Belgian Apple store also 1 working day to deliver 5k mac, whereas it was in stock earlier this morning.
Has to be something going on .

Hoping for skylake.. if not I might still get it. I will however wait and buy from BHphoto to avoid paying taxes..

I'm excited if it's Skylake but they might just be updating the accessories (assuming tomorrow does bring the keyboard / mouse / trackpad)

With updates that aren't a press release event, do they typically go live in the mornings. Or they close the store down and refresh at random point in the day?

Doesn't skylake come with improved intel Iris that would handle 4K better? This could go in the base 4k 21". I doubt broadwell would cut it for 4K.
Sure, integrated GPUs would not be good news per se, but if it means skylake, there would be some upside to it.
I suppose Apple won't miss the opportunity to increase its margin by avoiding the use of a discrete GPU if it can.

I'm seeing 16 day delivery using standard and 10-12 days using 2-3 delivery on a 27" riMac BTO.

It would be nice if both sizes get released tomorrow (and if the 27" gets target mode back; that may sway me toward the larger size (along with updating ram later.)

If the 27" iMac with retina are refreshed at all tomorrow, I will pull the trigger. I am upgrading from a 2010 15" MacBook Pro. I will be buying the high spec one with discrete AMD/Nvidia GPU minimum 4gb ram and whatever i7 i can get, Broadwell or Skylake. 1TB Fusion or if they offer a 512GB SSD at no extra cost, I would do that. I will get the base Ram and upgrade it myself to 32gb. Im sure that would future proof me for another 4 or 5 years :)

Exact same here.... Replacing 2010 15" MBP with top of the line 5k when they refresh. I'm definitely opting for the 512 SSD over fusion, though

I'd be very disappointed if it's not skylake, but I'm weak, I think I'll be joining you and buying regardless also! :) It's just annoying because I know I'll be buying a Thunderbolt storage box within 6 months so it'd be sort of silly to buy a machine with TB2 with TB3 right around the corner. Those TB boxes aren't cheap when you start adding in the drives too.

Yup me too, 512 is def the sweet spot. Unless they lower the cost of the 1TB SSD upgrade, but something tells me that's very unlikely

New to the site but, like you, I'm looking into going from my 2010 15" MBP to an iMac. I've never owned a Mac desktop before, so I'm a little unsure about what specs I should be aiming for. I'm not especially familiar with fusion drives, though I understand the principle behind them, so what would be your prime motivation in choosing the 512GB SSD over the 1TB fusion? Just looking to gain a little more insight into the topic before making any significant ($) decisions. :)

Cheers.

HP just announced their new AIO with skylake. Windows also announced with skylake. Why can't Apple? 'Cause they need much larger volume of the chips..?

I will get the i7, 256 GB SSD I know 512 wont be the default one.. and base Graphics card probably the 390X

Will buy an external 4 or 5TB USB 3.0 HD for all my content.. mostly photos

Im going i7, 256GB SSD, And the standard graphics card. I game on an xbox and I'm a web designer, so I really don't feel the need for the upped GPU.

I probably won't have the money until the end of the month due to college expenses, but I plan on going sticking with i5, and definitely going for the 256GB SSD option over fusion. Specs seem to indicated that the M390X is just a rebadged M295X, so that would be a plus since I wouldn't have to pay for the upgraded GPU. The only thing that concerns is the fact that in El Cap the code hinted at these mysterious "M390" and "M395" in addition to standard M395X. Who knows where either of these fall in between the currently released PC M300 Series. Gotta love Apple and their proprietary GPUs with the naming scheme to match.
