I, like many others, have been waiting on this machine—specifically with a new keyboard. I almost upgraded to the 16" when it came out but every time I have picked up a 15" or larger laptop I have gone back to the 13" model within a year. I decided to just skip that step this time around.

A powerful, portable 13/14” MacBook Pro would be a dream machine of mine IF there is a discreet graphics card powerful enough for me to do 4k editing.

I currently have a ...
Naturally I've been eyeing the new ...
I'm wondering if I should just wait to see what Apple does ...
Because if I can get a ... then this might be a better choice.
Waiting to see if a rumoured future <insert device here> is going to be better than the currently available <and here> is a mug's game. Just get the best <here, too> that you can justify and afford, use it and be happy.

Intel 10nm sucks. It really doesnt perform much better than 14nm.

It's been 4~5 years since the 4th gen MBP came out. If they just update it without design changes like 16 inch, we might need to wait till Oct.

Awesome. This will be a most welcome update for those of us with 2016 MBPs. My keyboard warranty ends in November and I fully intend to get a new machine by then. Another 13/14” MBP is my ideal — I won’t get another butterfly keyboard so if this machine isn’t released I’m going to have to hunt for alternatives.

Ugh. No.
We could have up to 8C/16T and a better iGPU with AMD Zen 2/Vega based Reinor.... or we can have rewarmed Skylake 4C/8T on 10nm with a better, but still slower than AMD iGPU...
The choice seems really obvious barring any nasty surprises for Reinor (certainly possible as it hasn't been released yet) but all the information in the public domain so far points to it being another solid win for AMD.

All I can say is, barring some massive change or improvements (beyond the expected new keyboard/smaller bezels), if it turns out Apple stuck with Intel in spite of Ice Lake being inferior to Reinor, I'll be sitting this generation out (and pretty damn disappointed) as its not that big of an upgrade over my 2018 model :/

8 cores in a 13” laptop?! Nah

A 14” screen size and 320gb base model is no brainer and Apple evil plan might offer even less than or the same as 2019 base model.

Butterfly mechanism is indeed a failure and it took too long from Apple to admit the mistake.

13” + scissors mech = my new machine. Touch Bar’s fine, don’t care either way. Mag safe would make it perfect.
It is not hard to offer MAGSAFE that work with USB-C charger but Apple hardware department is operated by people who less likely to fond of nice things.

I mean you don't have to take my word for it.

I'm not saying Apple would necessarily use the higher performing (35W+) parts in the 13" MBP, but given there are 8C/16T 15W(!) options with a cTDP up to 25W, they could easily choose to maximize battery life and performance at the same time. And that's assuming they didn't ask AMD to make something (semi) exclusively for them (which ASUS has already done).

Apple is rumored to be working on a refreshed version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro following the launch of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro in October, and the new 13-inch machines could adopt Intel's 10th-generation Ice Lake chips.

Over the weekend, a Twitter leaker shared a 3D Mark Time Spy benchmark of a machine said to be an upcoming 13-inch MacBook Pro equipped with Intel's 10th-generation i7-1068NG7 Ice Lake 2.3GHz chip with 4.1GHz turbo boost capabilities (via Wccftech).

The benchmarks compare the new 10th-generation chip to the 8th-generation 2.4GHz Core i5 chip in the high-end 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2019 and suggest the new 13-inch machine Pro will be approximately 12 percent faster than the current 13-inch MacBook Pro when it comes to CPU speeds, and close to 30 percent faster when it comes to GPU performance.

If Apple does release a 13-inch MacBook Pro with the aforementioned Ice Lake chip, it will be the first Apple notebook equipped with a 10th-generation chip. Though not included in the leak, a 16-inch MacBook Pro refresh in 2020 could also feature 10th-generation chips, though 16-inch machines are expected to use Comet Lake chips built on the 14++nm architecture as there are no 10-nanometer Ice Lake chips appropriate for them.

Rumors suggest Apple will release an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro in the first half of 2020, perhaps at its March event, though WWDC is also a possibility. Along with 10th-generation Intel chips, the new machines are expected to feature the improved scissor keyboard that was first introduced in the 16-inch MacBook Pro, along with the option to upgrade to 32GB RAM.

This comparison makes no sense...they are comparing a base 2019 i5 to an 2020 i7...of course it is faster!

The current, 13 inch 2019 i7 option maxes out at 4.7Ghz...is there going to be an equivalent 2020 CPU to match it?

It will be Intel 10th gen CPU's, Intel i7-1068NG7 and i5-1030NG4 options, which is great.

I’m in search of a new portable device , I wanted to get the Air model but it’s too outdated and expensive. Then I saw SurfaceBook 7 Pro ... I mean WoW ! A perfect touch screen and much more powerful than the current Air and Pro 13 models.

The Never working Windows Trolls are not welcome here....

I have been using my MacBook Pro 2016 keyboard for 3 months now, and love it. Have not had any problems with it and it has been working great.

I love the butterfly... I have the 2018 version, that is much more reliable than the 2016... but it seems that after all that complains they have in the 2016/17 models, the choose to cut the problem from the root.

So much for the Arm based MacBook Pro.

I just wish they would make the 13" with a dGPU option at the top end. I do like to play games on my MacBooks sometimes and my 2013 MacBook Pro 15" with the nVidia GT650 is getting a bit old now and i dont really need the 16" in terms of size plus it gets very pricey when you start customising , 13" (or 14") Pro would be great.

Seems kinda pointless posting this on a rumors site.
