Can anyone confirm if Bluetooth ans Skype are working properly on beta 6?
Cydia lists shsh blobs for 4.2.1 and 4.2b3 for me, even though I have never installed those on my iPhone. I thought you had to have those firmwares installed in order for Cydia to save them? I'm interested in upgrading to 4.2.1 untethered, but want to make sure that I can using the blobs that Cydia supposedly has for me. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
I did restore to a clean 4.1, then updated to 4.2.1, then jailbroke with redsn0w 0.9.7b6. When I tried updating directly to 4.2.1 and jailbreaking, my phone never fully finished the jailbreak process (got stuck on "installing bundles"). The software update itself went fine, but the redsn0w portion was what had trouble.
even i tried last night, had a iphone 4 with 4.2.1 and 1.59 with tethered jailbreak, last night tried to do un-tethered jailbreak, installing bundles took about 10 - 15 mins, but then after that was stuck on apple logo, didnt know what to do even after 15 mins, so just restored clean to 4.1 and then upgraded to 4.2.1, now running stock 4.2.1
was wondering if i did a clean jailbreak with redsnow b6, how long did it take for you to get past the 'installing bundles' and how long for the reboot..
and most importantly how is the general IOS feel, cause without jailbreak - everything runs sooooooooo smooth, i dont feel like jailbreaking, things like ibooks opens smoothly, shuts down smoothly, all app launch and close smoothly, no jitters or stutters... kinda like that and i dont have that much use for jailbreak except to play a couple of games..

Stop pirating games and then you won't have to jailbreak anymore.
what a ******** comment, theres more to Jailbreaking then dodgy games!
I wasn't making a blanket statement.
I was pointing out to "iloveiphone4" that if he/she spent all of probably $25 on these games they wouldn't have to pirate them anymore and screw around jailbreaking for only that reason.
Context is key.
Fair play, i didn't see the last bit 'i dont have that much use for jailbreak except to play a couple of games.. ' at the end.
Fully agree with you now, apologies to you sir.
It's this type of civility that makes me think humanity is not completely screwed.
Once redsn0w says "the rest of this process takes place on your device," my phone continued to display "Installing Bundles" for about half a second and rebooted. If you're waiting fifteen minutes before it reboots then it's probably some sort of watchdog program on the iPhone detecting that nothing's happening.
I've got a book in my iBooks that won't display right. That's the only issue I've had. Everything else (e.g., Bluetooth and Skype) works and runs as quickly as I'd expect it to.

I agree.
It might be a UK thing![]()
You didn't have to restore the phone. All that was needed was to rerun redsn0w in just boot tethered mode and hard reboot your iPhone. Follow the instructions to get it into DFU mode (all you really need to do is hold the home button down when it's rebooting) and it'll boot back in with no data loss.even i tried last night, had a iphone 4 with 4.2.1 and 1.59 with tethered jailbreak, last night tried to do un-tethered jailbreak, installing bundles took about 10 - 15 mins, but then after that was stuck on apple logo, didnt know what to do even after 15 mins, so just restored clean to 4.1 and then upgraded to 4.2.1, now running stock 4.2.1

Oh that stinks. Sorry to hear that.thanks quarterswede, i did try that, but the tethered jailbreak just got stuck on the pineapple logo for about 10 mins after which i lost patience and restored. anyways this weekend i will give another shot at un-tethered jailbreak...
Can't get untethered JB to work repeatedly got stuck at using limera1n exploit. iTunes keeps on showing 2 iPads in recovery now ... Any ideas why ?
Reboot your computer to get ride of the phantom DFU iPad. You might also need to restore to a fresh iOS 4.2.1.
