He doesn't look a lot like Steve Jobs, but I think people tend to focus too much on that aspect. To me at least it's not very important. It's about his life, which is supposedly interesting enough to justify a movie, not about how the individual people looked. Once you are over the fact, it just doesn't matter. Look at Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg. I mean, he has curly hair, that's about all similarites they share, still, nobody cared. Even Noah Wyle as Steve Jobs wasn't quite as close as people are remembering. It's much more about acting, how they talk, move and so forth. The rest is up to suspension of disbelief anyway.

Personally I was hoping for Jean-Claude Van Damme. He's due for a comeback isn't he? And Chuck Norris would have been perfect for Woz.

Mark Zuckerburg was a nobody before that movie. thats why it got a pass on the not needed close resemblance thing.

We all know it was supposed to be Bale + Fincher for the masterpiece.

Had to turn away from the trailer when I saw Seth :/ This is not gonna go well.

Should have just said "releasing this Fall." Then release it the last possible day of Fall. Would totally work.

i don't care what anyone says - i liked the kutcher movie. had that saturday afternoon time wastin' vibe. no regrets, would watch again.

at least he had a barely-there resemblance and got the mannerisms right, to the point i didn't even care it was kutcher - i was there for the story. regardless of how i agree with most people here about how acting trumps resemblance, well, there's a michael fassbender in that there movie. not even close to a steve jobs. this may take me out of the moment.

I'm still confused as to why they're making another movie. Is this one supposed to be more real to his life or something?

My gut feeling is that this will be an excellent film.

Those who have a myopic fixation on Fassbender not looking exactly like Jobs clearly don't have an understanding of 'suspension of disbelief', which any halfway decent filmmaker knows is essential.

uh, no. the suspension of disbelief is exactly what people are cocerned with here. it's not entirely up to the filmmaker whether a viewer experiences the phenomenon, it depends on the acting and, in the case of biopics, resemblance.

some people will be fine with it, some people won't, it has nothing to do with anyone's 'understanding' or 'failures to see it a certain way.'

plus, the story is getting so familiar, many people are entering into the 3rd or 4th movie about Jobs with some well deserved hesitance. his near absence of Jobsian features just adds to it.

Yea I thought the movie was good also but.....

all i'm really saying is that looks can help. i.e. terrance howard is a great actor, but if the ray charles biopic was slated for Jamie Foxx and then he dropped out (...and seth rogan was in it), i simply would have lost 50% of my interest. Terrance Howard simply doesn't fit the role, even if he gave a good performance.

does anyone *really* think fassbender is 100% into this project with his full heart and passion? i seriously doubt it. this thing was bungled publicly a few times from the start - i'd wager good money his agent coaxed him into the role for exposure. he's a big name, but this will bring him into household name status. i'll have to be truly wowed to get over my cynicism about this flick.

I look forward to this movie. It should be interesting how they portray Apple and Steve Jobs.

Funny, after I posted I saw your comment posted just before mine and thought, 'this person gets it'.

I agree that Fassbenders appearance may not seem Jobs-like enough for some to suspend their disbelief, but I was referring more to the filmmakers awareness that they will have to overcome that very limitation.

well, i'm not a total debby downer. i *hope* for all involved it will be good. the filmmakers are gonna have to work pretty damn hard to win this whiner over. ;)

This must be a first, the actor not looking exactly like the historical character. I'll give this a pass for this reason alone.

:D I hear you.

With the talent involved in this project it certainly has the potential to be good, provided they don't just phone it in.

Will be insane if Apple makes the iPhone 6s Plus keynote in the same week as the release date for this film...10/9/15

----------

Getting in line for the release of this movie will be insane...mostly with Apple fans and then scanning in their tickets through their Apple Watches. Only movie in which I feel like the majority of the film-going public to see this film on opening weekend will have an Apple Watch...

Nope. The rollout of the watch will mean only celebrity's & tech reviewer's will have an Apple Watch.

Hopefully this will be better than Jobs the movie, as others have said. Hopefully they will also touch on iPhone and other things before Steve died.

if I recall correctly the movie focuses on the backstage drama behind three keynotes-

Mac
Next
iMac.

Sorkin was smart enough not to try and out do Steve's iPhone keynote.

I've never understood the hate for the Ashton Kutcher film. I thought it was just fine--not great but not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. It was engaging and entertaining.

Not sure what to make of this teaser. Doesn't make me feel any excitement but I'll keep an open mind.

Fassbender is an abomination as Jobs

I won't see it for that reason, alone. If the remotest resemblance doesn't matter - as many will say and have said - then how would feel about Will Smith portraying Steve Jobs? If you say you'd be okay, then all know you're being disingenuous.

So, why wasn't Jamie Foxx considered for it? After all, he's an Oscar winner.
