I ended up buying an orange 17 pro max from the apple store. My initial plan was to get a blue air, but slowly I wanted a blue pro max. Then I wanted silver... then somehow the store had orange and silver available and I just couldn't commit to silver so I ended up with an orange iphone lol.

It's funky. I like it!

Mine still processing no change to the status since Sep 19th ... even though order placed Sep 12 3-5 minutes in

What is up with the current state of the 17 Pro supply?

I am in the market for a blue or a gray 17 Pro, any size apart from 1Tb. I have been to several Apple stores over the past week, and I have gotten the run-around response at each of them. Either there is no stock "but we may get stock throughout the day, hard to tell" or "check online & purchase online" or "come in the mornings when we open, we may have some, be sure to check every morning" or "go to this other Apple Store, I am seeing some models in stock" - then when I go to said store, they tell me they never had any model in stock or, "they had several of that model & it all sold out"

Is this phone really in such high demand? Why then have I not seen anyone in public around me have one? How are people buying multiple phones only to keep one & return the rest?

The Apple website also doesn't make sense to me either. If I input zip codes for the major cities (eg NYC, Miami, LA) I cannot find any models available (white or blue 17 Pro). Is this true?

I have previously bought the iPhone 11 Pro and 14 pro on launch day respectively; just walked into the store and they had the exact model I wanted. I have never had this much difficulty buying a phone.

Am I missing something?

Not really a major demand spike but a combination of issues. Demand generated due to color combinations, and major carriers deals. Also a constrained supply of units once the initial upfront quantities were gone. New units are being built daily but it takes time to refill the pipeline.

It depends on the day of the week / time of day. There are not major deliveries on Sunday. Once the store receives a new delivery, It must be scanned into inventory before it will show in the store inventory for purchase.

Also this is a worldwide supply / demand since it is not better in Europe. They have the same issues we do with supplies of iPhone 17 configurations. But there still seems to be a solid supply of the iPhone 17 Air configurations.

If you had actually gone on launch day, you might have had better luck.

We went to the Glendale Galleria Apple Store 9/19 and 9/20 (forgot iCloud password so we had to return the next day to complete trade-in and pickup). I was checking online and they had stock of the blue 6.3” 17 Pro throughout the weekend. I think plenty of Los Angeles stores even had them after Monday.
