Just want to say all you in a rush to move your verizon number to ESIM, remember this when you go to get your phone next year and the heartache you will endure when you can't easily swap phones anymore. Good luck with that!
It is very easy to delete the eSIM from the phone. Pop in a new SIM and you should be good to go.

Nice! Now I can try Verizon without going to a store. I wish att allowed you to add a line from the app rather then needing to visit a store!
Man I hate to be a negative Nancy but there goes more jobs, less hiring of actual people. And i’m Someone who just used the esim

I had to be moved up two tiers in support but the third person knew exactly how to take care of it.

I had the same experience this past Sunday. Took three calls, but when I finally got to the person who knew what they were doing, it took less than 30 minutes.

Yes, you are. Apple Watch uses eSIM.

I mean I get that. I have the S3 on att and activated the esim. Just saying it feels like those days. Where it’s basically a serial number that gets activated. Iccid im assuming is used on the esim and just activated the way esn/meid used to be remotely. Cause you didn’t have to get any new hardware to active a new cdma phone back in the day. But if you disconnected a sim, it isn’t possible to activate again. Thank god *228 is dead lol

So even though they haven’t said that they officially support it yet. You can activate an eSim on T-Mobile following the steps here: https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/149181 basically just call them and say you have a new SIM card you want to activate (don’t mention eSim) and when they ask you for the SIM card number, give them the EID in settings>general>about instead of the normal iccid from a physical SIM card. They may say the number sounds long (because it is longer) but just tell them it’s a valid sim number. It should activate in their system and after that you just need to go into settings>ce;puparium choose Add cellular plan, and scan the QR code in that link. Should activate your eSIM no problem.

I know it doesn't
I'm not too tech savvy but since it doesn't require a physical sim cant this be released to the X via a software update
It requires the physical eSim hardware in the phone. Built into XR, XS, XS-Max but not in the X.

Untapped market for carriers. No friction try before you commit. Activate your eSim with us, don't even need to mute the TV. Totally free for 15 days. If you like it, here's where you can put in your credit card and port your number. If you don't, no harm done.

Can you use both Verizon and AT&T Service on the same device? One for work and one for personal.

Yes, I got my personal Verizon line moved to the eSim and use a TruPhone physical sim which is on the AT&T network.
[doublepost=1544630026][/doublepost]To those having issues with getting an existing Verizon line moved to the eSim, use the tech support number, and start by asking for a rep that can activate eSim. Not all reps have the access. I had to go to a tier 2 rep. Process took 10 minutes once I had the right person.

I wish they listed prices. I would like to try Verizon and see how their service is as I am currently on AT&T.

I am willing to pay for a trial account... And would also like to try T Mobile as well.

The online chat can complete this process which is tech support. Did mine on Thursday. Took a second rep to get it done. First rep didn't know anything about it. Not all reps are familiar with the process.

I’ve spoke to two Verizon CS reps who told me it is impossible for Verizon to move my existing line to my esim. They said I can only have another carrier to activate my esim. I’m on my 3rd rep now...
Same here from launch day on Friday. Spent a few hours talking to 15 different people to no avail. They really don’t have their stuff together

I confirmed with VZW that this does not work on their Prepaid plans, not just data only but any prepaid plans. :(

Oh well; I actually considered coming back to VZW if they supported this but I guess not.

My case is a little different, as I already have two lines with VZW and wanted to consolidate them on my XS.

Called VZW customer service, was transferred twice, and the process took about 15 minutes. The guy doing my transfer said he had only done a handful of eSIM provisioning, and those were all people adding a new line from VZW.

The process involved emailing me a QR code. Settings --> Cellular --> Add Cellular Plan --> scan the QR code.

Service dropped off the old phone and appeared in my XS within a minute.

I set up my custom voicemail greeting and I was done.

Only downside is there's no easy process to transfer your data from one AppleID to another. Thankfully, the phone I was transferring from had very little to transfer. I had to manually AirDrop the contacts, a handful of photos, and download the apps I was using.

Chatted with VZW rep, he sent me an email with the QR code. Activated. Woo!

EDIT: Oh, great. Wi-Fi calling is busted. I'm traveling too, boohoo.

EDIT2: fast forward 12 hours and wi-fi calling is back even tho the rep assured me it had to be activated in the US... google hangouts is a good alternative anyway

What carrier are you with now? If AT&T, move that line to the eSim and get a regular sim from where ever. Prepaid works fine this way......

WiFi calling and data were both wonky for me until I rebooted the phone after the line moved to the eSim. Once I booted the phone, all is well.

I'm abroad, so they said wifi calling has to be enabled when you're connected to the verizon network, can't be done on roaming! oh well

Also discovered you have to turn on cellular data switching if you want to use data while on a call. eSIM cannot do data and call simultaneously; it reverts to the other SIM for data.
