Maybe the trailer is just a victim of poor editing but it feels like its one of those movies where if you see the trailer you've seen the movie.
Hard to say that's what it will really be as a whole simply going by the trailer.Maybe... But I'll hate it even more than the last one. Whilst Steve had negative traits (like any human), this seems to be an overly negative portrayal, forgetting the good. I just don't like the uneducated masses getting the wrong impression, but as The Wizard of Woz once said: "I can enjoy it even if it's very much fiction"
Neither did Jesse Eisenberg and Mark Zuckerberg.

Trailers can represent one aspect of a film but not necessarily the whole thing. They are there to entice someone to see the film, do sometimes they will focus on more controversial or interesting parts to build up some of that interest even if the whole film overall isn't specifically about that or gives that impression as a whole.True, but isn't the trailer supposed to represent the movie and entice the audience?
If this isn't a fair representation of the entire film's portrayal of him, great, but that's a sign of a bad trailer, which could suggest a bad film. If not, reverse it
Then why do people (especially the general public who has seen Jobs as much or as little as they have Zuckerberg) care about what Jobs looks like?Nobody cares what Zuckerberg looks like. Generic geek surfices.
How so? Movies about all kinds of figures are done well after they have lived or have been popular/influential, just as they are done even while they are still alive.Meh. Sorry. Feel like it's about 2 yrs too late.
Well, at the every least it's a dramatization, so not everything will be exactly as it was, as is the case with most movies (short of documentaries perhaps).Looks interesting as long as you aren't expecting a truthful portrayal.

Sure. There's that too. Not everything in this movie is likely an over-the-top dramatization.Sometimes the truth, properly presented, is far more interesting and entertaining than an over-the-top dramatization.
Probably not, but the Woz speech at the beginning set that sort of tone for me, which then lingered through the rest of the trailer.Sure. There's that too. Not everything in this movie is likely an over-the-top dramatization.
Since none of us where there, and it's a matter of who you read, I guess no one really knows for sure.
This seems to be a common hangup on the forums that I don't get. I guess it would be nice if the actor looked like the guy, but the acting and directing and general production quality is of much greater concern to me.I'm sorry but Fassbender has absolutely no resemblance to Jobs.

Is it that we can't tell any of those things until the movie comes out, so we just go on what the actors look like?

Sorry, I've seen enough comments like this where I must speak up. So what if he's not a spitting image of Jobs? The point of an acting performance isn't mimicry–its to capture the essence and emotion of someone and convey that over 120 minutes. There have been hundreds of great biopics in Hollywood where the actor bore only a slight resemblance to the original person, and the movies were no worse for it. If you crave impersonations, watch Rich Little, Jim Carey or Frank Caliento. If you wanna see a performance that captures the essence of Jobs the man, not Jobs the body, then watch a movie made by people with a **** ton of Acedemy Award nominations who know what they're doing.I'm sorry but Fassbender has absolutely no resemblance to Jobs.
Yeah, people love to pile on about how "bad" Kucher was, but he wasn't the reason that movie underperformed. It was poorly directed and had a weak script. Kucher and whatshisname who played Woz actually did a decent job with the 1K worth of material they had to work with.Fassbender is the better actor. And this, will most almost likely be the better movie.
But Kutcher was able to portray the appearance of Jobs. There was moments of his portrayal that I got caught up his ability to look and sound very much like steve..
The first one had Noah Wyle playing Steve Jobs. The best one was the first one with Justin Long. It really captured the spirit of the moment. Plus the scene where Justin playing Steve is criticizing the actor play Justin was priceless.
