"unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE data, will cost $80 per month"

wow, that's expensive! It cost €35 euro's each month with T-mobile in my country the Netherlands (that's $37,22 American dollars) for exactly the same. Does Verizon also add's group talk? In Holland T-Mobile offers 6 people within a group to be able to call with each other 24/7 if they want without any cost.

I wonder how much cable television cost within the United States, for 70+ channels +29 High Definition Channels you pay about €24,95 each month that's about $26,53 United States Dollars...

They should just call it the "22GB+ plan"

If you're a person who uses anywhere around 22GB... this plan will cost you $80. 'nuff said.

You used to pay $90 for 16GB and $100 for 24GB.

So this plan is actually cheaper.

And Verizon still has cheaper plans for people who use less data.

Now for some wild speculation below:

How soon until this $80 plan is the only plan they offer? I bet Verizon would love for EVERY customer to pay at least $80 a month for data.

That's how they sneak up the price over time.

They'll never outright lower the price... they'll just add more data (whether you want it or not) while raising the price to make it seem like a better deal.

If they can offer 22GB+ for $80 in this plan... why would they keep offering the 8GB for $70 plan?

So I can see them eventually dropping all the lower plans and giving everyone the 22GB+ plan (and getting $80 from everyone in the process)

Well, with corporate discounts and/or lower access fees for those one some older plans they can be cheaper than unlimited for those who don't necessarily need that much data.

For many years I've been using unlimited data plan. It annoys me greatly when iOS requires me to connect Wi-Fi to do backups or d/l some large app. Please allow me to live Wi-Fi free.

I've been on with Apple about this for over a few months.... Apple blames the carrier as its a "profile thing" that. somehow, prevents this or routing issue...

Mobile carrier blames Apple... so its a back and fourth with no resolution but augments, and i don't get anywhere.. In the day i just say "stuff it". Either Apple, or mobile carriers know its either one, but no one wants to actually owe up and do something about it.

I know Apple wants to protect users using "too much data" (or carriers) but if they wish to protect users that much, why do they allow it in other areas with streaming ? Are we gonna start seeing "Sorry u cannot stream this because it goes on for 30+ minutes and u are over LTE" :p

It sux,, because we have that much data, yet we cannot use it when we want... Looks like i have to fork out for a T-prepaid sim just to see.

I for one would be happy to use my mobile data always even for large 100MB and over app downloads..(Apple thing) or software updates. (either)

Was able to change my plan. Two lines, $110 per month. Not bad at all. Only thing is my corporate discount was removed as it says when you sign up that you can't use corporate discounts with unlimited plans.

Just had to double check the calendar to make sure it's not April Fool's Day.

At first I thought it meant it was $80 for unlimited data, but then saw it includes talk and text as well. So by my understanding, for me being on a solo plan I could get unlimited talk text and data for JUST $80 a month? That hardly seems true. What's the catch?

In the UK, Three do a similar deal for £32/month

http://www.three.co.uk/Store/SIM/Pl...ll&data=All-you-can-eat&minutes=&type=alltype

Includes roaming usage in Europe, USA, New Zealand, Australia... :)

I guess the market's more competitive over here!

Done.

I just canceled this plan. In my case they wanted to charge me $110 for two lines unlimited data, plus my data access fees for both lines. By the time I added up how much I was paying, it wasn't worth it. Went back to the tiered plan I had before.

Looks like line access is included in the price :)

Thank you! That hit the nail on the head. I've had a upgrade waiting since 2012. Gonna switch to this plan and get a 7 plus as well on payment plan

Just signed up, and you are wrong.

$80 for one line, $30 for the second, $20 access fee per device, taxes...

2 devices, $156

Edit: plus some random $40 one-time surcharge which may be related to applying the change to this month...?
How did you sign up for Verizon Unlimited when the plan isn't active yet?

- As a European, it's really strange reading about these things in America... "Just $80 a month"...
The same thing here costs $17 a month but with 50 GB tethering and no surcharges, fees, or throttling to be factored in.

In the UK, Three do a similar deal for £32/month
- We have a carrier in Denmark that does it for $17.
Really strange conditions they have across the pond. :)

well, i live in israel and here i pay 15$ a month for unlimited calls & sms plus 30GB of LTE data
when i lived in the US, i remembered that they had the thing like if someone calls you it takes minutes from your plan, same goes for SMS... wow that is stupid

People who are on the trade in discount plans from the iphone 7 release, if I swap my plan from my current "THE NEW VERIZON PLAN 12 GB" to this new unlimited one is it going to mess up my monthly bill credits?

Sticking with T-mobile for the following reasons ....

GSM over CDMA. Swapping phones with SIM card FTW.

Still on the grandfathered 2 lines unlimited LTE and 7GB tethering for $100.

Love Jump On Demand.

Got the T-mobile warning message of going over 28GB plenty of times, but they have never slowed down my data speed. I have a feeling Verizon would make it mandatory, like AT&T has done to me.

T-mobile ships pre-orders of new released phones the earliest.

I feel bad for the people still on grandfathered ATT. I was there for something like 6 years and dealt with their shinnanigans. The service was junk in my area, but I put up with it because it was unlimited. At the end of the day, I've been so much happier with even my 6gb of USABLE data. Great coverage on Verizon and this is going to be a great option.

AT&Ts service is great, never complained about that, problem for me is some months I will blow through your 6gb in like two weeks. My issue is now the 2nd 5 dollar increase. First one didn't bother me so much.

If AT&T now lowers their unlimited I feel bad for those that dumped it lol

Here's one major catch. I just tried to sign up online, and it said it will not allow me to use my company discount. I've always been able to get 21% off. So this plan would have cost more than the plan that I'm already on, plus I would no longer get my discount. The Verizon way.

Hrmm.

So like $160 for 2 lines on family plan?

Right now my wife and I share like 16gb? of data, she tends to go over on her data often ... With gov't employee discount, we pay around $130 a month.

According to Verizon, you will no longer get that govt discount on this new plan.

Why does this always have to come up? What does this have to do with anything? How much does your gas cost or all kinds of other things that are cheaper in US? How much larger of a network do US carriers have to create, maintain, and upgrade compared to Denmark? What's the pint of any of this? "'Sup" indeed.

Well, I'm currently stationed in the U.K. and am on 3... I can get unlimited everything for £35 a month. Not to mention the UK's 3G is faster than most of Americas 4G/LTE and that really baffles me. I dread coming back to the States for cell phone bills again. My point being, AT&T, Verizon, etc. aren't any better than any other countries cellular network... but we pay out the @$$ for it. Why?

Funny, just last week the wireless carrier annual reviews came out. T-Mobile ranked same quality as Verizon. Now Verizon can no longer say they have the best network which has always been thier argument for charging more and not having unlimited data. I was with Verizon for 13 years, and finally took the big jump to try t-Mobile 3 years ago. I have not regretted that choice, though the first year was rough with dropped calls. T-Mobile has made HUGE improvements in thier network over the past 2-3 years and now they are fighting Verizon for that #1 spot. Verizon knows this which explains this big change BACK to unlimited. However, I will stay with T-Mobile, why...

Understand this though, while the ranking there said network quality was about as good as Verizon, coverage is still not comparable. Verizon still wins hands down in that respect.

I'm really thinking about jumping on this tomorrow. I have the Verizon grandfathered unlimited data plan with unlimited text and 450minutes with unlimited tethering and my bill is right under $160. This may be the one for me
I am also grandfathered under the original unlimited plan. Let us know how this works out.
