has anyone used the iSee iPhone 3G case? I have always used the iSee cases for my iPods and they are great. Not much bulk, sleek design. Is the iPhone case the same?

John

I'm definitely going to try to get a see-thru case. I'd love to truly leave it "naked" but I know I'm too clumsy and will drop it within a week of getting it.

I installed IS and quickly removed it as the effect of sliding my finger accross the screen felt very strange and it didn't slide well as it caught and would rub (hard to describe)... once I took it off, interaction just felt better. I want to just go naked, but I don't want to pay $500 for a replacement if I mess it up (I dropped my first-gen iPhone only once, but it dented up the corner and made a 4mm scratch on the screen that I couldn't help but always notice). But I can't find the perfect solution: super-sleek, doesn't change the look and screen interaction feel, protects fairly well. Anything else out there? :)

I have. It's a nice case with one unacceptable flaw. Once you flip the silent switch, you CANNOT switch it back with terrible effort or taking off the case. Stay away from this case if you ever use the silent switch.

plus the case gets scratched easily, even from just wiping:eek: I don't also like the removable rubber buttons:( So I'm waiting for my icebox as replacement.:D

Besides waiting for the Naked Case, I am almost considering the IceCase from Macally.

The Ice Case looks pretty good. I wonder how thick it is, though. I don't need the belt clip/stand, it says it's removable but doesn't show picks without it and I am wondering if there's a stub or something that is left when removed.

The thing I don't like about the Naked Case is the plastic screen... that is why I returned IS, the feel of my finger running across glass can't be replicated on plastic and I don't want to lose that... I think edge protection will protect the screen for most drops, IMO. The Naked Case also looks pretty thick.

I want the thinnest case possible (minimal bulk, naturally) and can't do any sort of silicon as they don't slide well into a pocket. Any other candidates out there? :)

According to the following site the ivy and casemate naked case are the same case . . . can anyone confirm this? Also, has anyone purchased this case and cane the vouch for the thickness of the case and how much bulk it adds to the iphone. I would also like to know how responsive the "membrane" over the screen is.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Oh, here is the link . . .

are there any film skins yet?

I just received and applied my film skin from:
http://www.bestskinsever.com/servlet/the-88/iPhone-3G-Skin/Detail
($8)

A casual viewer wouldn't notice anything different from a naked iPhone 3G, and it does help prevent scratches.

Still, even with the bestskinever applied, I have mine inside this hard plastic clear case I got cheap ($2.50+ $5 shipping):
http://www.sourcingmap.com/crystal-rigid-plastic-case-for-iphone-p-19215.html

So, there you go. Full film-skin (including screen, bezel, and back), and a hard clear plastic case for $15.50 total. All the cases I saw at the Apple store were $30 plus.

And i got this pink silicone one for my wife's iPhone 3G white:
http://www.sourcingmap.com/pink-smooth-silicone-skin-case-cover-for-apple-iphone-p-17698.html ($2.99 + $5 shipping)

Does the best skin ever cover the chrome?

Thanks,

Y2J

I plan to get a decal for my iphone when I receive my DF and want to show it off still and maybe get a clear case. I have done some research and like the griffin clear case the best but they don't make one yet for the 3g. I am undecided which one I want but i don't want it bulky. I don't plan on docking it only plugging in the usb to charge so i don't need a two part case. I i really just like simplicity just like the iphone. Any suggestions of ones I maybe haven't seen?

Yes, but not completely. The bestskinever I got comes in two pieces: one for the front and one for the back. The front skin is just flat, and covers the entire black area of the front of the phone, but not the chrome. The back skin has cuts in it so that it conforms to the curved back of the phone. It's outer edges cover about 2/3 of the width of the chrome bezel, all the way around the phone.

the skin does preserve the "naked" look of the phone. You just have to try and squeeze out any "bubbles" that form under the skin before finishing the application procedure (which involves applying the skins wet), using a credit card or something.

Still, though, I feel even more secure having the skin-covered phone inside a hard clear plastic case. Also, the skin makes the phone much less slippery in the hand, which makes it harder to get into my pants pocket, so the plastic hard case makes it easier to get into my pocket. It doesn't add much bulk to it at all. The one I got seems to add less bulk than the $30 ones I've seen in the apple store, and it was only $7.50 shipped. (It, of course, completely covers the chrome.)

This way, if I ever drop the phone hard, much of the energy of the fall will probably go into either scratching the case or breaking it open, but even if the phone comes out of the case it will still be scratch-protected by the skin.

Has anyone used the DLO videoshell? Clean, simple, does not cover the face so crap cant get in between the screen and shell as easy, 20 bucks and come with a what they call surface shield for the face which I read on here is pretty good. I dont need a kickstand but o well. Id like to see pictures if anyone has them the website does not give very good ones.

This is the only other one I like but I not too keen on buying something from hong kong.

Dont you think that's a little over the top?
Perhaps you should add a third case...you know, for water protection;)

Now there's an idea. . . :D

As for over the top. . . well, maybe. But I figure, those hard cases often trap dust or dirt particles in between the casing and the phone, and can actually CAUSE scratching, so the skin should prevent that. And, hey, if I can double-protect my phone for half the price of the typical retail case, why shouldn't I?

anyone know if griffin will come out with a clear case? I saw my buddies i pod touch case and love it because the back is rippled I dont know how to explain it but offers alot of grip and scratches wont show as easily.

I ordered the Naked Case from Case Mate for the upcomming iphone 3G 16Gb black...

I ordered it about 10 days ago...do hopefully they will begin shipping in the next 2 weeks.

I ordered my XyloT3 case last Saturday and got a shipping confirmation today via USPS!

I will post some pics and review when I get it. I already got a similar case Gear4 Icebox but I wanna try out other clear cases and hope to find one that I like and keep permanently. Besides if I like the Xylo than the Icebox, I can just give my Icebox to my wife for her 3G Iphone

Has anybody got their XyloT3 yet? Could you post some pics and review? Was it anything like my Icebox? Please see link below for pics and review of my Icebox. Thanks.

here's another case that I saw on a banner being advertised here in the forum :p

http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page.asp?divid=&model=iphone+3g&skuno=81344

Has anybody tried this yet?

I ordered this case last tuesday, and had it on my iPhone friday. They have great online customer service and obviously the case is in stock and shipping was fast. From what I can tell it's exactly like similar cases that completely cover the screen.

I bought the Countour iSee from the apple store shortly after launch day and wasn't happy with the plastic button covers, and as mentioned once you set the silent switch to vibrate it was very difficult to switch it back, but it is possible.
