Verizon. He even ordered his after mine, yet it still managed to slip through. Out for Delivery on a FedEx truck right now!
No, they will not. A first attempt must be made. Use a release form - http://releaseforms.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/fedex-shipment-signature-release-form.pdf - I used this last year without issue. Plan on using it this year.
Guarantee its not the phone. Willing to bet its just the box to send back his old phone.
I don't think so, he's not trading in the old one as far as I know. It's the tracking number Verizon sent him when the phone was shipped
That's amazing! I thought maybe it was the trade-in box too. I got mine on Monday and tracking said it's coming from Verizon. I decided not to trade in right now though.
Must have snuck through, I do remember that happened to a few people last year, they got it on Thursday, never heard of one coming as early as Wed though.
Same. My card said fraud. I called within an hour and had them just bill my account. That was over twelve hours ago and I have no ship date now. Still waiting.Last night my Amex was declined b/c of fraud, and I caught it within 30 minutes and re-applied the payment successfully with Verizon. I lost my 9/21 "arrive by" date, and I was despondent. Then I came into work this morning, and I checked again, and I had a tracking number for my XS max silver 256. Nothing for my watch yet, that's still processing. But this morning I'm like:
Yeah I am the same 64GB Gold Max no movement at all.

Yeah, gold is not going to be scarce by any means. So anyone hoping to buy them up and sell for a profit are going to be SOL.
Yesterday I got the “your order was received and we will text you when it ships” text from Verizon. Just now I received my shipping notice. Ordered at 12:37 AM PST on Friday morning, 256 GB SG MAX.
Also it seems Verizon isn’t the only company who is inconsistent between their website and app. The FedEx app says delivery will be by 8 PM on the 21st, while the website says by 3 PM. I’m trying to have it held at the depot so I can pick it up first thing but so far I’m not seeing that option. I’m hoping it’s because FedEx hasn’t actually received the package from Verizon’s warehouse yet.

It probably is the phone out for delivery, but I bet it won't be delivered. When the driver scans it, it will pop up a message about "holding" the package. Driver will place back into bin and move onto next delivery. Will go out on Friday 9/21. This happened to me with the iPhone 5. Driver actually pulled up to my house, was walking up to the door, scanned package - then turned around (still carrying package). I asked him what was up. He said "somehow this package made it on the truck, but I can't deliver it until....." What a bummer.
Seriously? FedEx are the absolute worst. I’ve never had good experiences with them. There’s no reason why I shouldn’t be able to pick up the package at the depot if I choose to.
For my new account, no real update as far as shipment. I sucked it up and did call to make sure the order will at least go through. The wait was long again but the rep did say the fraud alert was taken care of and the order should process. If I get it Friday as the email originally said great, if not I can wait until it comes. If the order doesn't process after this I think I'm going to just stick it out with att. I don't know if its a new customer thing but Verizon hold times are horrible. I never had to wait more than a few mins to reach someone with att.
My phone shipped this morning at 5:30 MST/8:30 EDT via FedEx for Friday delivery! Finally this saga is coming to an end. Can't wait to get my shiny new baby!
I've had them hold the package at the facility before. Just call in and ask for it to be held at your local facility (it's helpful to know your final sort facility off hand). If they can't however, then blame Verizon because of the restrictions put on the package. In 2015, my father and I ordered our 6s Pluses together and we were able to request that UPS hold them at the local facility (a major Southern California hub too). We did it because our delivery person was notoriously late to our house; It was not uncommon for packages to come well past dusk. Verizon didn't put any restrictions other than Delivery Date with UPS, but for some reason they do with FedEx.

You can request UPS hold at the Customer Counter without issue (it's why I like UPS). FedEx, not so much. Every time I have tried or looked into it or heard, you cannot. A first attempt must be made before.
I have about 6 packages flooding in from FedEx this week and next. On all of them, I can modify the delivery online by signing into my FedEx account. The only exception is my iPhone. Maybe it's because of the signature requirement, or a restriction put on Verizon, I do not know. I'm assuming it's the latter however, as I have been able to do this on signature-required packages with FedEx before.
I placed an order for 2 cases on yesterday so they would arrive Fri and they just shipped via UPS. Still waiting on my phone to finish processing though... *sigh*
