Ooh, I like. ...Wait.....why.. Why is the scroll button white? Sigh. NEXT

Has a wire.

I kinda like this design, looks like your thumb fits snugly right in that little crevice.. hmm... interesting.. wish that Logitech logo wasn't there. But I bet it works really well.

Why are you so picky? It's a mouse, comfort is all that matters. Your hand will be covering it any time you use it anyway.

Mice is for the feeble minded.

real men use trackballs

Apples next BIG PROJECT...reinventing the mouse!

I won't mind. Their current magic mouse sucks balls. Just doesn't feel right in my hand, as if Apple made it different just for the sake of making it different.

Anyway, tried the mobile mouse app, just don't see the point of it. Sucks iphone batt quite quickly, powerpoint hung when trying to click from a distance, seems extremely pressure-sensitive (even playing a simple online card game was a pain)....

I suppose if I needed to control my computer from a distance away...maybe I will see if my school tech assistant can install it on my school laptop and I can try this out in class. My laptop has to be connected to the projector at all times, and if this allows me to walk around class and still click/type...

What's the range of this app again?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

It's far enough for you to be able to leave the room, I'm sure. In which case you wouldn't be able to see what you were doing.

Range is wherever you have access to the wireless network. Not really dependent on the computer's position

I personally prefer regular mice. Only use mobile mouse when using my pc on my tv

I bought Mobile Mouse Pro as a remote for Mac Minis here that I use as entertainment centers. I found the lag infuriating, typing to be difficult, and the mouse cursor too difficult to position. I now just keep a wireless keyboard and mouse nearby for when I need one (normally I run Plex with a Logitech One remote or the Apple remote).

I'd never consider it when at my desk, and as far as using it with my MacBook it would just be another device to have to deal with.

I used to use a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 3500. It was small, it made an annoying clicking noise- why put up with that?

Image

I couldn't find anything acceptable to replace it. I just wanted a plain black mouse. No frilly colors or designs.

Then I tried using my iPhone as a wireless mouse. It works better than any mouse I've ever owned in my life. And then the thought came to me. Why am I using an old fashioned mouse when the iPhone is so much better? It's feels so natural. It not only replaces the mouse, it also replaces the track pad. The precision is crazy! I can navigate around Windows 7 like never before.

Image

You get all sorts of multitouch gestures- it's actually the best mouse I've ever owned.

It's effortless. It's one less thing I need to carry. It almost makes me feel like I'm using a touchscreen laptop.

And what's more- what mouse can play music???

Now you know what it feels like to have used any Mac laptop in the last 3 years. Magic trackpad has been around for like 2 years.

Using your phone as an input device is cool for like 20 minutes then you realize you can't efficiently switch from using the phone to using at as a mouse. Most of those apps take like a second or two to connect after the device went to sleep or even after exiting the App, that's WAY too much time to be waiting on your device to hook back up. If it goes to sleep while you're typing now you get to hit a button and swipe to unlock. This is all a pretty crappy way to use "the best mouse ever".

If I saw an individual working this way I would probably fire them. Just get the magic trackpad, that is the best mouse ever for a non-Mac Laptop/pc.

We shouldn't have to choose between form and function. I'm not asking for much. Just a plain black mouse that works. Why does it seem like Apple is the only company with products that are clean and uniform?

You would fire someone just for using their iPhone as a mouse??? I wonder what kind of business you're in. I'm not sure I like trackpads. Actually, I know I don't like them. I couldn't buy a magic trackpad for obvious reasons.

My question would be, why would you need a magic trackpad as a seperate device? Why isn't it already built into the laptop.

I still haven't decided what I will do about my mouse problem.

I don't know how aggressive people are in trying to reinvent the mouse. At this point no track load, no app, no AR can beat it.

But, they already did. With the Magic Mouse.

I bought a magic mouse, and it is literally no different than an ordinary mouse. Yes, it has a few multi-touch gestures. Not really that great...the gestures do pretty much what the scroller would do. And it's extremely uncomfortable for anyone with large hands.

