Migration only works if both devices have the same OS version. If you get your new device make sure it is updated to the most current OS version, then update your old device to the most current OS as well. After that, migration should work smoothly.

That might be the optimal scenario but they don't absolutely have to be on the same OS version.

Migration works as long as the new phone has a newer iOS version than the old phone. That allows someone with, say, an iPhone Xr on iOS 18 to migrate to the new iPhones with iOS 26.

Ok - I get it. I'm off about March / April production. This whole thread is speculation at best.

At least half right in that the phones are state-side already.
It appears you are right about them being in the US also, dates are only thing in question

Get me to Friday! My work is one of the first stops by UPS so if all things go well I should have the phone in hand by 9:30 AM. I got smart this time and had it shipped there instead of anxiously pacing around all day at the house.
I did that last year. Had my phone by 10:00 AM. No burning PTO, no pacing around the house, but I did have to wait to really get into it until I got home.

My work and my home are the same place lol. So, it’ll likely be toward end of the day for me. I’m used to it, even though I’ll be anxiously awaiting it while I work on projects.

Last year, I remember receiving a UPS notification saying the iPhone would arrive a day early. I knew it was a 'glitch,' but I wonder if that's the case with what happened this year.

I send all tech deliveries to work address, but idk Apple only ships to the address TMo has on file. My residential UPS guy is great, but I'm at the end of the route. I had a delivery close to or after 8pm last week. I'll just make myself satisfied when it shows out for delivery.

I swear,
UPS doesn’t allow pick ups that their customer service center, because their customer service center is now the stores. And they’re not even owned by UPS just franchisees.
Now the phones are almost assuredly, already stateside, so not as much fun to track now. I’d rather enjoy the madness of seeing who’se phone is on a flight with my phone, then freaking out when it seems to stay in Alaska for a couple of days, when it’s really just clearing customs, but we don’t get to see it until the Thursday of the week.

Just seemed like a a lot of the air has been taken out of the sails this go around.

But they arent. They literally leave China this week. You can track them the whole way we have done this here for years.
You might want to read post 2111 in this thread.

Key quote from that article

Tim Cook has already revealed that nearly half the iPhones sold in the US are now made in India. And this year, for the first time, India-made iPhones are being shipped worldwide on day one, breaking away from the old pattern of trailing behind Chinese production.

And based on early folks receiving their tracking numbers, most of the phones appear to already be here.

There is a new iOS out this afternoon. Wait on this if migrating your current phone to a new one.

This may have been mentioned already, or somewhere..........just FYI.

.
Why the new phones will be on IOS 26. It will make you update to the same version of the new phone to finish setting it up

Ordered my silver 256 GB 17 PM at 8:02 AM, confirmation email at 8:03 AM. Still showing a 9/25 delivery here with my order still in processing. Hoping to wake up to an update!
Strange. I ordered same device and spec at 8.10am , card got declined by issuer, Apple allowed me to use alternative card or same card again and order was completed by around 8.45am for delivery on 9/19
