if I recall correctly the movie focuses on the backstage drama behind three keynotes-

Mac
Next
iMac.

Sorkin was smart enough not to try and out do Steve's iPhone keynote.

Having read the screenplay, the drama focuses largely on Steve and his daughter Lisa. That's where all the conflict is.

does anyone *really* think fassbender is 100% into this project with his full heart and passion? i seriously doubt it. this thing was bungled publicly a few times from the start - i'd wager good money his agent coaxed him into the role for exposure. he's a big name, but this will bring him into household name status. i'll have to be truly wowed to get over my cynicism about this flick.

Yes, I do. He's a professional who takes his craft very seriously, no matter if it's a hard hitting drama or a comic book movie prequel. To assume that he isn't putting his best efforts into this shows a fairly disrespectful assumption toward his work ethic.

He doesn't need to star in this for exposure. He's one of the leads in a very popular X-Men franchise. Which he is great in.

Wow, that guys looks nothing like Steve Jobs.

When you're past the first 10 minutes of the movie, the guys skills are way more important than his looks, to make the movie realistic and good. And that is what Fastbender excels at!

Finished reading the screenplay tonight. Have to say it's remarkable piece of drama. I'm a fan of Sorkin and this is his finest work yet. Didn't think he could top The Social Network but this has such great drama and heart and truth.

That's what I've been reading as well (based on the Sony email leaks). It's apparently a 10/10 script.

As someone who knows a little bit about casting and acting. the first thing that was said in that casting meeting was who the F looks like steve jobs and can also say two lines without giving Mr. Danny Boyle and crew an aneurysm.

Or, hire the best possible actor within reason.

If the worst complaint about the film ends up being "he doesn't look like Steve Jobs", then I'll assume that means the film did excellent in the actual important elements.

all i'm really saying is that looks can help. i.e. terrance howard is a great actor, but if the ray charles biopic was slated for Jamie Foxx and then he dropped out (...and seth rogan was in it), i simply would have lost 50% of my interest. Terrance Howard simply doesn't fit the role, even if he gave a good performance.

Cynicism and pre-judgement are a dangerous thing. I thought Guardians of the Galaxy looked like a load of silly old garbage when I saw the trailer and was convinced it would be a complete turkey. How wrong was I, best fun I had at the cinema last year.

Trailer was okayish until I saw Seth , are we sure this will not be a comedy ?

Agree. The greatest professional impersonator, Rich Little, did impersonations of people where the voice habits, regular jesters and mannerisms will have you ignore the looks in the first few seconds. A good actor can watch someone for a while and jump into that demeanor.

Just to confirm , this trailer? Cause the trailer represented the movie quite well.

... Why FB succeeded had very little to do with tech and more about just catching a wave at the right time.

But the movie wasn't even about that...just stupid drama about getting the girls, which is hilarious because Zuckerburg had a steady girlfriend that entire time.

So, the problem with Social Network was that it told a different story than the one you were interested in. Got it.

Sort of. The movie should have captured what was a unique moment in history, and to me it felt like overdramatized crap I'd seen in plenty of movies before.

The actors will be fine. I'm most worried about Sorkin's script for this one. IDK why everyone seemed to love the Social Network, it was all about made-up, silly drama instead of the tech.

Scared this is just going to be pointless and/or made-up human drama with Apple as an afterthought.

This movie is about Steve Jobs, not Apple.

Prepare to be dissapointed.

When are they going to realize that a Syeve Jobs movie just isn't that interesting? This is like the 38th attempt at this now, right?

Enough. We "get it". He was a dork, he did some nerdy stuff, he got kind of lucky, wealth and happiness ensued. Then he died. Whatever.

The entire life of Steve Jobs reduced to "Then he died. Whatever."

From now on, I will never be surprised at the "meh" response new Apple products get. Sometimes, you just can't impress people, and this is a perfect example.

Put in Noah Wyle and send Seth Rogen to North Korea and that'd be a great movie. At least kick out Seth Rogen, he's mediocre actor.