I've also used mobile-mouse pro. It's good for watching movies while I'm on the couch. Beyond that, I can't find any use for it. I'd much rather use a physical trackpad with a button. And I'd always prefer a mouse - precision and speed in video editing. Final Cut isn't as easy to maneuver with just a keyboard like Avid is, so I would never trade a mouse for any kind of trackpad while editing. It's terribly annoying. Even navigating protools, I would never prefer trackpad over a mouse. So, to answer the question, "why are we still using the mouse?" - for those who use computers for professional-level work and non-leisurely purposes.

Would make that person ever regret pulling out that Mickey mouse solution in front of me. Unacceptable if someone is paying you for your time - full stop. I'm in software development.

I wouldn't use a magic trackpad with my Mac because it is indeed built in. My suggestion was for anyone who would like an actual logical alternative to what you suggest.

The magic trackpad has all the positives as a control device the iPhone offers

- glass multitouch surface with gesture support

with none of the negatives:

- using your communications device as a control (non-exclusive access makes it less effective as a phone and a control device
- the iPhone has a smaller surface area by quite a bit
- the iPhone lacks tactile feedback of a "click"
- there would be significant impact to the battery of the phone if it was the primary input device for an 8 hour day
- the lag time mentioned in my previous post is unacceptable

I went through the same thing when I hooked up a Mac mini as my HTPC. Even in my free time I chose not to deal with the hassles mentioned above when apple makes a PERFECT alternative you can get refurb for $45.

The person using the method you suggest would be chastised not just for the ineffiency of the actual decision, but for the lack of logic the decision represents.

But your requirements are unlikely to be met. You want an unbranded mouse. If it looks good, it will have a logo on it. Maybe just buy a mouse and sand off the logo. There are many good looking mice out there.

I'm curious, why does it HAVE to be plain black? Are you too distracted by anything that is white or has any other color? Would you feel the need to stare at it every time you move it? I understand not wanting a super ugly mouse, but honestly, if it's comfortable and improves your workflow, isn't that what's really important?

You can start right now, I will continue to use my mouse.

That is a sexy mouse. Too bad I don't have a computer to match.

In my case, the laptop, and the mouse has to match. If I change the mouse, I'd have to change the laptop.

This is an example of an (almost) perfect mouse.

It's just about an inch too small. That's the only problem.

Wow...I'd much rather have a mouse that help me work faster than to have one specifically because it matches my laptop. I'm very appreciative of good design, but for something like a mouse, function is more important than form.

For a professional, uniform look. When something is eccentric looking, I just don't feel comfortable using it. I like uniformity.

Why do people say that if it looks good, it probably doesn't work? I've had friends tell me this when I went out buy a car.

Somebody called you immature in another thread and i couldnt read the things you deleted so i didnt know why and maybe it doesnt relate here but your thoughts in here on a mouse of all things are really baffling.
Who cares what it looks like. It should be all about how it works for you. You have to have your mouse match your laptop and if not, you would need to get another laptop? LMAO.... do you realize how lame that sounds?
You might have OCD!

When i needed a new mouse, i went to best buy and just got something that didnt look like it was for a girl and was wireless. Thats it...didnt care that it is smaller than my last one...which it is but i got used to it quickly. It is responsive and works great and you know what? I didnt even realize the logo is on the bottom til i read this thread and looked and if it was on the top....who cares? Maybe my logo rubbed off, i dont know, all i know is mine is on the bottom. Not on top. It is a Logitech M215.

I really dont think any chicks are going to flock to you because of the mouse you are using like some people here think they do because of their iPhone.

And this. I sure hope you dont buy a Hyundai because it has some extra LED's inside that make it look cool or maybe you like the back bumper better compared to say a Toyota, because if you do, your going to regret that decision.

It's not OCD, it's called attention to detail. What I am asking for isn't much. I care about what things look like down to the bone- because I have to. If someone were to get me a mouse for Christmas that did not match my laptop, I'd take it back like most people would.

Shopping for a mouse and just picking any one up (especially from Best Buy) is a very dangerous way to shop. Also, if the mouse doesn't look good, no one is going to give it any attention. And who cares about chicks?

And also, don't quote me on this, but I get plenty of action lol. But thanks for your opinion.
