Update - today my ASD completely stopped working on my PS5. Black screen, no nothing. I tried another set of cable to connect (used to works for 1080p) and also doesn't work. After eliminating I think the issue is with ASD. However, it still works with my MBPs. I gonna contact Apple to see if there's anything I can do.
Update 7/13 - after more testing I concluded the issue is with gofanco converter. I replaced it with a new converter and it's working again.

did you replace with a different kind of converter? if so do you mind linking?
hoping to do this when they finally send my display

I got a Club3D CAC-1333 and connected my Switch to the Pro Display XDR. Since so many people got it working with the Studio Display, I thought this also will work for the Pro Display, but it doesn‘t. Tried everything, the adapter even gets a little warm, but the Pro Display doesn‘t turn on.

Edit: I have a slight feeling that the adapter maybe is faulty. When I plug it into my MacBook it doesn‘t get recognized. Can someone try if it shows up as an external display if you plug it In?

just download OBS its free. then connect a external video capture card to the hdmi on the Nintendo Switch then the USB from the video capture to your Mac. set the source on OBS to your switch and then switch OBS to full screen. you can use it on any pc or Mac. capture cards range from 30 dollars to 300 dollars. you dont need an expensive one. just 1080p for Nintendo Switch. Both audio and video work this way with no tricks. works fine for casual non competitive play. I recommend a capture card with usb 3.0 for better response time. the hdmi out on the capture card is if you want to connect a passthrough to another monitor but not needed. you just need the hdmi in for the switch and the usb connection for your Mac. if you have usb c you may need too pick up a usb a to usb c adapter with your capture card.

I emailed Club3D and they told me an adapter using the LT6711GX chipset for HDMI 2.1 to USB-C DP 1.4 would be available by July 2022, however from what frogcjn says it may not be a bandwidth limitation but the Edid communication between the PS5 and Studio Display.
That's DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1. @FUKUBIC was talking about HDMI 2.1 to DP 1.4.

CAC-1335 and CAC-1336 are out. Maybe they can do 5K/6K from HDMI to DisplayPort. But Nintendo Switch doesn't support HDMI 2.1 so it's probably not going to do 5K60. Nintendo Switch probably doesn't have an option to do custom timings?, so it's probably not going to do 5K39 as that is not a default mode of the Studio Display.

Have my display now, successfully connected switch/ps5 with the CAC-1333! Thank you to everyone here because I was previously thinking of a different more expensive route. Will buy the gofanco when I'm less broke lol. And maybe another 1333 so I can keep one attached to both of them

after a couple days of use, same issue 🤕

I'm looking to get the CAC-1333 myself but I was wondering how are you able to control brightness?

The CAC-1333 converts HDMI to 4k video, not 5k. How does the Studio Display deal with that? Is it a "cropped" image in the center of the display, or does it stretch the 4k image? (fine by me, it's only a switch fer crying out loud)

If it works, it will be stretched.

hi everyone, I've been going through this thread. Does the final conclusion and solution come down to the CAC-1333 cable?
I got a Studio Display, and I have a Series X, a PS5 and a switch. Is the cable going to work for all consoles? Are the PS5 and Xbox going to be limited to 1080p?
What about the (newer?) cables CAC-1334 and CAC-1335?

Thank you so much !

It's well covered in this thread, to get 4K on PS5 you'll need a converter like the gofanco people have linked. Not sure if anyone got it to work with Xbox. If it flickers to start there are two posts showing how to fix. I did also have the same issue as one poster where after a few days it stopped working, new one has not had that problem yet at least...

1333 cable is most convenient for me, I just take thunderbolt cord out of my MBP & connect it to that. But 1334 works as well. I have switch and PS5

What I use is the BlackMagic UltraStudio 3G Recorder to hook up my Switch over Thunderbolt 3 and OBS to monitor/record gameplay with no noticeable lag on my Pro Display XDR. I've been doing this for the last 2 years without any problem over the 3 different hardware upgrades that I've had since then from the 2018 Mac mini with BlackMagic eGPU > M1 Mac mini > Mac Stuido, noticing a better experience when going from my M1 Mac mini to my Mac Studio. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go play Super Mario Strikers: Battle League!

Any update on this topic? I was about to buy the CAC-1336 to connect a PS5 Pro to my XDR display, but seems like this would not work?
This cable should work but you won't get audio or camera on a studio display on an xdr you'd have to pipe the audio elsewhere if you're trying to use a ps5 https://a.co/d/29nGrPB
