If you schedule to pick up at the sorting center, there is no delay with UPS. They simply don’t put it on a truck once it’s received. If you schedule to pick up at a secondary location like a UPS Store then it does delay your pickup date.

If you schedule to pick up at the sorting center, there is no delay with UPS. They simply don’t put it on a truck once it’s received. If you schedule to pick up at a secondary location like a UPS Store then it does delay your pickup date.
I ordered 2 phones. One for my wife whose phone was paid off. They posted the fees for taxes and up grade to our account. I had to pay to get up to 50% to upgrade my phone. That plus taxes and upgrade fee were charged to my debit card.
Same I had to pay all fees during the upgrade order
It’s entertaining to read people’s paranoia. I’ve been ordering online with Verizon for 3 years and following this thread. You can tell who are the rookies ordering online for the first time bc they believe everything the reps say and are troubled by the ship by/delivered by.
Anyways, I hope you all get your phones on release day or before.
So my order this year has been a little chaotic. First, I selected PayPal as my payment method but when I got the email confirmation it went through with my visa card on file. Second, my payment failed but who knows why since it’s the same card I’ve been using for years in autopay to pay the bill. I fixed it by paying with my paypal card [palm to face]. And last but not least, today my tracking says it’s out for delivery but I very much doubt I’ll get it today bc Apple is very strict on the carriers about this. They have a big label on saying do not deliver until 09-21-18.
It might slip through and get to the driver but it won’t pass from there. Unless, he’s your friend or family member and you keep your mouth shut about it.

So true. This was me last year and the years before that. I've finally realized that it really doesn't matter. You'll get it when it says you'll get it.

Thats only if you pick a NON UPS customer counter. If you do a UPS store or the like, it WILL delay your date. If you have it held at the distribution hub/CC, you can pick it up same day. Have done it three years now (at least when my phone ships UPS).

I'm not a rookie. I've been doing this for years through Verizon. Last year Verizon did delay my phone.
You've kept me very entertained and have been saying the things I'm sure others are thinking. We're all here with you! =)
There are parts of this launch that are exactly the same as previous years, other parts that are different. Shocked to see that its been 3+ years and they still havent fixed the ship/deliver by discrepancy. So thats the same.
On the other hand, this is the latest Ive ever been charged and had my order ship- wednesday before release and still no charge.
While I do agree with this, I also understand people's concern about orders not updating/charging CC etc. Gives the impression that something is wrong with the order. And if there is something wrong, it's unlikely that Verizon makes an effort to let you know in a timely manner.

If there is no movement/CC charge tonight or tomorrow, one of two things will happen. A whole bunch of activity will update Thursday night into Friday morning and your phone will show up, or, your phone will not arrive and adjustments will be made to the delivery date.
People are just too paranoid about why their phone hasn't shipped. Most shipments from Fed Ex in Memphis are overnight. So IOW, they won't leave Memphis until tomorrow, and will arrive friday. Fed Ex has been doing overnight for years. They know what they are doing. If you are scheduled to get your phone on friday, you WILL get it on friday, unless your payment doesn't clear or there is bad weather that causes a cancellation of the flight.
Got my case...now, I just wait for Friday.
You know its been such an anxiety-filled past few days but its def been exciting. So glad that they sent out my shipping info. I hope everyone on this thread gets charged or an email in regards to shipping later on tonight. My prayers are with you all!! 
Anyone that ordered the max through verizon and a watch get watch shipping information yet? My phone shipped watch still shows processing and both are supposed to be 9/21
I just caved and ordered an hour ago. Gold 256GB XS. Says will be delivered Friday. We will see I guess, doesn’t seem to be much demand for the XS. But I don’t want to deal with the size of the XS Max.
Last night when I checked, there were gold models available for shipping on launch day, but the SG and Silver models were oct 3 I believe. All the Max models are Oct 10.
