Please let this be true. Bought mine in November... spring/summer is coming which means short sleeve shirts. I don't want to be seen with a truck strapped to my wrist.

You are not thinking different. They could just remove the battery and make the thinnest watch ever. Also it could have a single hand, only for hours, to be more elegant. This is thinking different.

I think if they came out with a watch like that Movado would sue them.

I don't get it. I own one and have owned one since September. I think the Apple Watch is one of the thinnest of my watches. Especially compared with my Tag Heuer and Seiko divers - The only watches thinner that I have are the ultra simplistic vintage dress watches (old ones - 1960's)

Don't make it any thinner at all. Make the battery better and some kind of always on screen (and WAY faster please)

So he knows nothing, just making guesses based on "supply chain rumors". What supplier that is currently a customer of Apple's would leak product roadmap information to a sell side analyst? I call BS. Plus since the watch is currently an iPhone accessory it makes a lot more sense to announce it in the fall with new iPhones not at WWDC. The only hardware I expect at WWDC is possibly new Macs, which make the most sense to announce there since most developers develop on the Mac.

As a Gen 1 apple watch owner, I do not think there is anything that will make me upgrade. I use the watch solely for notifications.

edit: Massive battery life improvements is the only thing.

I still don't understand the FaceTime camera. I mean who wants to hold you wrist up for a several minute long convo and look at someone. I don't even like using the phone feature for long conversation becuase it's an uncomfortable position.

Maybe it'll be used for something much more short form than what you're thinking of. Could be good for selfies or vines.

I could also see it being used for security purposes. I don't own the current Apple Watch so correct me if I'm wrong, but right now, isn't the security done by having you put on the Apple Watch, then pair with an iPhone?

A way of not needing the iPhone anymore would be to say that you need to instead put it on, then look at the Apple Watch camera, it scans your face, and from that it knows you're you.

I could actually see face scanning for security working really well on the Apple Watch since you have to wear it on your wrist and rotate it to a certain orientation. Might make it difficult to just have a picture of your face to fool it with.

With the little iPhone SE I can carry everywhere, I don't need the Watch to have standalone capabilities, i.e. camera, wifi/cell, etc. YMMV, especially if you want to leave a Plus behind when jogging. And I can take or leave thinner--it would be nice if it were maybe 20% thinner, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice battery charge life or additional capabilities for that. What I'd like to see is Apple resolve the problem with blood pressure readings, and better yet, come up with a watch or band that measures blood sugar for diabetics.

Breaking news. Original Apple watch resale value drops in half tomorrow.

for me it would be a higher water resistance rating.. so I can wear it playing in the pool, at the beach, etc. without worrying about frying the internals. I would be ok with thinner if it didn't sacrifice the current battery life or band compatibility. The battery life isn't an issue for me. I typically have ~50% remaining at the end of the day and don't wear it to sleep in, so it goes on the charger every night regardless of battery %.

I get through a day no problem, but it is annoying have to bring a charger with me if I stay out just one night (phone last 2-3 days). I actually have been using mine in the pool, beach, shower, etc without issue from launch.

The camera could be used for other things such as selfies, or could be used by apps such as Tribe for quick video messages.

I personally don't think Apple should release an updated watch every year. Since it's a wearable accessory, I'd say at least every 3 years, but that's just me.

Also, if they do a yearly update, they should also have an upgrade program where you would hand in your old watch for a big discount on the latest.

As someone who is skinny and has a small sized wrist, I would love to see a slimmer Apple Watch. The current version looks a little awkward on me, as do many traditional watches. I have the Garmin Vivoactive which is a good size.
