What customer type did you use? Current, Previous, GoPhone or Non ATT customer?
non att first few times then i was getting instant denies by the system so i switched to prepaid customer (need prepaid number 6 months old, could be old one that is not working anymore) which were denied after reviews each time, then back to non att cust which went to review this time and after 3rd review unlock was approved

FYI Request the unlock online. I have two iPhone 6's both on NEXT and both are not paid off yet.

I requested an unlock via their website. with my iPhone 6 and it was unlocked immediately.

I then requested for my wife (who is going to Japan in March and wants to use her phone) and it was denied because it said it was in contract.
I sent in a second request and it said it was denied because of NEXT. I sent in a 3rd request and they said, congratulations your phone is now unlocked.

I tested both phones with my sim out of my work phone (verizon).

Bottom line, request on their website and then request again and again and you will get it unlocked for free.

What is the reason for unlocking phones again?

I never tried this with my in contract iPhone 6+. I just came back from a vacation in Europe and I needed the unlock, so about a month ago I trolled ebay and found a seller who unlocked for $17. When in Europe I unlocked my mom's iPhone 6 for $20. Free is always better, but oh well.

The unlock was the best thing I did though, although "free" wifi was available everywhere the speeds sucked and kept constantly timing out(especially the ones offered in restaurants). The convenience of connectivity everywhere was great.

So I have tried to request an unlock on AT&T with no luck. I've requested about 6 times (each time waiting for a reply) and gotten denied each time for the phone being on next and not fully paid off. I was wondering I had another upgrade so trying to use the sale money to pay off the phone but can't sell the phone without unlocking, so I am in a bit of a pickle... Any suggestions?

Keep trying. Take a few minutes and read through the previous posts on this thread. Others have tried different tweaks on the information provided in the unlock request. With varying degrees of success.

For example as in my case, if you have multiple lines/numbers on your AT&T account try using one of those withe your IMEI.

I'm traveling overseas next week and my previous unlock attempts failed due to still being under contract. But the above worked for me, THANKS!

I got the following e-mail when I tried to unlock:

"

Unlock request number: XXXXXXXXXX

Thank you for contacting AT&T about unlocking your mobile device.

Congratulations! Here are your unlock instructions:

Questions? Please call 800.331.0500, or dial 611 from your AT&T wireless phone.

"

Only thing was there are no instructions. So did I successfully get my iPhone6+ unlocked and all I need to do now is restore it??

From what I have read, you don't have to restore it. If you have a non-AT&T SIM card, try putting it in and see if your phone takes it. BTW, how did you get AT&T to unlock it for you? I have tried countless times and still not successful.

I used my IMEI with my wifes phone number. We have multiple lines.

I registered on this site just to provide my personal experience on how I unlocked my iPhone 6 on AT&T next. Per the prior posts, I kept requesting the unlock online via AT&T's website. I finally got the "congratulations! here's the instructions" email on one of the tries, maybe try # 6 or 7. Then per the previous posts, I did NOT restore as I thought the iPhone 6 didnt need it. I took my phone to Tmobile to check whether it was unlocked, and they said it was still locked.

I then came home and actually followed AT&T's instructions on backing up and restoring via iTunes. I went back to the same Tmobile store, and they said this was it was unlocked.

So, for me, I actually had to do the restore in order to get it unlocked. Hope this helps some of you.

I'm off to London next week and am glad to be able to use my phone there!

What was different on the successful request?

Hi everyone,

I tried maybe 10 times to unlock, trying a few different things (like using a different phone number on the account and checking the gophone box) and my request was denied instantly every time. I am still on Next and not paid off with an iPhone 5s. For a while the instant denials would say that I was denied because I was still on Next. After I tried switching things up with a different number and my IMEI, they simply said "this device is not eligible for an unlock at this time." and there was no resubmit link in the email like before. Then I went back to try my number again, and it said the same thing, no submit link. I'm worried my phone has been flagged or something because of my repeated attempts because they didn't give me the link to try again. I checked my phone on swappa and it seems ok...should I just keep trying or wait a few days?

I had tried to unlock my NEXT iPhone 6+ about 15 times over the last couple of weeks with no joy. Today I tried again but this time using another number on my account and my IMEI and this time I have success!
Just in time for a trip to the UK in a few months.

i am ready for 6 plus unlock via att site when i upgrade to 6s and 6s plus

cant wait -"

I did this just for the heck of it on my iPhone 6 that is still under contract. First time it said no because it was still under contract. Second time I used my IMEI code and the wife's number (on same account and her phone is under contract too) and it accepted it and sent unlock instructions. I may hook it up to iTunes when I get home tonight and see what it says.

NEVER GIVE UP!

I tried about 30 times and always got instant denials... then today I tried feeding the form slightly incorrect info and it actually worked!

This time I gave the phone number of the other line on my account which is also under contract but a traditional 2 year contract instead of Next. I gave the form my own IMEI (for an iPhone 6 still under Next) and it worked! I got the congratulatory email just 5 minutes later. So strange... I assume since all of this is controlled by IMEI that my own phone was just unlocked and not my mom's (lol) but who knows. Will restore soon and find out.

Thank you all! If this actually works (which it seems to have so far) you will all have saved me $50 and made my upcoming trip to Japan much easier!

I just tried this method and got the congratulatory email myself! Thanks!

I'm tried to unlock my iphone 6 on Next for a week with no luck. Can anybody try my imei with own phone number?
