I have a 1TB Apple SSD kit for the 2019 Mac Pro 7,1. If anyone's still interested, I can post it in the For Sale forum on MacRumors. It's surplus to me since I replaced it with a larger set some time ago.

Tom

EDIT: The SSDs have been posted here in the For Sale Forum.

Has there been any feedback from Apple on this disgraceful issue?

I need to reboot my machine numerous time to mount a couple drive that were working fine.

With a fair bit of messing around actually. Macs can be a pain in the butt sometimes. I had to go through the trial and error of corrupted boot discs and a few reinstalls while learning which SSDs and what cards work.

One slot houses a Sonnet Silent M.2 4x4 at the moment, so far with no issues. Booting is from a Corsair 2TB M600 Pro NH.
A second slot is taken up by a 2TB Sabrent SB-RKT4P on a StarTech.com Dual M.2 PCIe SSD Adapter Card as apparently the Sonnet won't boot Windows.
Aside from that I have 2 GPUs. The 580X and a 1070 that I'm looking to upgrade but Oh man, THE PRICES!!!!

Obviously all drives are mounted when the MAC boots but I immediately unmount any drive that I won't be using and remount/unmount as necessary.
And the problem with this route presently is Sonoma & which is a real PITA with mounting external drives (many threads about that elsewhere). However, I see this mac is a 5.1 & so Sonoma won't be 'a thing' ... but on the 7.1 it drives me nuts.

I am more confident that people here will fix this with a hack than I am that Apple will do it with an official fix.

True, but if your apple SSD fails one day you will need another apple pair or your mac pro is a doorstop. Mine is at 98% as it was since i got it SH and i'm not too concerned at the moment
How can you see the remaining life of the OEM SSD?, thanks!

Thanks for that, just downloaded it.
Hello everyone...
I have a question. Even after researching I still have my doubts.
Is the 4TB kit SSD sold on Amazon compatible with our machines? I currently have 256 GB and Sonnet quad NVMe drives. If you think this product is compatible, would it be a good opportunity to buy it?

Best regards...

Amazon

I looked at it. The model number is correct : MXNQ2ZM/A
And the text printed on the back side looks correct.
The package size is also correct.

I can not believe how low the price is for that kit. $340 ?
I would by more than one kit for that price, if I had the chance

The kits for the Mac Pro 2019 are very hard to find brand new.
I can get the 8TB kit here in Sweden for $3200 on Amazon

edit: the 4TB kit for the Mac Pro 2023 model number is : MR3A3ZM/A

Oh, my God, 3600 dollars?
With that money, I would come to Turkey on vacation (1 week), take the 4tb kits and come back. Would you have any thoughts like that?

Obviously I don't want to invest more in the machine, but the price seems really good. We even have a 30-day return policy.

What should I do? Shall we go on an adventure? Life is already short. What guarantee is there that we'll make it to tomorrow?

If I am looking at the right one on the Turkish site, the model number on the back is shown as "A2445" - that's not a Mac Pro 2019, we'd be looking for A1991.

A2445 seems to be a MacBook Pro 16". Something doesn't seem right.

I say wait, don't buy anything yet. I could be wrong but that looks like it might not be compatible.

According to iFixIt, the 2019 MacBook Pro 16" has soldered storage, and the T2 chip.
Soldered storage modules does not have the slot connector.
The kit modules pictured, clearly has the pins to connect in a slot.

This screenshot from their video show the two modules. And they look very different. Don´t they?

What is the return policy for Amazon? Would they not accept a return if the purchased item turns out to be other than advertised?

And it is an Apple store on Amazon.

I purchased my 4TB kit from the Apple Store on Amazon in Sweden.
Looks legit to me

Yes, I made the mistake of browsing Amazon at three in the morning when I couldn't sleep. I made the purchase in a sleepy haze, thinking I could just return it if it didn't work out. However, once the sleepiness wore off and reality set in, I started doing some research. There was no clear source of information out there. I even went as far as consulting an AI, which was initially baffled but then pulled itself together. It commented that this product might be different, but there's no harm in trying if I have the option to return it. But this whole T2 chip situation on the Mac Pro seems to be a real pain, with the DFU mode and all that... I really can't be bothered with it anymore. In short, even though the little devil on my left shoulder keeps nudging me, I'm listening to the angel on my right for now.

Amazon accepts returns for all products within 30 days. Unfortunately, people in our region often abuse this. For example, a product someone else has misused and returned might be sold to you. This means you're returning a returned product. In short, even if you buy the SSD, you can still return it (as long as you don't break it, LOL).

If you already purchased it and it will be sent to you. I will be happy to purchase it from you for a reasonable fee.
Send me a PM (private message) and we´ll come to an agreement, I think

I purchased it and then initiated a return before shipping even started. More than the price of the product, it was because of my endless spending on Apple... I wish the locations were closer... I would have been happy to help then.

Correct.

But I was looking at the third image in the Amazon listing. That has the strange text on the back.

It mentioned Mac Pro but also A2445, that made me wonder.

But this whole T2 chip situation on the Mac Pro seems to be a real pain

Absolutely agree. It’s an enormous irritation - along with Apple’s love of non standard bespoke storage solutions that become super rare the moment the machine ceases to be sold.

On the older Mac Pro models you’d just use NVME storage and all was good. Easily available from multiple different brands. Also much cheaper than Apple.

In this case, there's no need for adventure beyond dealing with DFUs and other things. I already have a SONNET 4-port raid PCI card. Naturally, I won't be doing much writing to the 256GB SSD. And for some reason, that T2 chip thing is freaking me out (I've heard of people steaming their machines while replacing SSDs). No matter how much precautions are taken, the 2TB SSD kit has also just dropped on Amazon. I'll leave the link below...
Amazon TR 2 TB SSD Link

Additional regulation :
In Mac pro 7.1 after ssd update in Dfu mode the firmware process went wrong. In this case, can we put the old ssd (the one with the system installed) back in as it was and continue as if nothing happened? I read somewhere that if we want to put the old ssd back in as a result of the new ssd Dfu operations, it is also a series of events from the beginning (I don't know if it is irony or something else).

So in short, we should be able to put the old ssd back in as it was and continue to use it, right? Because in my opinion, the T2 firmware is already written.

Love to everyone...

Herkese merhaba...

What's going on here? Even English text translated to Turkish now?

Very interesting. I usually check with Deep L to see the spelling etc. I don't know if it's because of the phone's browser (Android / chrome)... I'm so sorry...

Also, as I said above, when we remove the SSD that is already working on the Mac Pro, when we reinstall it in the future, DFu etc. is not done silly all over again, right?

For example, let's say for example we buy a 2TB ssd kit, then when the installation goes wrong, the T2 event of the old SSD doesn't reboot, right?

Yours sincerely.
