First thing that came to mind ....

An increasing number of customers who ordered the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus have noticed irregular movement on their shipments, as confirmed by multiple tipsters who have contacted us. The peculiar UPS tracking information has also been documented by several Twitter and Reddit users.

MacRumors reader Daniel G., for example, has seemingly seen his iPhone 7 Plus order move between Shanghai, China and Anchorage, Alaska, only to end up back in China. The shipment even made a brief stop in Osaka, Japan, before heading to Louisville, Kentucky en route to Long Island City in Queens.Other MacRumors readers said likewise in discussion topics titled "My iPhone is on a travel adventure" and "Waiting for UPS."

Reddit user AlphaAnger, too, shared a nearly identical scenario:Twitter user Minton, who shared the UPS tracking information pictured above, has seen his iPhone order travel from Zhengzhou, China to Incheon, South Korea to Louisville, Kentucky, at which point it was seemingly sent back to Hong Kong. The entire movement took place within a span of just three days.
Minton is not alone, as several Twitter users have noticed similarly irregular movement on their iPhone orders this week.
In some cases, shipments have moved between the U.S. and Asia in only a few hours, which is unrealistic even when accounting for time zone differences. UPS has allegedly told some customers the irregular movement is related to paperwork, but weather and mechanical issues could also be involved.

Whatever the underlying reason may be, the issue appears to be slowing down iPhone deliveries for at least some customers in the United States. Some customers on Twitter have complained that their new iPhone is "stuck in Korea," while others have vented their frustrations towards UPS's customer service account.

Same thing happened to me, but my phone got delivered before the initial time so I'm not complaining.

Tracking bounced from Alaska back to Korea, Initially was suppose to be 26-31st. UPS my choice sent me an email saying it was going to be delivered on the 20th, than got another email saying the 21st. It did get delivered on the 21st but my tracking didn't update until that afternoon.

So could just be a glitch on the tracking system.

Same thing happened here. My phone was scheduled for delivery today before the weirdness started happening. Now I don't even have an estimated delivery time.

My Iphone 7 plus was scheduled to be delivered today. I checked the status when i got to work and found it was delayed till tomorrow. Just checking it 5 hours later. It's in Incheon, KR and at 12:28am - A mechanical failure has delayed delivery. We're adjusting plans to deliver your package as quickly as possible. Dam

My Jet Black iPhone 7+ delivered yesterday, but it skipped Korea and Alaska all together and teleported from China straight to Louisville. Meanwhile mine still says " Processing Items" and I preordered this iPhone at 3:04 am on preorder night......

Meanwhile mine still says "Processing Items" and I preordered this thing at 3:04 in the morning during preorder day..... By the way sorry I wrote on your post. I'm just frustrated lol!

Just so this thread includes some positives about shipping, my iPhone 7 went from Shanghai on Friday 9/16 to Tokyo to Anchorage to Louisville to Philly to my home on Monday, 9/19.

Seems like the arrival/departure times are simply listed out of order here. I mean, all this person had to do was look at the times. There's no departure listed from Louisville, KY.

And even if it did depart from Louisville, there's no way a shipment would arrive back in Hong Kong at 4:09PM on 9/21/16, which is the same day it left Incheon, South Korea for Louisville, KY, just three hours earlier at 1:30PM on 9/21/16.

That would be impossible. Even with crossing timezones and datelines, time doesn't work like that.

Mine was stuck in China, and is now stuck in Korea. Original delivery date was 9/22, then 9/23, now "unavailable"

I wonder if the Hanjin Shipping company having to file for bankruptcy has anything to do with it. They do ship quite a few different kinds of cargo and were having some troubles being able to dock since they couldn't pay the docking fees.

Sounds more like computer glitches not accounting for time zone changes and late scans. I HIGHLY doubt they're actually flying back and forth.

Guys, remember that UPS does not compensate for time zones, and the vast majority of Asia is 13 hours ahead, so you might get a Tokyo scan right now but it might show as september 23rd 1 am (on Asia).

UPS shows local time.

The same thing is happening to me but its actually a lot simpler reason that what most people think is happening. The reason why it looks like its jumping to the US but going back to Korea is because UPS is submitting the import documents. I was confused as well and a simple call to UPS gave me my answer.

I didn't see that kind of weirdness this time but I did have them fail to leave my wife's phone and my watch because "there was no one home and there was no release form and/or it wasn't signed" -- yet when I got home, they'd left the sticky note on top of the fully filled out pre-sign forms taped to our door. Then yesterday I got home and saw the UPS guy about to leave, and then he came back when he saw me pull into the driveway, and brought me my iPhone that he was about to drive off with despite the fact that there was another pre-sign form taped to the door AND my teenage daughter was sitting just inside the front door practicing piano (which you could hear from the walkway).

Between my wife, the kids, and I, we've had someone purchase every iteration of iPhone since the 3G and pre-ordered online since that was available and NEVER had an issue with the pre-sign form being honored before this year. Not the end of the world but really annoying when you think something is coming and you plan some time to set it up and then they screw up your plans.

UPS told me: I deeply apologize for the delay and the inconvenience this delay may cause. It seems that all Apple packages have encountered a delay in transit due to Apple operating plans and the delivery dates are being affected.

When I asked what "Apple operating plans" meant they said:

Due to special Apple operating plans, scheduled delivery dates fluctuate on U.S. imports. You would have to contact Apple to find out what those plans are.

So UPS is blaming Apple. I can't get through to Apple support to find out if they're blaming UPS or not.

Same deal. My 7 Plus jet black was in china, then scanned in Korea, then china again. The delivery date originally said today, then changed to tomorrow, then changed to "information unavailable."

Stuck in Korea since 8:01PM 9/21. Called UPS and they said it's because of Apple's shipping policy that it has been held. I called Apple and they told me the following:

Lorena:
I do see your iPhone 7 plus with delivery dates for Sept. 23. You must be super excited to receive your new iPhone 7 plus. Not to worry I have checked delivery dates on our end and they are certainly still Sept. 23 no delays have occur. This happens every year when we have pre-orders. UPS doesn’t keep up with the correct scans on their end and always list their status as China or Korea. But not to worry our items do deliver on time and this is a well known issue right now with the status on UPS site.

Dave:
so it could actually be in the US but their scans are off?

Lorena:
Yes its actually in the U.S. right now all of our iPhones for delivery dates for Sept. 23 are in the U.s. but UPS has been scanning the iPhones incorrectly. But there has been no delay on our iPhone 7 orders right now.

Lorena:
They have all been delivered just in time.

So I'm assuming when I wake up tomorrow status will be 'Out for Delivery'.

Yeah - I'm in that same boat! UPS is such a stinking carrier - I say Apple should go back to FedEx and give us the service we expect. I wouldn't trust UPS to ship anything - yet their rates keep going up. I'm thinking we should drop an email to Tim - His specialty was Logistics before taking on the reigns of Apple, Inc.

My tracking keeps bouncing back and fourth as well. My phone was supposed to be delivered yesterday but now it's stuck in Korea.

Mine got stuck in China and now Korea. It was supposed to be here yesterday and now who knows. I ordered a 7 plus in black on 9/9 at 3:10am EST. This sucks!!!
