i need to do something with more precision.

Dude, it is a mouse!! Who cares what the logo looks like or if it is dark enough  Isnt the point to use what works best for you?

I personally don't on my MBP but my sister uses one for gaming. My dad likes using one on his PC too (doesn't like using solely the track pad for long periods of time).
