One thing worth noting for some is that on verizon's website they state roaming data to canada and mexico is only 500mb LTE. Not a problem for most but those that travel regularly to either country regularly it might. It would for me. We have the t mobile unlimited and the 28gb "prioritizing" applies all over na, its not less outside the us. We are in mexico most of the time. Its 60.00 each phone taxes included or 120.09 for two.

Again, just pointing it out for anyone who travels. 10GB for tethering would be nice but it wouldn't apply here in mexico anyway. I prefer the unlimited LTE and even 512kbs unlimited tethering is better than 500mb total per day.

I'm confused -- the point I was making is that CDMA is limited tech and GSM is a true world-phone. If you want a phone that works worldwide, you don't get one on Verizon or Sprint, because they are CDMA.

CDMA might be absolutely better. But this isn't betamax vs VHS -- I do care (as many do here) that CDMA splits the iPhone models in two, and also care that it limits my overseas options. I can use my GSM model phone on Verizon, but not Verizon/CDMA on GSM networks like ATT/TMobile. That's why I dislike CDMA sourced carriers, and again - to my original point - they are limited, and owned primarily by Qualcomm.

Even if you never plan to leave your carrier or the country, getting an unlocked "world" phone (read as: GSM phone) it can work on all of the US networks. GSM > CDMA in that regard.

you have that all wrong.up until the latest iPhone the Verizon iPhone was the one to get as a world phone and fetched up to 500 more value to ship over seas for other countries to use because the FCC forced Verizon to not sim lock any of there LTE phones.

meaning you don't need an unlock code to put a different carrier sim into it like all the other GSM phones that were sim locked and needed to get unlocked after being paid in full.

I'm on Verizon right now and was about to switch to T-Mobile on my gs7 and popped a T-Mobile sim into it and it worked flawlessly.

my friend with a T-Mobile phone tried my Verizon sim and it would not connect to data and needed an unlock code.

Qualcomm modems are the best out there anyway and you want a Verizon phone that has CDMA support along with all other GSM bands.

you get more bands if you use a Verizon iPhone and even now the new iPhone 7 gets faster speeds than the Intel GSM modem in all the other phones.

take a Verizon iPhone 7 and put a T-Mobile sim in it and it should work.

There is no access fee with this plan, just add taxes.

Actually there is an access fee but its built in. The data price is $65, access fee is $20 then you get a $5 discount for auto pay. So only thing to add on to the $80 is any device payment, taxes and fees.

Similar for the 4 line plan. $110 for data, access fee $20x 4, then $10 discount for Autopay leaves you at $180. Then add any device payments, taxes and fees.

I have the 24GB XL plan with 3 phones and one tablet so switching to this will cost an extra $15 per month from my current plan.

**Also according to vzwsupport, you can still switch to unlimited without Autopay if you wanted to for whatever reason, you would just lose the $5 or $10 discount depending on what plan you are on. So $85 or $190 would be the cost

I'll find out tomorrow as we were about to leave Verizon for TMobile.

Verizon said it's 45 a line for 4 lines to compete with T-Mobile 40 a line for 4 lines.

I would assume it's 45x4 plus tax all in with no other fees because they are competing directly with T-Mobile with this new plan.

right now it's 160 all in at T-Mobile for 4 lines .if we can get 4 lines all in for 190 I will stay with Verizon.

The following is a DM with Verizon CS: "The Single line Unlimited plan is $85 with the Access Fee included. Then your regular payment for Device Payment added on. By setting up Auto Pay, you can receive a $5 discount. Do you have any other questions I may assist you with?"

this is perfect timing we will have 5 upgrades in a month on our Verizon account and hopefully can get subsidized 200 dollar phones when renewing another 2 year contract

I feel like Verizon might be very busy soon. Hopefully their network is realllly ready.;)

Meh. I gave up my iPhone years ago. I can't believe everyone's so excited about paying $80 a month. Google Voice is free. Save your money and buy some groceries.
What exactly would you use Google Voice over without data and/or minutes/texts?
Gonna bail on T-Mo Simple Choice Unlimited at the end of the week (if they don't respond). I've been paying $95 + tax so bill is over $100. I don't want One+ International (taxes included) since I have binge-on turned off at all times. Don't want to "tweet" every single day for non-blocky video (lol).

