Updated: Recommended Solution 3 & Solution 4

Solution 1 (Not Recommend):
PS5
gofanco Prophecy HDMI 2.0 to DisplayPort 1.2 Converter (Red Light: 4K@60Hz EDID)
Wacom Link Plus
→ Apple Studio Display
4K@60Hz, No Audio, No HDR.

Solution 2 (Not Recommend):
PS5
gofanco Prophecy HDMI 2.0 to DisplayPort 1.2 Converter (Red Light: 4K@60Hz EDID)
StarTech.com 3.3ft (1m) USB C to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable 4K 60Hz - Bidirectional
→ Apple Studio Display
4K@60Hz, No Audio, No HDR.

Solution 3 (Recommend For Switch):
PS5/Switch
Club3D CAC-1334
→ Apple Studio Display
1080p@60Hz, No Audio, No HDR.
720p@60Hz, No Audio, HDR.

Solution 4 (Recommend For PS5):
PS5 (Required Settings: HDR Off)
gofanco Prophecy 4K EDID Emulator - 17 EDID Modes (5-On: 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 8/10/12Bit 3D HDR video & 2ch audio)
Club3D CAC-1334
→ Apple Studio Display
4K@60Hz, No Audio, No HDR.

I also found a USB-C KVM to switch between MacBook Pro 14" and PS5:
USB-C 1 (Signal from PS5, Club3D CAC-1334) + USB-C 2 (Signal from MacBook Pro 14")
CableDeconn USB-C Type-C 8K Updated Switch USB 3.1 C Gen 2 Cable for Video Bi-Direction
→ Apple Studio Display
It could power up MacBook Pro 14" if it switch to the MacBook Pro

I bought the Club 3D HDMI to USB-C CAC-1334 On Newegg, sad to see that it will only support 1080P@60hz. According to dancharblog that is because the cable support HDMI 2.0 to USB-C DP 1.2 Alt Mode using the Lontium LT6711 chipset. Apparently a HDMI 2.1 to USB-C DP 1.4 Alt Mode cable with the Lontium LT6711GX Chipset is required for higher resolutions, however there is no cable on the market that uses this chip yet. Hopefully Club3D comes out with a cable that uses it, but the CAC-1333 and CAC-1334 came out recently so it may take a while

it supports 4K@60Hz, but it may need an extra EDID

Do you know of any cheaper EDID alternatives? It costs $120 to ship to Canada from amazon.

I tried it wrote US$64.99 price and US$8.81 Amazon global US$7.80 Import tax. You can search the product name "

gofanco Prophecy 4K EDID Emulator – 17 EDID Modes" in google and try to find different platforms, e.g. eBay.

Thanks for your comprehensive research, @frogcjn!

I have three questions:

  1. Since the Club3D CAC-1334 is working with both the Switch and PS5 (1080p @ 60Hz), do you think it also works with an Xbox Series S connected to the Apple Studio Display?
  2. If a set of speakers is connected directly to the Apple Studio Display with a USB-C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter, do you think that the Club3D CAC-1334 will provide sound output through these speakers?
  3. Can the Club3D CAC-1334 potentially harm the Apple Studio Display in any means?
Thanks a lot in advance!

If someone figures out how to connect the Switch with sound, no EDID and just one cable (1080P @60Hz is fine for me), let me know. Thank you in advance and for the work already done!

I emailed Club3D and they told me an adapter using the LT6711GX chipset for HDMI 2.1 to USB-C DP 1.4 would be available by July 2022, however from what frogcjn says it may not be a bandwidth limitation but the Edid communication between the PS5 and Studio Display.

That is great news! I guess this will make the Belkin/Huawei VR USB cable superfluous?

Why oh why could Apple not have included a 2nd input?

I feel terrible seeing all the posts about everyone trying to hack around to simply “plug in another device”

I have spent several hours racking my brain on why Apple didn't include any additional input.

In my best best marketing voice (technically I do product marketing for work), here's my philosophy:

If Apple added a second input, people would be tempted to plug in a Windows computer, Chromebook, game console, etc. And it probably wouldn't work! So people would get mad, and there would be lots of returns and online griping.

With a single input, it's easier to market as "the display you need for your Mac". Nothing more, nothing less. Obviously it's not unreasonable to have more than one Mac, but no one will buy this monitor without at least one Mac. So it's essentially guaranteed to work, with little chance a consumer can muck it up.

I’m just running a cable from my Switch to a speaker. Seeing as how with my old Dell monitor I had to run a cable from the monitor to some speakers, it’s no big deal. Switch Bluetooth audio works ok too.

I see! There's no jack input on the Xbox Series S console but only on the controller. The jack input on the controller is mediocre in sound quality and is also facing towards you, so it's inconvenient to connect a pair of speakers to this one.

It would have been very nice if one could use the USB-C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter to connect a pair of speakers to the Apple Studio Display, with sound output from a console that is connected with the Club3D CAC-1334.

When we got the Apple Studio display with the best speakers system on any monitor on the market and for some of us maybe the best speaker system in the house, is ridiculous to be necessary use another speaker on the computer.

Paying Apple for useless speakers in addition to useless features like the Center Stage....

Yeah. I strongly consider just to cancel my order on the Studio Display and keep the current monitor, as it's unnecessary hassle to get the Studio Display to work with gaming consoles.

Considering or did you do it?
Haven't cancelled it yet. I'm waiting to see if someone has got the Xbox Series S + Club3D CAC-1334 to work with the Studio Display. And also if I can get sound output through a set of speakers connected to the Studio Display with a USB-C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter when running the Xbox Series S.

Complicated stuff. ?

If you mean, connected to the display? I can answer that for you, no way.

The Club3D cable will exclusively carry a picture. No data, no sound.
Yes, I meant with the speakers connected to the Studio Display.

Thanks for the information! Then I’ll just stick to my current setup.

My understanding from some other posts is that no other speakers or camera will work connected to the USB- c ports of the Studio Display.
But why should one do this when paid for The display with The best speakers in town??

Some posts report success using Gofanco Prophecy to demux audio from the hdmi and routing to a speaker system for use with PS and XDR display.

I am still waiting for that magic yet non-existent HDMI to Tb3 cable with audio, not really understanding why is so difficult, both HDMI and TB3 carry audio

I confirm that Club3D CAC-1334 / CAC-1333 works like a charm for the Nintendo Switch (without audio). I use my AirPods Max on the Switch now that's an option.
Club3D CAC-1333 is a better idea imo since it's a female cable and I find this is more easy to switch if you have a MacBook connected to the Studio Display ! You just unplug the MacBook & plug to the female cable for the switch and it takes a second, not even more complicated than using a KVM (and less expensive + no risk of "loosing" something from the KVM capacity)

Thank you for posting this! Now only if they could make this cable but with audio throughput, maybe if we sent this thread to Club3D.
