New MBPs will most certainly see M2, WIFI 6e, Space Gray charging cables, and Pre-loaded Ventura.

Wishful thinking:
- Faster SD Card slots
- Improved 1080p Camera with wide lens and Center Stage
- Smaller Notch
- Internal SIM card
- HDMI 2.1
- Batteries that keep their advertised capacities for more than just six months.

If it's not tomorrow then im sure it'll happen within the next 2 months. Try hang on on for the new one coz I would be kicking myself if id brought one then a few days or weeks later there's a new one out, no matter how little an upgrade.
Yeah, I know. I crossed my fingers that this rumor would come true because I need a new computer.

I can't wait for Youtubers to have headlines "Has Apple GIVEN UP on Apple Silicon?!" of "Apple has LOST to AMD & Intel and HERE's WHY" after it's announced as 5nm and a spec bump as if their laymen opinions and thoughts really matter.

With a shocked face thumbnail

I agree and unfortunately if it is a very minor spec update, the chances are high that the connectors will not be updated. Especially since Apple shipped the Apple TV 4k (Oct `22) with hdmi 2.0 support considering HDMI is the primary connector there.
That’s incorrect. Not only does the 2022 ATV support HDMI 2.1, but even the 2021 model does too.

Given that more professionals use macbooks over Apple TV I'd say 2.1 would be a #1 priority as it would allow Apple to launch a 120hz Pro Display XDR.

Plus TV and movies won't benefit from 2.1.
Nope. HDMI 2.1 maxes out at 4K 120 Hz And 8K 60 hz. So the 6K Pro Display XDR would not be capable of running off HDMI 2.1 at 120Hz. Not even the 5K studio display could.

The Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen 2022) did indeed ship with HDMI 2.1...as did the Apple TV4K (2nd Gen 2021). I think it's a good bet that the updated MBPs will have HDMI 2.1.
Not unless they also have Thunderbolt 5. Full HDMI 2.1 support requires more bandwidth than ThunderBolt can currently support unless they use Display Stream Compression. I don't even know if the Apple TVs are actually HDMI 2.1 or just following the new naming convention that all HDMI 2.0 ports are now 2.1 ports and the 2.1 feature set is optional.

I agree with the others on your list, but the M1 MBP does have a 1080p camera already. That's just how it looks. It's not great.
It really is horrendous for 1080p, isn't is. So much so I use a 2018 iPad Pro instead for video calls thinking my 2021 MBP was 720p.

Probably why they're really pushing using your iPhone as a camera instead. They know the webcams aren't going to get any better (though the one in the 24" iMac is the best built-in webcam I've ever seen, personally).

Having dropped a lung on my mac studio, I'm no urge for a shopping spree, however I'm curious to see these updated chips.

Meanwhile, to this day, the intel mac mini lives on.
I'd really like apple to redesign the mac mini; something a little more creative.

I really hope there's an M2 iMac refresh too.
I already replied to this lol sorry ( https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ian-regulatory-database.2377102/post-31880005 )

Why does Thunderbolt matter on an HDMI port? Does the HDMI Port's on blue-ray players and game consoles use Thunderbolt 5? And is Thunderbolt 5 even out yet? I think that is still being developed, right? Which in this case, it sounds like no computer on earth can have HDMI 2.1?

I think there is some confusion here ....

Because Apple Silicon only outputs video over the ThunderBolt bus. The HDMI signal on the HDMI port is converted from USB-C video which runs on TB. To support HDMI 2.1 Apple would have to build native HDMI support into their silicon or wait for a faster ThunderBolt spec. I'm betting they wait on TB5 as HDMI is a fluid standard that would give them headaches to hardwire into their chipset and TB gives them flexibility to emulate a moving target in software and firmware. And, honestly, it's just a cleaner implementation.

I did not know this. But this is interesting info!

1. Agreed. The SD card slot needs to have faster speeds then what it is currently. It's great to have but can be slow.
2. I can see it happening, but I don't think for this model.
3. I can see the notch getting replaced with the Dynamic Island or Dynamic touch
4. If Apple launches a MacBook Pro with a SIM card slot or eSIM, I will sell every tech product I have!!
5. Yes please. HDMI 2.1 is a must. Maybe display port??
6. Replace optimized Battey for smart battery to stop at 80%

Can’t wait for posts complaining it isn’t 3nm and they decided upgrading from their m1 Max to m2 Max plans were canceled…

Other than the RAM getting bumped to 96GB, I don't see much to do with the M2 Max vs M1 Max.

The 10-Core CPU is still vastly powerful for single and multi-threaded tasks.
Going from 32-Core to 36-Core GPU is also vastly powerful given that RAM is shared. With 96GB RAM + whatever the GPU Itself has is a monster.

if only a chip update as it probably will be then if have any M-series now then will be a no big deal. You probably won't any difference unless doing big video renders. If you're still one an old 5-6 year old Mac then it will be something worth upgrading to.

Once you have an M-series you're at a point of diminishing returns for the typical Mac user. If you're doing real production type work then the small performance boosts will shorten some processing times. Doesn't matter how fast a chip is if you can't tell doing your typical work.
