that is correctEssentially I'd be paying the subsidized price for the phone, extending my contract, and keeping my UDP?

That's amazing, I've known about this method but never really looked into it because work paid for my phones. I just bought a 6S at full price! I still have 9 days to return it though....that is correct
I returned my 6s yesterday and i'm getting a new one this Monday and now my contract expire 2017That's amazing, I've known about this method but never really looked into it because work paid for my phones. I just bought a 6S at full price! I still have 9 days to return it though....
I really need to figure out how to get my one line account extended....I returned my 6s yesterday and i'm getting a new one this Monday and now my contract expire 2017
I read on stickdeals that you can do it but you have to do the best buy methodI really need to figure out how to get my one line account extended....
That's what I'd like to do. Just trying to find the right way to do it.I read on stickdeals that you can do it but you have to do the best buy method
what I understand is that you have to order the phone using best buy . Once you received the phone do not turn it on with the sim that came in. swap the sim that you're using right now. That's what I'd like to do. Just trying to find the right way to do it.
Well... Were you not able to google this yourself? If you were trying to be the English police you were wrong anyway.I think you need to look up the word "ethics."
When it's being shipped the "upgrade available" will disappear. I ordered thru Best Buy using the same method.
That's exactly what I said, order on the basic line and when the iPhone 6s comes in don't turn on but take out the sim and put my old sim from my iPhone 5 which is the unlimited line in the iPhone 6s and activate iPhone 6s on Verizon. When it's being shipped the "upgrade available" will disappear. I ordered thru Best Buy using the same method.
Incorrect. You will not lose your unlimited data if you swap the new SIM out with your old SIM. The new plan is tied to the SIM. That's why you remove the new SIM with the phone OFF and swap it with the old SIM to void the activation of the new data plan. I can say it does not void your unlimited data because I've upgraded my unlimited data line using the methods from the Slickdeals thread last year. Even if buy thru Verizon's website.
Just placed the order. I won't blame youwhat I understand is that you have to order the phone using best buy . Once you received the phone do not turn it on with the sim that came in. swap the sim that you're using right now.
That's how I think you have to do it but If you loose your UDP do not blame me
Why not order from Apple or Best Buy and do the Best Buy Method which is the SIM swap?I have two lines with unlimited. I did one with the best buy method and it worked. Now I'm trying to do the other one but it's not letting me transfer the upgrade on bestbuy.com. If I use the VZ website, I'm able transfer the upgrade to another line, my question is when I get the phone do I use the old sim card just like the best buy method?
Yup. Just give it time. It will change. It took awhile for my "upgrade available" to fall off but once it shipped. It disappeared.Thanks. I figured the dust was still settling on changes to my account; I'll check again once the phone has been shipped.
I just thought it was strange that when I first checked a few hours after purchasing the new phone through Best Buy's website, subsidized/upgrade option was gone and my contract was extended to 2017, but if I check as of right now, the option of purchasing another subsidized phone is back.
But you said you CAN'T upgrade the unlimited data line using the Best Buy method. But I'm telling you or correcting you, that you don't have to upgrade a basic line or another line either. You can in fact upgrade the unlimited data line using the SIM swap technique. That's exactly what I said, order on the basic line and when the iPhone 6s comes in don't turn on but take out the sim and put my old sim from my iPhone 5 which is the unlimited line in the iPhone 6s and activate iPhone 6s on Verizon.

At least you'd be getting the subsidized cost of the phone. The other thought is what if Verizon audits these accounts and any that were used to upgrade at Best Buy they change you to a tiered plan?If this article is true, we still don't know if Verizon will still charge the $20.00 for unlimited whether you are off contract or in contract. They may only look if you have unlimited and add the $20.00 so people may be upgrading phones for nothing.

That could also happen...I'm still undecided if I should upgrade to the 6s just to extend my contract for unlimited 2 more yrs. I ran the math and it almost works out to be the same cost for me. I only have 1 line that is unlimited. If I upgrade it would have to be the 128 GB model since I'm maxed out of the 64 GB.
Math:
Cost to purchase 6s 128 GB using the Best Buy Method
$424.00 (includes tax)
BB site also says $35.00 Verizon upgrade fee if true that would be $460.00
Don't upgrade and keep my iPhone 5 pay the extra $20.00 hike for 2 yrs
$20.00 x 24 months $480.00
In 2 yrs, this is almost about the same price, I don't really NEED a new phone, my 5 is working great, I'd only do it to avoid the $20.00 a month but working the math, doesn't seem to be that much difference.
It doesn't ask you to pick a plan. The confirmation email will show "keep existing data plan" but if you activate the SIM, it will move you to a default new plan. It used to be the 2GB plan; I'm not sure what it does now with the new plans.Your right, I didn't see the Best Buy method since I had never heard of that, the last time I did this was back in 2012 with my iPhone 5 and I used my 2nd dumb phone line to order it thru Verizon, I guess there are new ways of doing this now.
So if I use the Best Buy method and order a iPhone 6s using my unlimited line isn't Best Buy going to ask me to pick a data plan in order to move the screen forward to order it at the subsidized price? The website link that shows you how to use the BB method doesn't say, it just says order the new phone using your unlimited line upgrade but doesn't say if they are going to ask you to pick a data plan since unlimited is no longer an option.
Then it'd be material change that would allow someone to get out of contract, right? If this article is true, we still don't know if Verizon will still charge the $20.00 for unlimited whether you are off contract or in contract. They may only look if you have unlimited and add the $20.00 so people may be upgrading phones for nothing.

Legal or not, it's immoral. Not all, but some people have no other way to utilize the Internet. What do you think is illegal about it? They're free to charge whatever they want. The worst it could do is void a current contract, if you're under one.
I agree but will the increase really satisfy Verizon's need for cash?$50 for unlimited data? I don't think anyone should complain too much about that given the current prices for data.
