Forget the iPhone 5 - it would really make my year if we finally got to see a proper iWatch like that. If it paired with the iPhone 5 I'd probably upgrade just to get the watch.

I use my Nano as a watch right now, got a nice little wristwatch case that it fits into perfectly. I have like 5 different colors, too. I do wish they would bluetooth pair and send push notifications though

Given years of declining iPod sales, I don't see them introducing a new line. If anything, I'd expect them to cut one (classic) or even two (shuffle) of the existing lines, leaving the nano as the portable/workout iPod and the touch as the high capacity/iOS iPod.

Hopefully iTunes 11 will also be released.

If they do I hope it's a complete overhaul. iTunes is so slow, unresponsive and clunky now it's beyond a joke and there are so many minor irritations that drive me nuts - especially to do with the searching. I also think the UI could do with a complete facelift. It just looks so dull now. Oh and please god can we have the choice of lossless music at long last - pretty pretty please. Come on Apple if you can sell SD and HD films and TV shows you can sell lossless music.

Add bluetooth, a speaker and microphone to the nano, take away the clip and slip it into a watchband, and you have a winner...

I don't even care as much about the mic or speaker, but I think adding wifi for iTunes in the cloud and bluetooth to connect the iWatch to my iPhone would be amazing. Add a small tweeter speaker for alarms and simple notification sounds and I'd be set. I love my iPod nano as a watch, but a dedicated and connected iWatch would be absolutely incredible.

On a software side, add the ability for the iWatch to disable the iPhone screen from coming on when you receive notifications and you could potentially save some battery life in your phone while it's in your pocket.

A week ahead of the event... I don't particularly care about rumors at this point. I can happily wait and see what they actually end up offering.

Right now, most of these "rumors" are basically nothing more than click whoring - trying to take advantage of people's rising interest as the event approaches.

The Shuffle is a piece of garbage. They need to integrate the Shuffle and the Nano or something, because the shuffle blows. I hate that I can't charge it with anything other than its stupid charger through the earphones plug. Once my charger broke I literally haven't been able to use it anymore. Now it's a great potato chip clip.

Ebay has new cables for under $3 shipped.

Nano needs GPS, would be great for runners

GPS would be a nice to have... But the current nano's accelero-pedometer with Nike+ integration is already a great.

For me, adding bluetooth is more important than GPS because I hate having the headphone wire going down my back to my shorts. I would rather use my super tiny bluetooth headphones that are light as a feather and only have the one thin cable going from ear to ear...like I can do with my iPhone (except iPhone is too big+heavy for running).

New iPod line? Hmm. What if they brought back the Mini?

$49 iPod Shuffle
$99 iPod Nano
$149/199 iPod Mini
$199/299/399 Touch

The iPod Mini would be like the old longer nano, except with a touchscreen instead of a clickwheel (like the render 9to5mac posted). Runs full iOS.

A 360 GB iPod Classic for old times sake? I'd buy one. For those of us with massive music collections that we want to take on the road!!! :D A Farewell Edition?

I might be old fashioned but I would love an update for the iPod classic at maybe 240 or 360 gigs capacity.
That's a great place to store your whole collection and take it everywhere.

I've avoided doing that given all the cables, etc.

How good would it be to have a proper smartwatch though. Tap the watch - Siri remind me to buy a birthday card at lunch - then at 12 the watch vibrates so I lift it up and Siri comes on "remember to get a birthday card". No need to even get my iPhone out of my pocket. Pair your appointments so the iWatch reminds you. It vibrates to let you know there is a call coming in so you can see whether or not to get your iPhone out and answer it. Honestly I'm not that bothered about the music player part but it would be nice to have bluetooth and wireless headphones.

I don't wear a watch these days coz all it does is tell the time and my phone does that. I think most people only buy them as fashion accessories now or manly men making a manly man statement about how rugged they are or how they can afford an expensive watch so they must have a big knob.

PS On your way to an appointment ask Siri on your iWatch "are we nearly there yet" LOL. Siri: "Estimated time of arrival is 10 minutes which is plenty of time for your appointment in 30 minutes time". Oh heaven be they name.

Don't see anything in that story indicating any meaningful new capabilities.

What's the point of this?

That's what I'm waiting for. And I'll quickly cancel my Pebble order if it comes!

I think it would be quite cool- and I would seriously consider buying one- but I'd certainly keep the pre-order I have for 2 Pebbles. The e-ink screen and waterproof nature of the Pebble makes it well worth the cost for me.

great concept indeed but charging your watch every other day?

What we need is an iMat and inductive charging cells in all iOS devices. Just put your device on the mat and it starts charging. No cables, no mess. Brilliant.

I'd buy a nano/iWatch in a heartbeat. I've been waiting for a true smartwatch that can pair with my phone.

I hope they don't let the classic go. Either way I have to buy a new one, even if they don't update it. My current classic is 8 years old. It was my first Apple product and it still works despite the ruthless beating it has taken over the years. I have to buy another one just to have for when my current one finally dies. I usually just keep it in the glovebox hooked up to my car stereo. I think there is still a market for a high capacity Mp3 player, isn't there?

Good points. Apple would never release anything that didn't have a color screen, so the battery life would be 1-2 days at most. And I'd like for the screen to remain on (like the Pebble). Maybe not cancel... decision, decisions.
