I'm not a rookie. I've been doing this for years through Verizon. Last year Verizon did delay my phone.
I didn’t mean to offend anyone who’s gone through stuff with Verizon but typically that’s how I can tell someone ordering for the first time. I hope you get your phone on release day. The wait is always fun (as long as it’s processesed smoothly). Makes me feel like a kid in Christmas and it became a tradition reading this forum while I wait for my phone.
Here are some helpful tips for new online buyers:
1. If you haven’t been charged, call Verizon, tell them your concern but make sure they don’t cancel your order for any reason or modify anything if they’re not sure. Most Verizon reps are not computer savvy. They’ll try to help you and accidentally cancel your order by randomly clicking things. This is irreversible.
2. Be on top of your emails for credit card charge problems. Use the link in the email to process the charge instead of calling. They will have a hard time finding a way to charge because that’s out of their jurisdiction and it belongs to the billing department.
3. Use any little inconvenience to ask for the “upgrade fee” credit. You’ll have better chances at getting it.
4. DO NOT trust on what reps tell you. And that applies to everything. Delivery dates. Charges. Always make sure you get an email confirmation for credits and other things they verbally assure about.
5. Call your bank for preaproval of upcoming charges from Verizon wireless, most banks have that feature.
6. If you get charged on/or before Wednesday night you’ll have your phone by Friday. Orders have different shipping locations depending of where you order from. If you see a bunch of people getting charged for the exact phone or watch model you’re getting just be patient and enjoy the wait. You will eventually get charged as long as you have delivery on release day.
7. Make sure someone’s at home to sign for your delivery. I personally don’t trust the signed release paper. Specially if you live in a sketchy neighborhood.
8. Do not try to make changes to your delivery by calling Verizon, it will delay your delivery guaranteed. As for carriers, unless you ONLY call for “hold for pickup” it will most likely delay your order.
