Finally got an update on an XS Max 64GB Gold. It was charged 30 minutes or so ago.

Can someone confirm if you do a device payment buyout, that it shows up on your account and applies it towards the balance due on your bill?

I believe so. My card was charged on Sunday and today Verizon sent me a notice that my next bill is due and it's ~$55 cheaper, which is close to the $54/month I'll be paying for my Xs Max.
 
Super Sad, went into store on saturday to pre order like an idiot, get a print out that says it arrives 9/22. Big hype. Come to find out its actually 10/10. Big sad
 
I paid with Apple Pay- still havent been charged, but my card hasn’t been declined yet. For those that had their cards declined, did your ship date change? Or is it still set for release date

My shipping date is gone now I don’t have one. :( I can tell you if they move it to October I am going cancel my order and do a pickup at the Apple Store. Which is what I should have done in the first place.

Pre ordered on Friday 09/14. Confirmation email from Verizon says delivery by 09/21. Verizon app currently says processing order will ship soon. Purchased using PayPal. Charge posted at the moment of checkout. hope I see it this Friday but by the looks of things it would have shipped already if that were going to happen.

Many show shipping Thursday with overnight delivery on Friday. There’s still plenty of time!
 
Mine has changed from pending to processing and my next bill is reflecting the charges (I did bill to account) so there is still hope for those not charged yet

They charged mine to my card when they charge for the new phone right before shipping.
 
So how do we know what shipping company they are going to use? I still haven’t gotten a confirmation email but my CC has been charged

Typically FedEx, but it can vary. Of the phones I ordered from Verizon on pre-order, only one (6 Plus) shipped UPS. It's whoever is willing to take the load for a good price. Normally it's FedEx, especially since, in the US, Apple uses UPS.
 
I’m about to lay hands on this Verizon rep I dealt with!!!

Bank flagged the watches and I called to update payment as it had been over an hour with no email to fix it (bank sent an email and I verified the purchase sonit could be re-run).

This absolute idiot knew I said to not cancel the order and did it anyway. I blew my top and laid him out because, ironically, less than 3 minutes later, the email to correct the payment came in. I had told him if they couldn’t reprocess the card, then just leave the order alone and I would wait.

2 and a half hours later, after putting me through to his supervisor, they placed the order again (and couldn’t reuse the discounts I had on the first order) so I have to pay a higher amount (discounts essentially took care of upgrade fees and $50 off each watch). The supervisor apologized profusely and put in a Jump the Line request with the promise that I should get the watches Friday as scheduled originally (Gold SS 44 says 9/21 in the new order, SB SS 44 says 10/17 now) and he credited an additional $170 to my bill for the screw up. I swear, it doesn’t pay to deal with reps at Verizon at all! Those watches both better come in Friday or I will up and leave Verizon. I pay way too much for that level of incompetence. I mean, I said several times, “Do NOT cancel my order”
 
Looking like the new serial number showed up in my Verizon portal using the mobile browser on my IPhone X! Login to your account go under the order where you can track via FedEx number and it’s listed there. I then checked the device ID on Apple side to confirm it exists and matches my order. However you can’t get AppleCare+ until it’s activated FYI doh
Definitely getting the lost or stolen AppleCare+ :)

Cell phone providers have some of the worst customer service of any industry. I've jumped carriers before, and there have been a few times that I've threatened Verizon with a cancelation if bills mistakes, unwanted account changes, or unwanted protection plans weren't reversed. One time I purchased a device from the store and they didn't tell me they were adding mobile protection, nor did I sign anything for it. Retentions reversed the charges and permanently moved me to a better plan for less money. They have tremendous pull. Although I would not personally use a 'I'm leaving' card for this instance, especially since the rep offered quite a bit, if you feel it's warranted go ahead. I'd be pissed too.

Ummm, WTF?! I have ordered multiple phones from Verizon and never gotten a message like this. Also, why was the order JUST received today when I placed it on preorder day?
I got the same text and then that night my account was charged and my phone shipped. Don’t know why they would send that so late tho

I just hope now that the cost is higher than it initially was, the bank doesn’t flag it again if they retry sometime tomorrow or Thursday. But if that happens, I know to just wait out the email this time. Omg, I’m still fuming even now....

Those reps don't care. Retentions does. They have way more leeway. The threat of loosing a PacTel-era family account, in which we pay $250 for service alone, is enough to get their attention. I just remind them AT&T has similar promotions and they would be more than happy to process a port on an entire account lol.

I got my decline email, and then after updating it, what happens is:
  1. App went from a blue "PENDING" to a red "PROCESSING"
  2. Shipment date on app disappears
  3. Shipment date on website still says 21st. (not deliver by date, although according to people here that's probably the deliver by date, I hope)
Also, I know I am definitely in a very small minority here, but for those who do not have a SSN because you're a foreigner, put in "6789" for your last four digits of SSN (they ask you for that when you update payment).

I haven't seen anyone whose Apple Pay was successful in this preorder post. I think Apple Pay does not support delayed payment processing. What happened for me is that a grey, crossed-out transaction appears in the Wallet app, and then the decline email arrives instantly.

I would say that keep an eye out for the decline email, and as soon as you see it, update it right away. You have up to 7 days to update, but they probably (almost definitely) wouldn't send out the shipment without the payment, so putting off the update will push your shipment date to a later date. Also, when you update the payment, they will charge you on the spot, so you needn't worry about a second delayed decline. (My BoA credit card was actually declined when updating the payment, followed by the BoA text "Did you do this?")

The decline email comes from "donotreply@verizonwireless.com", so maybe set that as an VIP in your phone for now...
