So ... here's my guess. The new iPad mini is going to bring about the demise of the iPod Touch.

No chance until cellular providers in North America get a whole lot better. $80+ a month for a woefully inadequate data plan and poor reception outside of major cities here in Canada makes an iPhone pretty unappealling for a lot of people. The hardware is incredible, but Apple can't make Telus/Rogers/Bell less awful.

The developers of the Pebble watch and MetaWatch will be pissed to say the least if the iWatch line is introduced. I almost became a backer of the Pebble watch on Kickstarter, but didn't because I wanted to wait to see if Apple had something similar coming out this year.

I hope it happens, they need a kick in the ###.

The Shuffle is a piece of garbage. They need to integrate the Shuffle and the Nano or something, because the shuffle blows. I hate that I can't charge it with anything other than its stupid charger through the earphones plug. Once my charger broke I literally haven't been able to use it anymore. Now it's a great potato chip clip.

Have 4 shuffles right from the 1st. Love 'em all. no problems.

The charger broke? Do you mean the cable? Cheap on eBay or third party options.

iPod nano is a pain in the ass to use it with touch and sweat... physical buttons should return. I use it for running not like a fashion watch
If you have headphones with the remote controls, you can skid forward and back through your library or playlist. Double click to skip forward and triple click to skip back.

Double click/hold for FF and triple click/hold for REW.

Sure, you'd still have to use the touch screen to change your playlists or over to the radio, but if you're using the Nike+ app, you aren't able to do that anyways.

Awesome. Very excited for my new phoneless iPhone. If Canadian cellular providers weren't so terrible I'd love to own an iPhone someday, but we have some of the worst cellular service and prices in the world here. Going wifi only with a shiny new iPod Touch is a small price to pay to avoid doing business with them.

It's not the service in Canada.

Every iPhone is a phoneless phone.

I might be old fashioned but I would love an update for the iPod classic at maybe 240 or 360 gigs capacity.
That's a great place to store your whole collection and take it everywhere.

I really wish they would go to at least a 128gb iPod touch. My last 160gb iPod classic bit the dust a couple of years ago and would really love to go to a Touch but what with different apps and stuff that would be on the Touch 64gb not enough. I have to kill a lot of my music on a 64gb iPhone 4S as is since all of my music is AIFF (No AAC here.) Come on Apple, 128gb iPod Touch, please!!!!!!!!!!

Is it possible to cancel? I've been debating doing so. This whole delay w/o any udpate is starting to wear on my patience.

Depends if you signed up on Kickstarter or after, I think. I ordered one after, so I still can (I haven't paid yet).

240/320gb (to be honest 320GB wouldn't even be enough for me at this point, I have a 5th gen retro swapped with a 320GB and its maxed out with just videos I've bought from iTunes) iPod Classic with a 4" screen, wifi iTunes support...

hey I can dream can't I?

128GB touch is WAAAAYYY over due, there is absolutely NO REASON why Apple can't sell a 128GB model at the same price point as the 64GB model..unless you actually believe flash prices haven't came down in the last 3 years..in which cause you're just delusional.

isnt the shuffle kinda doa with the current size of the nano anyway?

Not with the current nano price. $50 vs. $150.

For some (raises hand) the Shuffle amounts to "first dose is free", getting someone into the iTunes ecosystem cheap and snowballs from there. If not for the Shuffle I might not have 4 iPods, an iPad, a MacBook, and screaming for iMac 2012.

Gps

I would love to see the nano keeping the same form factor with GPS chip. This will compete with GPS watches in the market like Garmin. The iPhone 4 is just too big for me to bring for running, especially that the iPhone 5 coming with a larger screen is not ideal for carry for running. I just want to bring my music and GPS mapping to track my run. :D

Ugh. We want new iMacs not iPods wtf

I agree... I want a new iMac, but next week's show is about the iPhone and iPods, not iMacs. Releasing a new iMac during that presentaion would be totally crazy because it would dilute everything.

----------

When has Apple ever updated anything else including the iPod lineup at the same time they updated the iPhone? Seems a bit strange and unlikely.

With iPod sales heading South for the past few years, it looks like Apple wants iPod users to switch over to iPhones if they haven't already done so.

I got in on the Kickstarter. Slightly annoyed I don't have an updated release date. I mean, will it be this year???

I think they should upgrade the iPod Classic with a 360/500GB hdd and the ability to use it as a wireless hdd to stream movies/music to ios devices!

Ipod nano

Ipod nano watch phone -PLEASE SOON! Have it unfold to become the size of the current iphone. Swivels. Removable earpiece. PLEASE

I think they're still thinking Fall for Kickstarter purchases, early 2013 for others. It might be possible for you to opt out if someone is willing to take it. Not sure.

It was a joke, read my post again.

Its a watch, its about time.

Never funny when you have to explain it to the kids.