Legere's war room will be in full swing Monday at 7am Pacific. They are in trouble IMO.

I'll miss the freedom of GSM, but Verizon is transitioning away from CDMA anyhow. Good deal at $80.
Well, most of the current/recent Verizon smartphones support GSM.

Verizon, where an $80 plan is not really an $80 plan. Throw in the $20 access fee, plus federal fees, 911 fees and taxes, you are closer to $120.
So basically taxes and fees that are in play with any carrier essentially? And access fee seems to part of the price, as has been demonstrated many times now...unless there's something actual to demonstrate that it isn't?

So.... unlimited doesn't really mean unlimited
Kind of like a sarcastic remark that's not really sarcasm?

Keep in mind that Verizon dropped contracts recently.

I think they will bring them back.i heard Verizon lost over a million subscribers to TMobile these last few months since the new one plan.

they want to lock people in for at least 2 years now to calm the stock holders from people leaving.i would sign a 2 year if they gave me a brand new iPhone 7 for 199

Seeing some information that auto-pay discount only applies if debit or e-check is used (not with credit cards). Between that and apparently no corporate discounts (aside from military/veterans it seems), it might not be as good of a deal for some that might have limited plans that are still enough for them and are potentially cheaper.

My family of 4 was just in the process of switching to T-mobile One after being on Verizon for 10 years. They just stopped us with this update.

Hey T-mobile, compete some more, please. :) We love you for it.

Good point. I am trying to get some family members (Sprint) to switch. It would help the cause if Verizon offered to pay the ETF with the new plan.

As to the autopay, I will have to think about that, if what you posted is true. I prefer not to give direct access to my banking account. I may just absorb the extra $5.00 for security measures.

Are there any catches we should look out for? I am on a grandfathered unlimited data plan. Do I lose anything by switching to this new unlimited plan?

What is the OTD cost for a family of 4?

No, if it doesn't have any line access fees it could be a MUCH better deal then current T-Mobile plans, and that's coming from a T-Mobile customer. If it has line access fees then it's more mixed, but still darn good. The throttling of video and VPNs kills the T-Mobile unlimited for me. With the Verizon plan it's not so restricted and you don't have the tethering limitations that make tethering worthless on the current "unlimited" T-Mobile plans. In any case, I'll be keeping my T-Mobile family plan since "unlimited" data really isn't useful to me if there's a tethering limit, and all of this plan still has the same 10gb 4g tethering limit I have now.
t-mobile blocks vpn use?

So if you sign up 4 lines on this plan, does each line get unlimited data?

What happens when line 1 hits 22GB? Are all 4 lines subject to "network management"?? Aka throttled speeds under heavy network use.

Just signed up, and you are wrong.

$80 for one line, $30 for the second, $20 access fee per device, taxes...

2 devices, $156

Edit: plus some random $40 one-time surcharge which may be related to applying the change to this month...?

We left Verizon when they started throttling at 2gb to dialup speeds, has anything really changed.
Right now I have a real unlimited plan with sprint with 2GB hotspot for $110 / mo.
Why can someone reign in this word unlimited to really mean unlimited. It's like they are charging for oxygen.
[doublepost=1486964997][/doublepost]Of course once they get everyone to switch over then they will stop offering unlimited and stab everyone in the back again.
[doublepost=1486965064][/doublepost]I'm sorry, I don't trust them anymore.

The catch for me is the tethering cap, as I do not have cable or cable internet and use my grandfathered unlimited data plan for a bunch of audio and video streaming. I usually do about 50-60gb a month.

That "de-prioritizing," or whatever that laughable line about what is really throttling is also suspicious to me. There's ALWAYS a catch.

Still, will investigate the plan tomorrow.
