You will get your phone tomorrow. They will probably fly it out to VA tonight and drive it to your local hub and in the am it will be sent out for delivery. These guys have it down to a science.

Yeah mine was shipped by 2nd day air so i don't know when exactly it'll come. i work from 9:30 to 8 and my gf works from 8-4. Her brother is coming to watch while we are gone, hopefully it comes early enough so i can run home and set it up.

I just don't understand. I ordered my brother's phone within the first hour of the launch. Has my status changed yet? Nope. No tracking number or info of any kind has been added. VZW support has been no help, also.

Yeah.... not doing that. I live in a decent area, but cars have been broken into lately, so I'm not big on that. I am going to try to get them to deliver it to the property management building (I live in an area that is mixed with rented/owned townhouses), but since it is up to them, not sure if they will honor it or not.

you could leave a note to have fedex leave it with a neighbor and they sign for it.....or possibly pick up saturdays. the door stickie they leave will tell you when to go to the fedex depot, usually at end of the delivery day. our depot is open on saturdays for pick ups. just bring id and your door stickie note.

I think you can do an indirect signature - meaning leave a note with your name and info - requesting Fedex to leave the package- and signing it

No, FedEx requires you call them and give them a heads up so they can make a note on the package for the driver. They specifically told me you can't rely on the driver leaving the package if you don't call them and arrange for it first. You also need to leave a paper taped to your door including your name, tracking number, address, directions on where to leave your package, and a signature. This information MUST be from the account holder.

Has anyone else not received a shipping notice email yet, and still have a 10/14 delivery?

The order status links are not accurate. Mine still saying processing, and I received my shipping notification with a tracking number hours ago. So, chances are, your package has already been shipped. And I ordered 10/7 at 11pm EST. They didn't send me the shippping notification until around 6pm, and in actuality, my package was picked up by FedEx at 2:30. So, keep in mind everything is a disaster in FedEx and Verizon's databases. I'm not even able to TRACK my order using FedEx's website tracking system. I have to go to my original shipping e-mail from Verizon and fortunately they provide the latest shipping info/status there...and it is being updated. It's now 45 minutes from my house at a FedEx hub. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that helps. I haven't even got a notification. Email yet though. Guess all I can do is trust it works out.

Mine left Louisville at 8:15pm. Just had an arrival scan in Philadelphia. My location is Philadelphia, I'm not sure what time UPS delivers around here but does this mean it could be earlier in the day?

Sounds like this thread will be a ghost town next week when I'm actually expecting mine :(

Didn't get to order till Sunday, "deliver by" 10/21

Not necessarily, just means it will for sure be out for delivery tomorrow. Depends how many other locations they gotta go to and typically they always do businesses first.

UPS Shipping

If you go back through this thread some nice person put a link up for those of us that won't be home but want UPS to leave our phone. Personally I am too lazy to go back through. Also if you sign up for UPS choice (free) you can accept a package with an online signature. I did both to cover myself. Hopefully they will leave my phone if have to leave my house tomorrow.:)

In our neighborhood, if were not home the ups guy will automatically ring our neighbors and leave packages there with neighbor's signature and then leave a note letting us know who its with....the flip side is that we have to return the favor if we answer the door when they ring.

but here in nyc, we are all on top of each other.

our fedex guy will not automatically do that, but will upon a written request. we don't usually do this because it requires us to know in advance when packages are coming...and normally we never track our packages. luckily the fedex depot isn't far from us.

Called them, they didn't say the driver had to know about it, but he told me to leave a letter with all the information you previously mentioned. If he doesn't leave it with the office, I guess I am taking a mini road trip to get my phone after work. :D

I ordered at 7am EST on October 7th. My package (iPhone 4S 16GB white) departed Louisville, KY at 1:38PM today. That's the latest information I see at the moment. Delivery is to Northern Virginia.

I usually just leave a note posted on my door letting them know that I want them to leave it at the door and that I take full responsibility of the package once they drop it off and sign it. It always works for me. UPS guy usually arrives at my house at around 6PM, but I hope he comes earlier tomorrow :)

So I just got off the phone with Verizon (3rd time today). This time a lady answered and sounded as if she knew what was going on. Apparently, some orders that were originally scheduled for the 14th got pushed back. At random I guess, seeing how I ordered at 3-fricken-AM, 1 hour after launch. Also, she couldn't give me any expected ship date.

But she told me that if a store had one in stock, they could cancel my preorder in-store and use an in-stock unit. Guess that's what I'll be doing...waiting outside early in the morning for something that shoulda been here automatically.

She gave me a $20 credit for the hassle, not enough IMO.

Really, really irritating. First Apple product I've tried to preorder, btw.

Let me know if you get something on your status. I'm up in Northern Virginia too.

I can't find this post, and UPS choice asks me for an account number which I don't have for an online signature.

Can someone lead me to the post he is referring to?

I posted this in another thread but it might be what you are looking for. First, I was on my UPS tracking page. I saw an ad for UPS My Choice and signed up for it. It was a free registration, it required me to fill in some personal information and verify my identity with questions you might see when running a credit report. Once I had my account setup, this is how I enabled the shipment release option:

I selected the "Tracking" option on the top of the UPS page. On the page that came up, I selected the brown "UPS My Choice" tab near the top left. On the next page that came up, in the top right corner there is a blue link to "Preferences". Near the bottom of this page there is an option called "Delivery Instructions" and the only link in my section was "Authorize Shipment Release". I clicked this and on the pop-up window that came up I checked the box and hit okay. About an hour later on the tracking number page, a link appeared beneath the "Signature Required" heading that allowed me to authorize the release of the shipment.
