Question:

AT&T unlocked my Next 12 128G iPhone 6+s (Model A1634) a few days ago. Got lucky! Yay! Does this now mean I essentially have the sim-free model phone as well?

I'm going to the UK next week, and have been trying to unlock my phone several times now without luck. The response is almost immediate:

"Unfortunately, your unlock request was denied because:

You have not completed all the payments for your device according to your AT&T Next service agreement."

It's like a robot is responding. How are you all having luck with this???

Same question. No luck. I'm premier and have tried both the consumer and business portals. Nothing. My wife doesn't want to use the phone and is sticking with her 6. I love it, but am using Tmo. I may have to switch to cricket. Can you submit too many times?

Thanks for the suggestion. I did what you suggested and my unlock request was approved! I have an iPhone 6 on NEXT that is not paid off as well but it is now unlocked. I did the restore through iTunes and got the "congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked" message. Can't believe they approved it!!

I've had my iPhone 6 for a month purchased via NEXT, and as I stated the unlock request was approved today on the first try. I used iTunes to restore and unlock. I have no plans to leave AT&T though.

So i have a question... My boyfriend done the unlock thing from the website but Its telling him he has to wait 2 business days for approval. I was curious what you mean exactly when u said u want to iTunes and restored and it unlocked ur phone right then. I am sure I read that a few other times down this list as well.... Please and thank u of course

Restoring through iTunes reinstalls the operating system, and then once it's done you will see the unlocked message.

I used this method because I didn't have another carrier's SIM card to test it out. If you have a T-Mobile SIM card, you can check it that way to see if it's been unlocked.

Ok... But how do u do that... Can u Please give me step by step. I went to iTunes for him and haven't the faintest idea of where to find this restore u speak of. I even searched it

First of all, back up the phone. Turn off the phone's passcode and sign out of iCloud if you use it. Once you've backed up the phone, you have to plug the phone into the computer and then open iTunes. Once it recognizes your phone, you will see that there is a restore button or update button. You want to hit restore. It will take a while to do this. Once it restores you will see the message if the phone is indeed unlocked.

Honestly, all this information is on the Apple website. Just google "restore iPhone".

no luck with 6s :(

I wonder what criteria AT&T uses to unlock iPhones. I was more than ecstatic when my 128 Rose Gold 6s Plus was unlocked when I haven't even made a payment on it yet. Not only does it increase in resell value but I can travel the world with no issues. Makes my day!

I just wanted to chime in and say my iPhone 6 Plus on an AT&T two-year contract with 11 months left could not be unlocked after 17 attempts using the online form.

All 17 attempts have provided the same denial stating my contract has yet to be fulfilled and all 17 attempts I received the denial response email immediately after confirming the request.

It's a crapshoot. I got 6 plus unlocked on contract.

Yet I paid off my lg G3 in full and requested unlocked even went to tier support and was denied multiple times. It's because I had a warranty trade in and now the system is so confused thinking I haven't paid off the phone and I also switch accounts with the phone from my line to another line on my brother line using the same G3

I was reading this thread yesterday and decided to give mine a try, an iPhone 5S 32 GB. I got mine through Next, still have about 15 payments on it (I am slow to upgrade iPhones). I filled out the request online and was told it would take two business days to complete. I just got an email now telling me the process was complete and my iPhone was unlocked and to visit some link to complete the process. Assuming all I need to do is do a backup and restore through iTunes.

I paid off my device and when I submitted my request via the website I keep getting that the account information is not accurate and getting denied because of that. I do know that the information is accurate so I don't know what's the problem. Maybe their servers are ****ed up?

I bought a locked phone from Craigslist at&t locked. Tried unlocking it by submitting a request, (actually, some one helped me did as am not in the USA, or an at&t user . Checked the imei and request number, I saw the message ,the imei number does not match a device compatible with the at&t network.
Please what does it mean? Thanks

I don't know why some unlock requests for iPhones that aren't fully paid off work and some don't. I've tried a few times over the last six months with no success. The response is always immediate, suggesting that no human is involved. I wouldn't care much, but I'm traveling in a few months and I want to use a local SIM. When the iPhone 7 comes out, I may switch to Apple's upgrade plan. It forces you to get AppleCare, but the phone is unlocked.

Good news is my out of contract 5s was able to get unlocked.

Bad news is my new 6s Plus cannot be unlocked. No matter what I do I keep getting denied because my ATT Next payments are not finished yet.

It takes about 1 yr for the phone to be eligible for unlocking. So all the iPhone 6 and 6+ should be able to unlock now. But 6s and 6s+ will not be unlockable yet. You can try a 3rd party site if you need them unlocked.

I have iPhone 6 and when trying to unlock via at&t site is showing as "not fulfilled contract".

Is there a way to check when it would be eligible to unlock?

Or I have to pay one of this third party sites to unlock it for ~$100?
