Emojis are a political playground / virtue signaling by these companies.

Well, “virtue signaling” is a political playground by far-righters, so I guess fair’s fair.

Instead of focusing on more emojis (there are already too many), they should complete the subscripts and subscript categories with Latin and Greek letters, people has been asking for them for decades.

What do you mean? Which letters are missing?

I may be getting old but to me there are two emojis (which used to be called smilies or emoticons back in my day) and they are :) and :(

Anything else is ambiguous and I have no idea what the other person is trying to say.

Well, I'm sure this will solve the post-Coronavirus economic meltdown...

P.S. I hate when MacRumours makes up another inane headline focussing on Emoji. Unicode is so much more than just emoji.

An example from Emoji 13.0 is the black cat, which is internally a combination of the cat emoji and black large square emoji.

This is why Unicode is such a cluster****. Combo codes that people just pulled out of their hats that do different things in different situations, make parsing Unicode for developers super difficult.

Yet another one who doesn’t understand that this has nothing to do with Apple. It’s Unicode. Putting so much energy on useless comment.
I can't believe they're putting so much energy on such useless stuff...

It’s good you understand that diversity, inclusion and acceptance are virtuous. But the companies themselves don’t decide which emojis to add, it’s the Unicode Consortium. So the comment is best directed at them, not the companies themselves.
The companies is Uniform Consortium members…

I don't know if I'm just too old (39) why do we need more and more emojis? It's such a waste of resources. I mean, Unicode Consortium has to coordinate it, developers need to put a lot of work into it...real benefit zero! So what if there was no mammoth emoji?

I don't know if I'm just too old (30s) why do we need more and more baseball games? It's such a waste of resources. I mean, MLB has to coordinate it, coaches and athletes need to put a lot of work into it…real benefit zero! So what if there was no world series?

....is there some aspect about this that needs to happen in person that requires delaying?
