The awesome part only starts when your actually dealing with Apple or their products. Blame this one on Verizon. You'll love your phone, trust me. Enjoy.

This isn't my first Apple product or iPhone, it's for my brother. The person buying his Droid was expecting to buy it Saturday.

What irritates me the most is that Verizon publicly said that all orders before the cutoff would be shipped/delivered on the 14th. Like wtf Verizon. Apparently that doesn't apply to my account.

Mine must have just been removed from the larger containers because now I show an origin scan at Louisville, KY and delivery by end of day tomorrow. I can finally rest...

I posted this in another thread but it might be what you are looking for. First, I was on my UPS tracking page. I saw an ad for UPS My Choice and signed up for it. It was a free registration, it required me to fill in some personal information and verify my identity with questions you might see when running a credit report. Once I had my account setup, this is how I enabled the shipment release option:

I selected the "Tracking" option on the top of the UPS page. On the page that came up, I selected the brown "UPS My Choice" tab near the top left. On the next page that came up, in the top right corner there is a blue link to "Preferences". Near the bottom of this page there is an option called "Delivery Instructions" and the only link in my section was "Authorize Shipment Release". I clicked this and on the pop-up window that came up I checked the box and hit okay. About an hour later on the tracking number page, a link appeared beneath the "Signature Required" heading that allowed me to authorize the release of the shipment.

I don't have a delivery instructions box in my preferences. This is so difficult and it really shouldn't be.

Hmmm, what to do. I cant be there for delivery, but wife has volunteered. So I either wait, or run the risk of spousal tampering.

I guess it takes a while for their system to update, just like ben said. I was able to override the signature confirmation via UPS's website just now.

So I just got off the phone with Verizon (3rd time today). This time a lady answered and sounded as if she knew what was going on. Apparently, some orders that were originally scheduled for the 14th got pushed back. At random I guess, seeing how I ordered at 3-fricken-AM, 1 hour after launch. Also, she couldn't give me any expected ship date.

But she told me that if a store had one in stock, they could cancel my preorder in-store and use an in-stock unit. Guess that's what I'll be doing...waiting outside early in the morning for something that shoulda been here automatically.

She gave me a $20 credit for the hassle, not enough IMO.

Really, really irritating. First Apple product I've tried to preorder, btw.

Im in kinda the same situation, I was originally told I would get it tomorrow but now I have been told the 28th. She said I could cancel it now and buy one in store after the cancellation goes through within 24 hours. I asked if I could just cancel it in store when I buy the other one, but she said she didn't know, I could try. I guess I'll be in line in the morning. I hope whoever you talked to was right...

Yeah, I talked to a second rep just a short while ago and she also said that would work. If not, I might be raising some h3ll. Kinda ******** that some people didn't get notified. I'm just hoping I'm able to get one in the morning.

It took a while for the authorize package release link to appear, but this worked like a charm. Thanks for posting!

I guess we'll find out in a few hours.... Surely if I make a little fuss the manager can make something happen. I mean I would have never pre ordered to begin with if I hadn't been told that I would get it tomorrow. Seems someone should make it right.

My feelings exactly. This has defeated my entire purpose of preordering.

Odd cuz mine left Newark, (New Jersey, I'm guessing) at 7:52 pm even though it arrived there at 1:27 in the morning, so it was there for well over 12 hours :/

Hoping mine shows up early tomorrow since I dont live too far away from Newark either.

Your statuses should update soon. Mine didn't update until after midnight. The last update I got before that was at 8:30 AM.

Mine arrived in Columbus about an hour ago and is now just down the road from my apartment. I should have my phone in my hands within the next 12 hours. It's been a fun ride, everyone. See you on the other side!

im probably not gonna be home tomorrow. i talked to a fedex rep about possible holding it for me but she told me that before the first attempt verizon is the one that needs to make the request otherwise after the first delivery attempt i can make the request. did any of you get a verizon rep to make fedex hold the shipment?
